I've noticed an uptick of "old" characters in video games. I have a theory that because the average age of people who play games are much older, the age of "role model" type characters needs to increase as well. When you're a kid you idolize older characters as role models. Usually super men and women in their 20s MAYBE early 30s who are in their prime age and are people to aspire to be. Now that the 30-40 age group is growing you can't relate to these young idealistic 20 year olds anymore. So you make a bunch of 55+ seniors that are at the end of their life, but not feeble or powerless. I think Deadlock does this way better than every other western attempt right now because they don't get that you need to make them LOOK cool. I don't want a feeble old woman that looks like she should just fucking retire, I want a little powerful witch who has a lifetime of magical experience. I actually think Overwatch unintentionally nailed this last decade with the same aging demographic but for the 30s age for the late 20s demographic. Characters like Mercy were insane hags by comparison to every other young whipper snapper back t hen.

Solomon kinda makes no sense with how this game is played. If it was a top-down MOBA then his kit would make perfect sense. But moving chest pieces feel bad. His shield is okay and really only feels good when used on allies, because when used on himself it feels like a worse QE. His Rook is his only redeeming ability it's just mindless cc better if you're in a small space. His ult really doesn't hurt at all and the fact that it's so easy to move out of his hilarious. Not to mention you basically take free fucking poke damage while trying to even move a piece when that time could be better spent shooting the enemy. His kit is really just a midboss contest kit with nothing else, another boring ass character.

Finally got a chance to sit down and play Rat King for an extended number of games in a row and man is the grenade build effective. I went 14-5 in the last game I played fine-tuning the order of buying things. It's like the Homing Paradox bomb I've always wanted. Once you get Echo shard and have maxed out range upgrades you win every team fight on every objective.If the bombs don't outright kill the enemies which they will because they aren't expecting or respecting the range and damage throughout the game then they'll be so softened up your teammates can finish them off.Especially since the bombs apply slow when they explode which I had not been aware of. I was actually running Sharpshooter and picking off people running away because the lanes are so big and open now. Sharpshooter has a lot of really good stats on it.Unfortunately the rats are kind of slow and not really that useful from what I have experienced. If you have a teammate that can hold an enemy down for a few seconds or if you're in a tight Corridor or if you want to try and throw rats down to cut off someone's Escape Maybe but otherwise they don't really feel like they're doing too much in any build that I've tried. Which is a shame because you think his loyal subjects attack would be the highlight of the Rat King aside from the ult.I'm going to see if I could slot in witchmail late game for next time to potentially shit out even more grenades as the build I was testing did not have it and I wasn't up against that many spirit-heavy teams tonight

what the fuck am i supposed to do if i get pushed away from my pieces as solomon? it feels like im really strong in lane but once fights become even slightly mobile im just constantly getting pushed away from my bishops. i get too far too yank them, plus they have cooldown on their moves, and if i recall them its like a 12 second cooldown, what the fuck are you supposed to do with this character when fights arent just staying in one place + early game so no one has dashes? beyond that specific time, i feel like i cannot do a single fucking thing, everyone is just flying around dashing in the air, wall jumping, teleporting, and im just begging them to stay in one general area so i can hit them with the bishops
