Please continue posting your journey through this game

As for actual advice:
Go fast to get to a target. Slow down to kill target. Then go fast to the next target and repeat.
This game is all about positioning. Any time you go somewhere, ask yourself why you need to go there. For example, at the start you launch a missile, then slow way the fuck down and climb straight up. Why? There's nothing up there. Your friendlies are low to the ground, and most of their threats are on the ground next to them.
Pause the game at the start and look at the map. The enemies in the north are all roughly lined up from west to east. Go from the closest to the furthest, leave nothing alive in your wake.

>>584189351
It's the opposite.
LAAMs in Assault mean you have nothing to shoot at in the air.
LAAMs in PvP are easy to dodge, then you can close the distance and use whatever you want against the Mig.

>>584189463
Nerf LAAM performance and ECM / IEWS become meta.
I would be okay with a capacity and reload nerf so that Assault bros get some relief though
>>
>>584189351
honestly if they nerf the aerial target score a bit and make ground more rewarding we might not have this problem, maybe make standard missile and gun kills more rewarding than SPW kills too
>>
>>584189727
>ECM / IEWS become meta.
ECM/ESM would be fine if it had longer cooldown, IEWS should be removed as it removes the only downside of ECM boats having to waste two slots on both buffs on top of being just ok at flying

>>
>>584189351
I'm glad that the A-6E gets UGBs for when I do my attacker-only run. There's only four carrier-locked missions if I'm counting right, and while LASMs would be ok for mission 12 I'd rather just have plenty of dumb bombs to complete mission 26 with. 10 and 11 are whatever, airships die to ~4~5 MSLs without damage parts and Podarges get shredded by gunning their cargo bays.
>>
>>584190326
>Podarges get shredded by gunning their cargo bays.

>>
>>584190572
you supposedly can oneshot them by targeting cockpits as well
>>
>>584189770
Agreed with most but I wouldn't buff ground points. An attacker can already carry your score hard if left unchecked.

>>584189820
The "downside" of having to run both isn't even a downside. You're not going to run out anyway

>>584189918
I hope you're not doing death loops until stall.
If you keep your speed up you can just keep turning and dodge them automatically alongside all the other missiles being thrown at you.
>>
>>584190639
I thought killing their propeller is the proper way, guess I'll try that out
>>
>>584187485
Wow. That is... really brutal.
When they chatter says "something is coming in from [direction]" it almost always means that's a critical TGT, in this case as soon as you heard "choppers north" you should have opened the map until you could see them and then bee-line it at max afterburner.
For helicopters and a lot of ground TGTs, you only need one missile, and you don't need to slow down to fire on them, as long as the target is red and somewhat close to the middle of the screen, they'll go down.
For planes, the other guy is right, intercept fast, then get on their tail with average speed. You can usually let off both LT and RT when pursuing fighters, but you'll need to brake for prop bombers and boost for jet bombers.
Finally, please buy a better plane. I know, the Hornet is pretty, but in SP she turns worse than an attacker.

I'll mention stuff in the order that I see it.

You need to keep holding the accelerator to keep going fast. As soon as you let go of it, you will start losing speed.
You don't have to go MAX SPEED all the time, of course—but a lot of the time in this game, you'll want to be flying quickly (sometimes, as quick as you can) in order to catch up with a target.

When you're using anti-ground special weapons, you usually want to save them for targets with extra HP, or targets that are all clustered together.

Whenever you switch to one of your anti-ground special weapons, it will almost always show you a small circle that's parallel to the ground. This circle extends further than the target's icon that you lock onto—sometimes by only a little bit, sometimes by a lot.
That circle is showing you what the explosion radius will be. Anything within that circle will take damage. Most of the time, a target will take as much damage if it's anywhere within that circle as it would if it had taken a direct hit.

I mention all of this to explain why, at 2:08, you didn't need to shoot two LASMs at that clustered-together group of targets. The first explosion takes them all out, so the second one is wasted.
In some missions, there aren't that many enemies, so you can be more cavalier with your special weapons. But most of the time, you'll want to save them for tougher or clustered-together targets. The briefing screen before the mission can give you a sense of which of these kinds of missions it'll be, but sometimes, you can only really optimize your special weapon usage on a second playthrough.

