I'd say Ghoul is a mix between Rogue and WarVet, he trades out pure stealth and the utility of quickswapping weapons for better sanity sustain and darkvision along with Frenzy boosting his melee output+speed. My build was more focused on being tanky and finishing fights fast with Indomitable Fury. It can be built as a quasi-Rogue with Stealthy and Cool-Headed to allow you to loiter around dungeons for a pretty long time and with better damage. Biggest problem with Ghoul is finishing fights worse off because he has to use corpses to feed. Not exactly bad, just a different way to sustain HP to consider. Much easier to do good with compared to other classes.

>>584106873I did find some ores down in the cave. Now I've got some copper to go with my tin. Not a ton, but enough to start futzing with what I presume will be called blacksmithing. I'd like to figure out some other light source as I can't figure out how to keep the torch lit on the ground for a moment while I use my shield.>>584121682The wider one is your current curse buildup and the percentage is listed there. The thinner one is your accumulation rate. When night falls, you have [curse] chance to have an event. If you do have an event and survive the night, it empties out. Accumulation rate is directly affected by your actions. Being destructive, chopping down a ton of trees, hollowing out a mountain for stone, and killing innocent bunnies for example will bring it up. The other side of things, plowing fields, harvesting produce, and fish-uh cleaning the ocean help to bring it down. You can still get to a point where you can do deforestation and demolition blasting, but you've got to keep things balanced. Had a night were I got "the shadows are moving" or something and I got a bunch of black "IT IS A MYSTERY" ghost lookin' shadows that hit like a truck. The biggest pain in the ass is that all the fog of war you've got revealed goes black again until morning comes. But if you survive the night, the big bar dumps most of the curse (possibly all if it's already low enough, not sure). Pic related is the hover tooltip.>>584168463Hey ma! Get the camera! >>584200952Curse finally popped. I've got several spontaneously generated plants scattered about now, with more coming as time passes. Got both a white pine AND a cypress, which don't seem to be native to this island. I've also killed my first slime now. They split sometimes. I'm resisting the urge to eat a slimeball just to see what it'll do. Garden trees have gone seedling and most of the produce is budding. I've now got a small pile of about 14 each tin and copper ore from the cave diving before the curse reared it's head. Once everything calms down I'll grab a meal and head back into the cave.

A lot of urban buildings could have ramped underground car parking, fireproof internal walls. Construction sites would be a great place for cranes, as the urban equivalent of radio towers. Most suburbs have one corner store in them and to create an urban bus network just make the bus stop a rare house variant, this would also let you reduce the number of ambient busses which often block roads.Sinks all have a liter of water in the U bend even if there's no water pressure, while murky it isn't septic and you can siphon it out with a hose or deconstruct the sink. This makes multi storey buildings more survivable. Most buildings have a copper earth rod, notable for being a huge maleable copper bar. It's far more intuitive to [E]use a wielded mattress, wooden board, table etc to baricade a window then to go through the construction menus. The games construction system is particularly good but the UI is so godawful that it gets slept on.Garden hoses, outdoor extention cords, curtains all function as ropes, rope is an important building material. Many buildings have sheet metal porches, garages, and while very hard to smash they're very fast to disassemble.Linoleum is faux leather, far more useful as armour then carpet. You can pull a thousand tiles off a roof to throw at zombies, and that's probably a very good way of killing zombies.

I can't wait for people to start vibe coding a bunch of mods for CDDA. Not only could they add a bunch of cool, much needed features like better, more tactical NPCs, deeper combat and such, but it will also piss off the power hungry tranny devs who will immediately ban them. This will lead to a divide, and possibly some forks with people taking the game into cool new directions, while the devs sit on their special secret discord talking about what other new dildos or lgbt flags they can add to the game over the next couple of years.

Even on the highest difficulty setting as long as you don't pick a retarded start its easy. And clearing out a town is simple once you have access to molotovs, which is also pretty early if you find a gas station.

