Also, those retards shouldn't have fire all at the same target, some of them should've waited for another enemy. I believe they fixed it in XCOM2.

>>
How strange.
I had mentioned at the end of the last thread >>584130809 that, while adding and overriding mciavi32.dll was required to fix video playback with Proton 10.0, it wasn't needed with Proton 11.0... or so I thought, because I was getting both audio and video with just the ddraw.dll override that fixes the launch error.
But then it played the wrong audio during this part. It's supposed to be music and a character-introduction voiceover, but it just started replaying the audio of the preceding cutscene. Adding mciavi32.dll and its override back in seems to have fixed that.

Nice! New thread.
I started playing Dragon's Dogma 2, RE engine always requires /EnableWineDetection:False to use Ray Tracing, which for some reason it's broken on proton and makes the game look worse by making the shadows disappear and flicker for a couple of seconds each 7 or whatever seconds.
Game looks OK without RT so it's no big deal for me

Integer scaling in fullscreen also doesn't work or isn't respected by DXVK. I set the resolution explicitly to 640x480 when I set integer scaling to enabled, so this is scaled 2.5x.
>>
Oh, I can make it do integer scaling.
Apparently it just doesn't work unless display mode (where I had set the resolution to 640x480) is instead set to "Same as desktop (Default)".

No reason not to use Wayland.
The wine Wayland driver is working just fine on most games.
The only games that were giving me trouble were RE2 with the rebirth mod (didn't try it without the mod), and a version of RE5 with the enigma protector bypassed.

Why do you even care if gnome supports something or not? Gn*me is not a gaming DE and shouldn't even be mention together with gaming. It has bigger problems than supporting tearing (which you shouldn't even care about since you should own VRR monitor already if you're serious about gaming).

My cursor lags on wayland (except on gnome) when playing very heavy games (100% gpu usage) or when playing a game that is heavy on one cpu core, even when it's a game from 2004. I also get stutter in some games (such as baldurs gate) when recording at the same time. This doesn't happen on x11 without a compositor.

>>
>>584212938
Might be the high mouse polling rate issue, reduce it to 125Hz and see if it'll fixes it.
>>
>>584213427
Nah it's a linux issue. Linux has terrible gpu scheduling. If you have multiple applications running that uses the gpu it's not able to schedule it properly and it starves non-dominant applications. This is why if you run a game that uses 99-100% gpu and then run another application (that just displays a single triangle) it can run at 30 fps, even though it's capable of running at 40 000 fps. That happens with every gpu vendor on linux (except I believe nvidia x11 since it doesn't use linux drm).
So in this case it starves the compositor so the compositor stutters. I'm not sure what xorg does differently, xorg and wayland compositors should be equivalent when you run fullscreen games (direct scanout).
>>
>>584213664
it doesn't lag on gnome since gnome runs mouse handling in a separate thread, so it's a kde/hyprland/niri/whatever issue in the end.

Figured out that the issue with SOPFFO running at ~20 FPS is a linux 7.2 regression as there are multiple reports about it. I thought 7.2 was finally usable with 7.2.8 which finally fixed all the HDMI issues, but I guess I am going back to 7.1. It doesn't help the issue caps out your clocks and voltage so it could have been damaging my card.

Funnily, around 10+ reboots with mitigations=off and the game runs fine every time. Booting without it and there's like a 3/4 chance I hit the issue. Weird luck.

tl;dr: Just stay the fuck away from linux 7.2. Terrible release series.

I'm also on RDNA2 so you should be careful. Use mangohud to keep track of your GPU stats.

I've rebuilt the last 7.1 release so we'll see if it's fixed. If not, firmware is next and checking logs. I did a ton of gaming on the 7.1 kernel since 7.2 was unstable so it will probably be fine.