Of course, that might have been because of the explosion from the enemy labeled Fuel Truck, too.
Whenever you see an target labeled something like Fuel Truck, Fuel Tank, Fuel Storage, or whatever the fuel ships are called, that will explode when you hit it. You can hit those targets to destroy other targets around them, letting you save time and ammo.
>>

thanks grok
>>
>>584191008
>>584187485
For HP values, you'll just have to learn them over time, through experience.
Think of enemies' HP in terms of missile hits—like with fighters, how most enemy fighters take two missile hits to go down, but heavily-armored or advanced fighters will take three.
Small ground targets like AA guns, SAMs, watchtowers, or APCs get blown up in only one missile hit. Tanks require two missile hits to destroy. Ships often require three, four, or even more, depending on the size of the ship. Harder targets (like on boss enemies) can require even more than that.

Some targets, like watchtowers or APCs, can't even shoot back at you, so you definitely want to save your special weapon ammo, and only take them out with missiles (or guns, once you get good enough).

You also seemed to be sticking with your allied helicopters a lot.
You don't have to stay with them all the time, because they're slow, and you need to be fast to zip around the map and take out targets.
Whenever you have an escort mission like this, you can just fly around to engage targets away from your escort allies, and only come back to them when you need to.

Listen to the dialogue for lines from your allies about how "enemies are getting closer" or "we're taking fire" or something like that, and then go back to them. Or, you can just check your zoomed-out radar every now and then to see how close enemies are getting to your allies, and go back to cover them before the enemies become a problem.
Also, when an escort ally takes hits from enemies (and is in danger of taking more hits), it will send out blue pulses from its location on the radar. If you haven't already noticed that they're in danger, then this will alert you to go back to them. I think there's also a little sound effect that goes with this, too. And usually some voice lines about "help us!" or "we're taking fire!" or something.

I'm going to watch more and see what else I can add.

Don't get me wrong, I love them, something about the open nose of the 15/17 is just extremely cool to me, but the 21 was capable of mach 2, so it could easily just fuck off to boom and zoom you into the dirt. Something's gone terribly wrong if a 21's wound up in a turning.l fight with a 17.

I didn't watch it all, but I skipped around the footage. Off the top of my head.
>give your squad some orders. On this sort of mission where you need to clear a bunch of targets on the map, the "Disperse attack" order that's left on the D-pad will make your team spread out and attack things. That's arguably more useful than them just sticking to you like glue.
>right on the D-pad permits your squad to use their special weapons. They tend to burn through their SP weapons fast, so you might want to wait until the "serious" moment in the mission to let them use their SP weapons.
>there's a lot of ground to cover in this mission. You should be flying faster most of the time. Slowing down only if you need more time to actually kill targets once you're in weapon range.
>Pay attention to lesser enemies that are actually attacking your escort targets. Something like an Mi-24 Hind helicopter normally won't be a big red "TARGET" but it will just loiter in place and fuckup friendly ground units. Ordinary tanks and howitzers will fuck them up a lot too.
>adjust your map size. The full size map is good for seeing the big picture, but sometimes you'll need to shrink it down to see targets amidst all of the clutter of friendly icons.

>>
>>584190736
>I hope you're not doing death loops until stall
Of course not, but there's only so much you can do. Worry about dodging the LAAMs being lobbed at you from 8 miles away and you get caught by the guy you're dogfighting, worry too much about that guy and you miss a LAAM. I just think LAAMs are a bad fit with ace combats gameplay, especially in multiplayer.
>>
>>584191580
Just speculation, they only said they're doing adjustments to the online. They're are going to fuck it up and not solve any of the issues.

Mission 28 definitely feels like they contemplated having branching story paths where you make allies on the way to the end.

He's sticking to the helicopters like glue. Which, for what it's worth, is more or less what the briefing told him to do. For all he knows some infantry with MANPADS might pop up into existence of fucking nowhere and rape his escort target if he flies off to slaughter ground targets on the other side of the map. It requires some meta knowledge to know that this won't happen on this escort mission.
>>
Rex/Ray never really got a cool nickname, did he?
He got the mocking "Featherhead" for most of the game and then towards the end when he's really scary he's "Terminus Fingers" but that's a lot less punchy than "Three Strikes", "Demon Lord [of the round table]" or "The Grim Reaper"
>>
>>584191798
I felt a very clear "we wanted to do branching stuff, and more in-depth stuff, but this is our first game in a new engine and we have deadlines" for both SP and MP. Especially MP. I get the feeling they wanted the base stuff to be way more integrated into the experience, like a persistent lobby or customizable lobbies for squadron leaders or other stuff like that, and they just couldn't figure it out in time.