>>584267694>People said this game was hardIt's not, it's just incredibly tedious. But there's a large subset of "people" in the gamosphere that think tedium = difficulty. >>584267694The game has many sim elements so choosing progressively harder starts is part of the fun, with the new starting system many players just choose to be super soldiers ever run, which really isn't fun. End game there are a lot of dungeons, you can collect survivors and do ambient quests
Survivors are so annoying to nurture. The only way to raise their skills other than crafting near them is to get them to read from books, but that's such an involved process.>walk survivor next to book pile>talk to them>hit "i" to open the assign a task menu, but be careful because "i" is right next to "o" which is the "Oh we should go our separate ways" button>hit "f" to open the study from a book window>scroll down to the book you want them to read>repeat this process every time you leave render distance(npcs stop reading and return to follow stance when you return, gaining nothing from your time away), go to sleep NPCs go to sleep when you do, cancelling their reading task, and every time they gain a skill level>do this for every additional survivor you want to raise the skills ofAnd then there's the issue that many NPCs have stats and mutations that are unfeasible for combat. The Refugee center beggars for example all have incredibly low str, bad combat skills, and many debilitating mutations aside from that one furry, so they're only good for base bitch work which is still a pain because they also generally have no relevant skills whatsoever. And to make things worse, survivors significantly slow down the game when they're in render, so they're not even good as base decorations.
>>584236691what game
>>584278368Probably Cataclysm with a mod
>>584274492But equally the players own skill progression wouldn't matter nearly so much if you just just designate one survivor for each craft skill, or found a melee God really early. They're more like labourers to automate tedious tasks which you don't generally have to do, like cutting planks, or weaving rope, but conceivably might have to do.

>>584282663No, you fucking retard. Making a forge means you'll have metal sawing 2 already- Because both a constructed rock forge (3 soil, 40 rocks) and a placed charcoal forge pretend to be the charcoal forge itemAnd the item, charcoal forge, has metal sawing 2.Why?Fuck off with your questions.
>>584274492The refugee center beggars are comically bad. Like I think they're actually meant to be taken as a joke. That lengthy quest chain and then at the end you get THESE clowns?Sometimes you find decent ones, though. I'm playing this one currently, after the original character whose name is on the save file got killed. No more main-handing my shield. It craves straight lines, however. Turning is an involved process. I'll be keeping it in my inventory until I get to the rocks.

Soldier zombies are kicking my ass in CLG.I Have 15 AR bullets to my name, and half a FEMA camp to clear. Now i was going to be clever and setup nailboard traps and a noise emitter at night. It worked to lure them all out! But the nailboards just got destroyed and dealt no damage. I also put a flashlight there.I dont have time to dig pits and fill them with spikes unless i do it in a far off forest.I set the noise emitter too close to the card reader and the zombies could see me with the dropped flashlight. What do? >>584304416Any craters nearish? I like to use those for early zombie killing, even if it's a long distance to lure them. Very easy to quickly convert them into spike traps too.Explosions can form deep pits too I think. Otherwise you just gotta dig the pits, digger.

>>584309330armor is giga nerfed in TLG, from what I can tell though the best option for armor is still the same as it was in DDA except the items are different, i.e. kevlar sleeves/leggings and concealable ballistic vest skin layer, survivor suit mid layer and chainmail outer layer. It still has way less armor than the equivalent arrangement in DDA but it seems to be the most efficient in terms of encumbrance. Ballistic vest encumbrance is so insanely high in TLG it doesn't seem worth wearing unless you are facing enemies with guns.
>>584308712I can't apply it multiple times right off the bat. It seems to make up for my poor efficacy. Before and after of the wheelbarrow.>>584309740I haven't felt the need to preserve anything yet, but at some point I should, just for the knowledge.
>>584309330Do you need spike pits in CLG? In BN regular deep pits still randomly cause damage.

