Replaying the main game with the context of the ending is pretty soulful. When I first played at release I didn't catch how much of a parallel Sven was to the Pathfinder and Arisen's own journeys later on.

Enemy has 1000 defense and you have 1050 attack, you do 50 damage. Enemy has 1000 defense and you have 1200 attack, you just quadrupled your damage.Different attacks have different damage values. A single big hit is better for damage against enemies whose defenses you aren't overwhelming, while if you have a lot more attack than enemy has defense many smaller hits tends to do more.

The non-choice of not siding with Trailer Bitch, despite this being the same game that lets you miss entire endings until NG+, is pretty disappointing. And yeah, it's not even worthy of a spoiler since it's not a proper story, but there will come a choice that won't actually be a choice. If you make the wrong choice, it just shows a low-resolution cutscene, then puts you into the death screen. The dumbest thing about it is that I was actually roleplaying the choice: my character weighed the words of the ancient, wise Sage Sphinx versus this random pawn he just met, the same entity that would lie through their teeth and kill for their masters, and chose not to take her at her word because why the fuck would he? What a disappointment. I was actually expecting a branching narrative, another ending, something. I'm no longer invested in the story at all as a direct result of me getting incredibly excited about a potential meaningful choice that actually had no meaning at all.

I'm finally ready to come back and beat everything now with the DLC. I planned support mage main pawn and trying everything on my arisen but i'm eternally drawn towards mystic spearhand. The final step is hardmode or not. I know there's A LOT of talk about it and if it's the better experience or too frustrating, etc. I've played most of the big action-oriented games somewhat like this one and beaten most. Is hard mode here any different than Elden Ring, sekiro, lies of P, Nioh series, etc? I tend towards constantly trying to upgrade and be in the best armor and weapons I can in these games as I go naturally. I don't mind having to be careful and a bit tactical. Will I be fine on hard mode from the start? I had about 30 hours in this game from launch so i'm not exactly new to it's quirks either. I just wanna have a good time and since hard more is permanent here I don't want to get 50 hours in then break if it's that bad or something.

If I had to absolutely compare it to a souls-like, Pre-Norgan is basically just NG+ Elden Ring if you were undergeared, but gained roughly 3x runes, so weak enemies take a while to beat, everyone refuses to stagger unless you have insanely strong gear, that kind of thing. Norgan, I'd more or less compare it to one of the later NG+ cycles of Nioh, where new tiers of loot are unlocked and are intended to be farmed to fight the higher tier of monster you find as you progress. And the last phase is for maxed out characters.