>>584187485
Well, that first run ended quickly.
Some more general thoughts:

The best way to protect an escort ally is to go out ahead of them and destroy all of the enemies in their way. This is more effective than staying near them.

If you see a target on your radar that's red, with a red circle around it, in thicker lines, you need to focus on taking that out.
Its target box on your HUD will say "TGT" in red capital letters.
These are the targets that you always need to destroy in a mission. Even if it seems like other enemies should be able to threaten your mission somehow. Like, on that mission in your stream, it might seem like any SAM could threaten your allied helicopters, right? They shoot missiles at air targets. Normal enemy fighters do that, too.
Ignore that. Don't apply logic here.
If an enemy is not marked with TGT, it does not matter for the mission.

Prioritize shooting down the enemy TGT fighters and destroying the enemy TGT ground targets before they can shoot at your helicopter buddies.
And be proactive! Fly ahead to destroy TGT ground targets before your helicopters can get close to them, and fly out to the sides to shoot down the TGT fighters before they can reach your helicopter group.

There are other reasons to delay taking out TGT enemies in order to hit certain mission triggers for ace spawns or unique dialogue lines or stuff like that... but you don't need to worry about that AT ALL.

Just focus on the basics first: the TGT enemies are your first and only priority, always. Keep things simple, nail the basics, beat the missions, and you can focus on mastering other parts of your gameplay later.

I'll keep watching more to see if anything else jumps out.

Lastly, I honestly can't tell which control scheme you're playing on, but I would recommend playing on expert if you can, because it will serve you better in the future. But it is tough for new players, so if you can't handle it, then don't worry about it.

I also suspect they were considering making Rex a customizable character. Maybe not as in depth as MP, but at the very least, male or female. Since Rex is seeing things from a POV, and the focus on the pilot in replay, and being animated. I just can't help but feel they wanted that as an option, but let it go.

It's fine by me, keeping the protagonist pilot male is tradition.

There are going to be people that disagree with me but I'd rather have a well scripted ace fight with a few sections that require actual skill to progress than have "they spam flares and cobra every five seconds and the only way to damage them is SASMs or guns"
They unironically should've hard-coded the amount of Flares the Shadows get, you get 4 flares if you're flying an SU-57 so limit them to 4 flares too. Sure, they'll also wingman flare and that'll prolong the fight for a while but you should burn through their flares pretty quickly and have a more "fair" fight

I like the one where you shoot down a target, and there's like five hours of dialogue, and the CORRECT play is to immediately hit your afterburners and fly to the border where the return point is.
If you don't you have to do an INCREDIBLY hard railgun section with the most accurate railgun fire in the entire game that was so bad I just restarted the mission so I wouldn't have to do it

>>
>>584192676
Yeah, I agree, as annoying as Mihaly's fight was, I'd take it over Topkek any day. It's not even difficult, just tedious, or retardedly easy if you go guns because he makes himself a huge slow target every time you shoot a missile at him.

>>
>>584192915
Every other instance of railguns was predictable and easy enough to dodge. If I got hit by railguns in other missions it was a skill issue.
In that one, even though the NPCs said "the fire will be inaccurate because it's so long range" they literally pre-emptively put up an entire wall of fire and unless you were immediately turning the moment they popped up on radar you'd get boxed in and die.
>so just turn
And then you make no actual progress towards the return line and another railgun barrage comes in and cuts you off
Meanwhile the entire sequence can just be... skipped
>>

The damage system in 8 is pretty cool. Podarges die with like 10 seconds of sustained gunfire. Do keep in mind that if they're not carrying shipping containers you do have to aim at their cargo racks to do damage, really makes dealing with the ones in mission 25 pretty trivial, both for the mission and for the medal.
>>
>>584191943
Being an Ace gives you massive score multipliers. The game mode is all about preserving your team's Ace status and denying Ace multipliers to the enemy.