I shake the ground that you walk on
>>584310175it's a problem in TLG how it's nearly impossible to engage any amount of melee combat without taking significant damage. Regular zombies should not be individually threatening, it makes progression agonizingly slow when you can't even loot a damn house without getting chip damage and significant pain. One of the best aspects to cataclysm combat is how zombies are slow and stupid but incredibly threatening or even instant death in groups. Managing the horde is basically the core gameplay of the whole game. You need mid-end game armors to resist enough damage from a regular zombie for it to be worthwhile to fight them in straight up melee, that's just crazy.
>>584310175>and ultra no challenge CBNYou know it has difficulty sliders/settings right?I don't believe for a second that you've completed the game with the difficulty sliders and settings maxed out.
>>584313735Yeah I never got that stance some people have. Do they not realize (last I checked) there's nothing stopping you from making a god character in DDA's character creator using default settings?BN's default settings are good for average people who are relatively new to the game. For everyone else, you're supposed to pump up the enemy spawn rates, enable wander spawns, increase evolution speed, install difficulty mods, etc.
Run killed by glitch. Double doors on vehicle caused it to become stuck between two reinforced concrete walls. Debug no longer works properly, can't teleport the vehicle, summon it on overmap. Can't even work out how to delete it. Flm another perfectly good run ruined
>>584313735Yeah but... pockets, and better UI.
>>584316998>pocketsPersonally for me, the straw that broke the camels back.>better UIIf it involves me fiddling with a dozen different submenus to fit gear into my inventory, it's not better.Still, that's just my opinion on those topics.Neither of which has to do with difficulty sliders or settings.Considering how high they can scale, I suspect that BNs is the hardest of the three branches.I certainly wouldn't be capable of surviving a surrounded start with 50x spawns that have 10x hp,100x speed and crushing dmg. And that's not even touching evolution speed and chance or fiddling with the stamina penalties from attacking across z-levels.
Can someone explain pockets to me and why it's divided hereI've never touched cataclysm
>>584319836Before pockets, you basically had a generic storage space, that increased or decreased depending on what storage your equipment had. This wasn't realistic enough for the DDA devs, so they introduced a system of individual storage spaces for each item. They also added lenght and weight of stuff they could hold and length and width to items. So before you could say, throw on two backpacks each with 15litre of storage and carry a 30ltire item, now you'd need a backpack with 30litre storage that was the right length/width.
>>584319836Old DDA and Bright Nights have volume and weight limitations for inventory. You put on an uber giga military rucksack with 100 L volume - you can pack stuff like heavy machine guns or several jerrycans. Pockets are introduced to counter that. You still got that miraculous backpack? Well, it's separated into a main compartments and few pockets now with separate length limits respectively. Now cavalry pikes and battle rifles with a bayonet won't fit. BN still has a sort of a counter too: any significant storage gear increases encumbrance (gradual action penalties so a player wouldn't just wear everything) the more it gets filled.
>>584320330That's crazy, I was already seething when I have to play inventory tetris in diablo 2
>>584319836Imagine you have a backpack with 16 total "space".Except that 16 total space is split between 4 different compartments, ie 4 different pockets. And each of those pockets has different parameters, ie one of them has a length limit of 6 length per item and can only store 8 "space" total, and the three others have a length limit of 2 length per item and can only store 3.3 "space" total each. It's stuff like this.So you can open your inventory, see you still have 4 space remaining, and try to grab a box of flavored condoms. But it doesn't fit. Because the box of flavored condoms has a length of 3, barring it from the 3 smaller compartments, while the box compartment is nearly full, so it can't fit there either. So after spending several minutes shuffling the items in your pockets around to make space you remember you're playing a zombie game that has aliens and cyborgs and demons in it. And you wonder why you've spent several minutes in an inventory menu moving items around to make space for a box of flavored condoms, wondering if this the gameplay you wanted when you downloaded the game. Wondering if this is the kind of gritty survival mechanics you were after. For some people it is. For many others, it isn't.
>>584319836the game's inventory system. your inventory is divided into individual "pockets", like a backpack will have its main pocket and secondary pockets on the front or sides like a real backpack. Your ability to put things into the pockets is limited by the dimensions of that pocket, you can't put a baseball bat into a pants pocket because it's too long for example.the main downside to it is you can't mindlessly packrat enormous quantities of junk like you could before, but the advantage is you can pack items into containers that you can carry or move freely. One of the best applications for it I have found is making big wooden crates to pack loot in and dragging it around.
>>584320447 (me)Immediately noticed I fudged the numbers after hitting post but I'm too tired to fix it. You get the idea.
Filling my pocket rn
>>584320486>One of the best applications for it I have found is making big wooden crates to pack loot in and dragging it around.I've been doing this even before the pockets lol. Better do this than playing "what to drop" every encounter. Actually I did such city raid a gun store on foot at night. It's still way more thrilling than in any other "survival" games.
>>584324417>>584320486>>584320447its so useful for autosorting and this gets glossed over. ever dropped your backpack to start stabbing zeds, gotten overwhelmed and gone to grab your handgun only to find theres "a hammer" or some useless tool in the holster, and your handguns in your backpack? thats what the priority/whitelisting is for. set that holster to ONLY either your specific gun, or the entire category of "gun", and now it will never have anything like "5 bandages" in its place. set your pants and jacket pockets to loose ammo, bandages, drugs and antiseptic bottles, and you can drop your backpack whenever and you wont be "caught out".this works out great when just general looting. set a bottle or ziplock bag in your pants pocket, whitelist IT for bandages, and whitelist the pants pocket for THAT bottle. now, whenever you pick up ANY bandage, anywhere, at any time, it fills THAT bottle to its max capacity BEFORE putting the rest into your backpack/jacket. now your bandage supply just autorefills without you needing to even really check/think about it.i can just...unload and drop everything from my pockets, jacket, jeans, drop leg pouches, backpack into one big ass random pile, pick it all up and it automatically sorts into the correct pockets. i can drop THAT mess of all my stuff, and drag it through a few piles of zombies, smashed cars, broken windows, and despite it now being an ugly, awful mix of shitloads of zombies loot, if i attempt to select all and carry, itll still fill my pockets and holster and drop leg pouches with the ammo/magazines/bandages/drugs, before attempting to fill the backpack with random garbage.
>>584328095>ever dropped your backpack to start stabbing zeds, gotten overwhelmed and gone to grab your handgun only to find theres "a hammer" or some useless tool in the holsterNo?This wasn't a thing in DDA when I used to play it either. What the fuck did they do?
>>584328095another one that pops up for me is the 100-200 round drum magazines you can get for some of the rifles. those will fit into a grenade pouch that you can attach to a chest rig, allowing you to just have up to 400 rounds ready to roll with like 120 moves to use, its kinda absurd. dont even both carrying loose ammo with me at that point, just dedicated my leg pouches to more loot space/meds, but you need to set it up because they are set to prioritize grenades over magazines.
>>584328873far out, i had to go so far back to find out why that wouldnt be a thing. in ellison, over six and a half years ago, holsters are hardcoded to only allow handguns, you cant store other items that would "fit". you have to manually select, activate the holster to put the gun into it every time. same with every magazine.wew

