That implies I am invested in AI/MTL and I want to influence people to engage with it, which is not the case. (I don't shitpost about it, but a translation is still a translation; people should learn Japanese to maximize reading quality). Rather, I am invested in the truth, because the truth is what actually shapes the world and has consequence, and the truth is that MTL is good now. I spent an almost obsessive month confirming this for myself, checking thousands of lines across dozens of contexts, performing blind tests on people, blah blah, and with the truth confirmed I felt it pertinent to inform people.There all three layers of motivation to wanting to inform people. One, that's just my blogging style; I like to discover things and then share semi-original findings, be it hidden kamigems or new technologies. I like to be in the "teaching" role and "explain" things to people, just on a personal level. Two, I do believe it is in the people's best interests if they understand the quality and accuracy of MTL. It allows people to play new games, save money on official patches, improve existing patches, blah blah; it is wholly in their benefit to know so I do feel some obligation to inform them. Three, it's important for OTHER TRANSLATORS to be informed so they know to look for work elsewhere. It may be that some extremist holdouts are still pretending otherwise but every translator I've spoken to at least is either using AI to QC their translations now (for a time I performed a service of QCing their latest work, and let me tell you, serious translations do NOT respond well to seeing a 90% to 95% accuracy rate being thrown back at them) or are planning to get a new job in 1 to 5 years. Informing my peers about the upcoming end to their livelihood is the most abstractly noble effort in that planning a couple years ahead for a new job can change a lot.

At this point if there was some achilles heel to AI translation I would expect SOMEONE to have capitalized on it. Not to mention all the people who genuinely are playing and enjoying MTL patches. It's almost every day I see a new MTLer pop up somewhere, thrilled with his results. Schwarzemarken is the crown jewel of all this I think. I think Schwarze anon is intelligent and if the MTL was bad he would not have liked it, for instance. But instead I keep seeing sharp, clever people engaging with MTL and liking the results, which only reinforces my position as true.