Farm AI until you're an Ace, then assess.
If you're an Attacker, there's nothing to do differently. Keep pounding that ground. The most important thing that you can do is survive. Dying and having to re-farm the Ace multiplier is a huge loss of potential points.
If your opponent has a competent Attacker and you don't, you absolutely must kill him. If his team is around him, kill them first, then kill him.
If you have a competent Attacker and your opponent doesn't, keep him alive. Just like in SP, you can flare for others if needed.

PA need to consult somebody who knows how to write characters. Tasha's IMMEDIATE reaction to Kate's "death" and her sobbing for a good couple of minutes behind a stick is so out of left field I can't help it. >>584195758
It felt like Cope was fairly standoffish from the group, which would probably explain why everyone seemed pretty onboard with you replacing him. I could be wrong but that's what I got from the intro.
>>
>>584195568
>also not like there's any mystery when you're flying in a straight line and can see the giant death oranges they toss in your face
but it actually does vary (or, at least, it can)

the railgun operators try to aim the projectiles so that they'll explode in front of you
but this is based on your current path, and is set at a particular moment that you can only tell if you're looking at the more-zoomed-in setting of your minimap
once you see that it's set, you can then immediately start flying off to the side in a different direction to best avoid the explosions, and then just straighten out and get ready to do it again when they set the trajectory for the next volley

it works a lot like trying to avoid Excalibur's lasers in ACZ

>>584195758
she wasn't in the air at the time, and would have heard about it second-hand
who knows how the news was broken to her?
I don't think that we see her right after she learns about, anyway, so we don't know how long she's had to come to terms with it

plus, for that other one, that came after the squadron had been on a roll for a long time, and she probably felt like we were damn near invincible at that point, so it would have come as more of a shock to her
with Cope, that came at a time in the war when constant losses were just expected, and she was probably kind of numb to them, or at least used to them
>>
None of the other missions railgun fire is even half as pinpoint or accurate, it's literally a non-issue in every mission but that one

the dialogue from mission 3 doesn't seem that way, apparently the flying trick Tasha uses when you allow her to herd the enemy was taught by Cope, so they are kinda close? There's also Baxter final moments reminiscing about Cope you don't do that if you don't like the guy.

It comes off as forced and somewhat cheap just for the sake of showing some form of reaction out of Tasha. >>584196497
hold the accelerator at basically all times
listen for railgun warnings, and do high-G turns (or just regular-ass hard turns) whenever you're concerned that you might get hit (constant high-Gs being enabled by constantly being so fast and having extra speed to burn)
be okay with aborting an attack run, don't get frustrated that you were just flying by doing nothing because you had to evade; you'll have a hundred more chances

and if you need a moment to reassess, take a breather, find a new target, etc., just head behind the supports at the base of the elevator, since the railguns can't shoot through that solid cover (even though it looks like they're trying to)

they'll cite "here's this beautiful vacation spot, here's this old castle, none of the rest of you have this so actually we're great," meanwhile the reality is that they have like 40% youth unemployment and anyone who can actually get a job is paying infinity taxes to put up foreigners who don't work in mansions and 5-star hotels while being berated by boomers for not working harder while they struggle to pay rent
it's in the back of their minds all the time, constantly agitating them

I'm really struggling to understand the point of introducing Enso when GR already exists and is powerful enough to have it's own private army, they even retcon the DOE program to be a enso thing.

It took me a few missions to figure out wtf Enso was because it's not blatantly the name of a corporation (fitting considering the nature) and it was almost like DD was some sort of political commissar for a bit there with like, how they had a stake in ownership of the Endurance. >I wonder if they wanted to go for something a lot more AC3 with you working alongside GR but backed away in order to come up with a more happy ending?
it seems like with every new AC game, PA thinks that they have to "reintroduce" people to Strangereal and the events going on in it
and because they already have "reintroduction" on their plate, that cuts down on how much story and world advancement they feel like they can cram into one game's campaign, because they don't want to give us too much at once
but they still want to slip in little hints and references and small developments
it's like they're always setting up that "this crazy shit is coming next game, trust us, we've finally set the stage for it now, we promise"

but then like 6 years have passed since the last game before they finally release a new one, and they go, "shit, we have to reintroduce people to this world again," and so any big world-changing developments are pushed back yet again, and we just crawl forward incrementally

I don't mind it that much
smaller stories are still nice, and big, world-changing events are rare
it's just a pattern that I feel like I'm seeing

Kepler Syndrome is actually a meme. There's no evidence that it could ever reasonably happen, or be a permanent issue.
Like for example, the Earth regularly passes through the trails of comets which produces spectacular meteor showers. The threat to satellites during these periods is zero.