>>584308712Can bone glue fix a broken heart?
>>584330597I dropped it just as pockets dropped.
>>584319836One thing worth noting is that pockets were poorly implemented for a while and the dev response was to treat the players like they were trying to weasel out of the "new normal" and go back to ez-mode, instead of acknowledging they'd created disappearing items and weird nesting visibility and a hellish UI with no automation like most people who are attached to pockets now will brag about
>find big lake and a boat>try boating out for the first time>travel for a few minutes into barren open water>shark zombie instantly appears with no warning, grabs and drags me into the water, no hope of making it back to boat >die, 20+ hours wastedwow how fun, nothing says good game design like instantly dying to something you have literally zero warning for. cause having shark zombies that are invisible until they are right next to you wasn't enough, they also had to give them a grabbing and dragging attack too just to make sure you die and have your time wasted. What is it they expect you to do? never use boats ever because apparently you are at constant risk of being oneshot? only ever use boats if you build yet another tank vehicle first?
>>584351568Yes you need a better boat for open waters. were you in a canoe or kayak? if you keep moving you can sometimes outpace them in those but if they catch up you die. Need a bigger boat.>instant deathroguelikes? learning by dying is a common thing
>>584352334>roguelikes? learning by dying is a common thingexcept usually you aren't expected to perform dozens of hours of grinding first like you are in cataclysm. it's not a roguelike, it's an autistic survival game with permadeath, except it's also so poorly designed and dogshit that they have a multitude of enemies that are designed to instantly kill you after you have invested those hours into the grind.I think I'll just play a game that respects my time instead.
>>584320413thats the core gameplay loop in diablo, the fighting is secondary

Surely they've been near deep water tiles before and seen enemies hiding in them? Even pools and swamps can hide zombies.