What if the player character tries to defy the simulation predictions, nearly fails, but is helped by Nemo - who desires freedom from the simulation as well.
>>
>>584199164
>Kepler Syndrome is actually a meme. There's no evidence that it could ever reasonably happen, or be a permanent issue.
>Like for example, the Earth regularly passes through the trails of comets which produces spectacular meteor showers. The threat to satellites during these periods is zero.
but comets are just passing by the planet, not orbiting it
if you destroy a bunch of satellites that are in similar orbits at REALLY similar altitudes (because you need certain specific altitudes for particular orbits, like geosynchronous), then it's just a race to see whether their debris cloud deorbits first, or if it hits another satellite and creates more debris first

I don't think that a constantly-circling cloud of debris that is on the same plane (even though it's a sphere, you know what I mean) as a ton of potential targets to impact and thereby grow the cloud is comparable to a meteor shower

besides, any problem with the numbers not being sufficient can always just be solved by PA just saying "yeah well Strangereal had more satellites in orbit than real Earth does"
>>

>>584199501
>besides, any problem with the numbers not being sufficient can always just be solved by PA just saying "yeah well Strangereal had more satellites in orbit than real Earth does"
DD does say Enso alone has 40 thousand satellites in orbit.

>>
>>584198612
He is doing it.
>>
>>584199501
The problem with Kessler Syndrome is twofold:
First, it assumes that the distances between satellites is smaller than it actually is. Space is insanely massive. The risk of collision between satellites and any debris is not zero, but is very small. Kessler Syndrome assumes a "shotgun" effect that grows larger and larger with each collision, but that would assume any collisions happen in the first place. Satellites already do not have a problem with the meteorites that already exist in Earth's orbit, and intensify during showers. So the assumption of a "growing shotgun cloud of death" doesn't even pass the muster of the already existing space debris.
Second, Kessler Syndrome also rests on the assumption that the growth of space debris is higher than any debris lost from either fucking off into deep space or fucking off into Earth's atmosphere. And that's a pretty big assumption on its own, as we can barely keep old satellites in orbit - let alone old space debris.

>>584199490
Nemo isn't a sentient being who would ever want freedom, it's a machine with a singular goal: kill dission, this will happen no matter what.

The entire point of the game is that you're not a human being and you have no control, it's why you can only sit and watch as nemo starts raping reinas memories despite befriending her.
>>
>>584199783
All I'm saying really is that Kessler Syndrome, if it happened, would not last very long.

Major lore point of the AC7 DLC is that outliers get shanked once they've outlived their usefulness. Nobody wants the hero to become a thorn later and by AC3 they've figured out how to just simulate the hero without having to let them actually influence events.
7's end state is forever in limbo since the game was unfinished.

>>584199164
The problem is that there are a finite number of useful orbital slots and they're all on similar trajectories which means satellite debris is extremely likely to intersect the trajectory of other satellites. It'll deorbit over time (I think even the post-Theia debris belt is estimated to have only lasted a few years) but in the meantime your infrastructure is irreparably fucked.
Cometary debris is a non-issue because it only intersects orbital space briefly and is unlikely to be captured into a stable orbit to do otherwise.

I mean isn't it the same basic concept? Tail the bad guy, fire missiles and....win.
I liked what they did with Zero when the final fight was more like a jousting between two knights. Which also kind of plays into the theme or design of the game a little bit with the whole Merc/Knight thing.
That fight may have been not the most impressive from the mechanical standpoint but at least it stands out to me. Everything else is either a take on a superweapon done in the same way or spam missiles at a guy.
Like yeah, if you try and fight Pixy by just tailing him it gets fucking annoying and he dodges pretty much everything so I guess you could say it's sort of "scripted" but I liked that it didn't play out the same way it does in pretty much every game.

those two are incredibly similar mechanically

look for the big red circle of death on your radar, and once it appears in its set location, maneuver hard to the side, whereupon they will aim the next circle in front of your new heading

I'm a nugget but I don't get whats the meme about going fast? It took me till my second campaign run to realize that going slow is WAY better in both dogfights and while gunning down targets simply cause it lets you make much finer/precise adjustments to track compared to going fast where I would always overshoot the pitch/yaw so it ends up being this sinusoidal dance of pitching/yawing repeatedly

Excalibur is dodged by basically flying out of the red line before it fries you.