the place is starting to look pretty weirdalso the difficulty spike is pretty noticeable, the spell casters are zoning me out, ran out of molotovs and dynamite for breakthroughs alreadyi have 2 strange devices but have yet to discover how to use those

>>584394852Wouldn't rushing a fire be the only hope?
>>584391345Maybe one of the devs will fix itIt seems to be an artifact of 7 or 8 years ago, when some contributor/dev/whoever went on the warpath and made sure that you couldn't craft ammo and magazines without a "casehead reference" and so on (Basically, if you want to make 9mm cartridges then you need a 9mm shell or magazine or gun to use as a reference) and that THAT was extended to all the makeshift magazines when they were added"How could you make a shitty metal box with 5 bullets in it without having the exact brand and model gun right in front of you?"It KIND of makes sense, except spaghetti code means that it's asking if you have a G3, not "a gun that needs a G3 magazine" for the crafting reqs. With how shitty and prone to failure all the makeshift mags it would be it makes more sense to just let you craft them and use them in any gun, instead of makeshift G3 and makeshift M4 mags both having the same recipe and bullet count but being "different"
>>584385342Uh...chaincasting Cleansing Fire would have helped. Much easier to use Occultists. Occultist benefits from more frequent power spikes.
thought you people should know
>>584402409/indie/ is a few doors down, mate. Thanks for the heads up though.
>>584310003I've mixed up a bunch more fertilized soil and the garden is slowly spreading on it's own onii-chan. The white pine is growing up well. Think I'll start spreading out a logging area with it once I can start harvesting it. Went around targeting spruce trees trying to see if I can get my hands on some more resin. Negative. The backpack halving the weight impact of tools has been nice. I've got almost enough feathers to make an upgraded bedroll so after the last of the planned buildings, a granite altar, I'll head out and see if I can find a chicken to lure back.
Seems like Rift Wizard 3 lost. Who could have predicted this?
>>584400161>chaincasting Cleansing Fire would have helpedI tried to stagger it for max burn effect but it did absolutely fuckall. It was 3 enemies: nitokris, dust vortex and a mummy. I only saw the undead at first, which is what I tried to snipe with the rifle assuming i could one-shot it, but it was like using the revolver against some lurking ooze.Occultists are nice, I like the dark bolt and AoE spell. I thought I could benefit from the x2 perks at some breakpoints from the exorcist class but honestly it doesnt seem as good as the other classes. The built-in molotov is nice though.
>>584406285Upon kneeling at the altar I can offer runes. I can dabble in attempting to influence the forces at work in the shadows. I'm up to 41% curse. I'm guessing the bigger the buildup I'll get more effects. The last one I had was at 20% and I got a luck (still not "discovered" however) debuff and a spontaneous plant growth buff. It could be stronger effects instead. I'll find out eventually. Well, out to find a chicken.
>>584408445I've yet to find the chicken again, though I did find some stray eggshells. The real prize of the trip is the ripening spruce I've been harvesting the entire way. The cones break down into seeds, so that's a small forest I've collected, not to mention four whole resin. I think when I get back I'll take a look at working some metal.
>>584411292Alright, night has just fallen. I didn't get a curse, but I did get this message. This is after I found a Grey Wolf in the rough area I've seen a chicken. He stepped up and having my equipment in my bag was a good idea. He ran off and one last hit took him down. More glue and leather now. Need to head back to camp though, my axe is looking kind of rough and I've got metal to ponder.
>>584413379Not a chicken, but I'm bringing something back with me.
>>584407303I actually just got past the Egypt level with a Ghoul gaming line of sight w Rod of Mist to prevent being burned and bursting him and the croc mummies with frenzy+maxed out melee. Not sure how to use Exorcist properly. But I think the class has an exp advantage considering it's constant gain from destroying altars and shrines.
>>584413585So the hitching post allows me to sleep and not worry about something running off due to untaming. He eats seeds as well, and I've got plenty of those thanks to the grass I've been clearing. A little more planting here and it'll be full of spruce. I believe I understand that milestone I was showing off before, Runekeeper. I'm only noticing three different runes, but I've got 15/695. I think it's just getting runes at all will make it go up. The square one there I got while dismantling spruce cones into seeds.
>>584417045I've realized that for produce I wish to harvest, I need to have an empty row for access between two lanes. Otherwise I'm just trampling over everything to get to anything. I'll reformat it completely at some point, but for now I'll just move the fertile soil around a little.
>>584418095Oh, and the reason I got excited over getting a bunch of resin. I can patch up these pieces I found. It's morbin' time.
>>584418227Neato. Another branch to go down in the search for knowledge.
>>584382808Not her but I really got to know Cataclysm in a very long run where the shelter was located just in front of a large river but never took the opportunity to try boats, which I could see drifting in the water. I acknowledged mutated monsters lived in there, yet in this new run I grabbed a kayak as soon I as I settled, followed the coast for a bit and got my arm broken trying to fight a mutated salmon. There is a horde of like a hundred Z a few map tiles East, so if it comes visit me I'll still take my luck again with the kayak to relocate.
>>584418325Having a look at the parts box, it appears that I have access to an even better bedroll than I was going to use chicken's feathers on. I'll still need feathers for arrows eventually. For now stabbing most everything with my spear works well enough. Now for tinkering with metal. I don't know the stats on the clay crucible until I fire one, so I'll make that first so I can compare to the granite one. Should probably make some green sand as well and see what I need to do for casting.
>>584419086Granite one is crucible II. Now to light the furnace.
>>584419590It turns out that I don't need to cast tin or copper. I got frustrated and started searching keywords on the devblog to try and figure out how to begin. I even searched the discord. Well, at least I have equipment for when I get to more advanced metals.
>>584421639i wish i was more into this. im too much a gunfag to play a roguelike thats purely swords/axes and shields. i NEED my rootytootymcshooty
>>584421639I have smelted ten each of tin and copper. Bronze isn't happening right now though. Eventually though, I'm sure. However, copper equipment is expensive so I'll need to head back into the underground to get more. I've made a copper pickaxe. I have also figured out how to to make a copper still to desalinate water. The granite dripstone takes 1750 turns to filter one container's worth of water. I'm hopeful that the still will be much faster, even if I have to fuel it. If so, I'm going to begin working on moving the camp to the beach and clearing out some of the inland surroundings for a farm. Not sure what to do with the ruined shack, but I might turn it into a barn.
>>584351568lmao outfuckinskilled.ive never even seen a shark, does anyone know if they are just super rare, or was this anon going too slow or some shit
>>584424876A bunch always around island prisons I think, otherwise they're kinda rare. Full speed on a cheap handmade paddleboat is enough to significantly outpace them, so either he got unlucky by rolling right up to one or he got cocky and slowed down/stayed in place long enough for one to reach him.
>>584424876they are basically everywhere, you just can't see them unless they are in shallow water or literally right next to you in deep water. basically the only way to not die to one is to find a big boat, failing that literally never go into the water. because you know the game that's obsessed with realism also has you die from drowning after 30 seconds of swimming, and also has sharks in new england freshwater inland lakes.
>>584424789It's not much. I'm sure I'm nowhere near knowing how to make it. But there's black powder, so one would assume flintlocks and whatnot. Additionally the description for granite bullet says "...for slings and firearms."
>>584425178>Full speed on a cheap handmade paddleboat is enough to significantly outpace themthat's definitely not true because I have had the sharks that surround the island prison kill me while doing like 20+ on a motorboat.all of the water stuff in the game is ridiculously half baked. the movement penalties on the player and movement bonuses on water creatures are insanely high.
>>584425260>they are basically everywhere>>584425178>they're kinda rarenext run, or whenever i get the chance on a new character im gonna kill a fuckin shark or get fuckin killed by a shark
>>584425870those two statements are not mutually exclusive
>>584424790This is a massive upgrade. Beach Bungalow project begins now.
>>584425908yeah but its funnier if i pretend otherwise
>>584425404Either those were modded or jawed terrors got nerfed in Babynights, because they can be lost at 13mph+ speed which is how fast a cheap paddleboat can go. Just tested it now with this thing
>>584425974Your blogging is making me want to check out Wayward again... This is what is looked like back in version 2.1.1.6 a few years ago.It seems they've changed some systems, I don't see the malign/benign aligment score on the UI but there's now "curse". I guess that's the same thing?
>>584425974Swam in the deep ocean a bit to get tired. Got tired as the sun was beginning to rise. Took a nap. Grabbing some food and drink on waking... it taunts me so.
>>584426162I guess it's possible I ran straight into it, but in effect that's the same as them outrunning you because you can't see the fucking things until it's too late. The fact that you can't see them and they amount to instant death over deep water means the only way to avoid risking being oneshot is to drive a boat that has no open water tiles adjacent to the driver seat, and literally every premade boat design has that except the gigantic wooden yachts you can only find at marinas which are extremely rare. So basically the only way to prevent the risk of losing your run on the water is to build a custom boat or get extremely lucky.
>>584426889Yep. I always get too lazy to shark-proof myself when doing island starts and just pray that nothing intercepts me on my way to mainland.
>>584200952>>584210375Yeah, so, it seems like curse is more or less the old difficulty system.Looks like they've hidden the stats but under the hood it's probably the same. You have benignity/malignity scores that decay over time and are gained by destroying/creating. The difficulty is just benign minus malign, with 0 being the neutral value and negatives/positives increasing/lowering difficulty. So you can essentially control the game's difficulty. Tame and farm for easymode, start killing everything when you wanna punch cthulthu while fishing at your pier.
>>584427225guyz I think I found something shark-proof enough in this lake
>>584426649From the information I read that referenced the reputation, I'm thinking it serves the same purpose in some different ways. Plus you can attempt to influence it using runes that spawn quite rarely when you perform different actions. I've not attempted to make contact with the weirdness yet myself. I'm enjoying how I think it functions. It's both boons and hindrances, even though it's "curse".
>>584427626Ah, ok. The other info from that tooltip is now in this thing while holding shift.
>>584309330With those bullets and the generous help of an oversized wasp guard and crater, i've carved into a small town with a pharmacy, gun store and library.Got some good loot and 4 books i havent ready including science for kids, finally, i can train science.Next, looting all the houses, then clearing the town for travel through. South of it is one of the hub quests; using a UPS rifle against a bot or something to bring it in alive.
Vibecoding is pretty cool. I will NEVER release any of this—it’s all for personal use—but I’m “working” (kek) on a tool that shows me everything I “own” or have “interacted with,” and where it is, so I can build an inventory of what I have and compare it against crafting recipes. Also, on the “cool shitpost I’ll never release” tier, I have my own personal Hitchhiker’s Guide that integrates info from TLG, BN, and regular DDA, and compares changes between them. Ask me any bullshit question.(i asked it to rewrite my post as vibecoded as hell, it did good)
>>584428985>“own” or have “interacted with,”Aren't those basically the same thing? If you've interacted with it, it's in the base. This should also make comparing it against crafting recipes redundant, no?
>>584429214>If you've interacted with it, it's in the basedepends on "interacted", but sorta. i mean, "have i seen it" vs "have i picked it up or moved it". id like it to tell me i saw something somewhere, if i ask, but not assume that literally anything ive seen personally is in my loot pool

>>584430148i had this issue as a kid. i learned to deal with it by just straight up breaking shit so it was "trash" and i could get over it. just fucking smash it and suddenly i didnt need to hoard it. terrible way to deal with it, but did it work? yes. my sister discovering weird furry pokemon bestiality porn in the wheres waldo book i didnt think anyone would pick out in my bookcase? took a lot longer to deal with.

But that's because I don't need to craft an entire tech tree of bullshit just to craft yet more bullshit, all of which requires random bullshit in large quantities, most of which can only be reasonably acquired by dismantling yet more random bullshit, and you'll need all of this random bullshit in significant quantities
>>584431217a lot of furniture is cosmetic, but some of the storage pieces do have added volume. and open square of ground has 1000L capacity, shelving has 1500, certain shelves and bookcases have 2000, and warehouse shelving has 3500 or 4000, can't remember. It's not as useful as it might sound though because every tile no matter what has a hard limit of 4096 individual items, which you tend to hit way earlier than 2000L. For whatever reason containers do not have the 4096 limit though so I put all of my high quanitiy/low volume item into large wooden boxes.