>How do you dodge the railgun in 8?
you dont have to dodge it, you more or less are forced to slightly slow down to serpentine to allow it to mis-lead on you so you can maintain your attack vector
if you somehow cant tell the difference between

and

if you have somehow been actively on these threads or social media theres no way you havent seen the

theyre not something you HAVE to dodge, because if you play around them again youre not dodging OR attacking
youre dodging AND attacking, and thats way more dynamic and engaging

also Cover formation allows you to focus on your target with less punishment

no im saying the excalibur trick works, but you dont have to sacrifice your attack vector, as you are very much expected to actively fight the ship and other targets while being bombarded

The F-2 is a bit more understandable since it is externally quite different to the F-16. It's also capable of Maritime strike while (most) F-16s aren't so it fills a different niche as a LASM slinger. Meanwhile the F-15J is just an F-15C with slightly different external features.

You have to remember, the vast majority of people who got this game are not us, who charge through the game on Elite and then on Ace and bleed it the fuck dry of stuff right away and then start doing insane shit for the hell of it. Especially given that 8 is easily the longest game in the series (Electrosphere doesn't count because nobody but the Japanese got the actual full version), and normies play games slower and worse. For them, it's still fresh, new, all that jazz and 8 will be riding that wave for quite a bit, probably focus on announcements for the online I imagine. In the meantime, like before, Kono will probably take some time to binge watch something cool and then decide to make a DLC campaign ripping them off, and it'll probably be awesome.

Odd question: Does anyone else feel like something is off with missile when doing head on passes? In campaign at least? It's felt off since I started compared to earlier games, like the tracking is just terrible against even bombers if you're attacking from the front. With both standard MSL and AAMs. Am I nuts?
>>
>>584208968
it should be 2 player coop, no more than 3
jesus fuck no more than 3, maybe even balance reduced ammo with a return line/mid combat resupply
Fuck it add raid-mechanic tier shit like synchronizing takedowns and tunnel entries to force players to knifeedge each other ala Ace combat 5
>>
Now that my honeymoon period is over, I feel that AC8 has a few(<5) highs which completely outshine AC7 but outside of those it's just a mediocre game which tries too hard to be "realistic" and "emotional" but ends up falling flat because I don't fucking care, The feats Trigger pulls off in 7 completely wipe the floor with 8. I want to do cool shit all by myself, Not with 10 other squads. I want that glaze. I love this feeling which 7 floods you with.
>>
>>584209051
Co-op assault if it was reduced to just say 4 players would be the right amount of targets for the amount of ammo players can carry.

like theres people in this thread who generally hate
>oh no i have to bomb the shore but also intercept enemies attacking my LCAC

>>
>>584209038
I had a much harder time getting kills from the front with standard missiles in this game when compared to previous ones
>>
>>584209190
I get that against enemy fighters (computer and human) that are maneuvering, but against Tu-95s I've had AAMs and MSL just straight up not track.

I don't know whats wrong with standard missiles when a head-on 4AAM even HPAA work like a charm against the bombers in M28
>>
Remind me, was M15 Carrier only? That seems like a huge nightmare if you are doing the Attacker only medal
>>
>>584209038
Yeah but it's not as bad as in AC6
>>
>>584209161
It's funny because I feel the opposite way, I'm always actively annoyed by how useless everybody is in 7's gameplay especially since you get multiple lines about your squad being competent
>Wiseman being glazed during dialogue several times
>Longcaster saying everybody in your squad is an ace in mission 19
8 still has a few scripted moments of your guys doing things, but you also get to see a lot more of it through gameplay which is also for the better considering you actually buy their planes in this game and this time it feels more than just an aesthetic choice to have guys have cool planes like it did in 5
>>
>>584209298
Well that's the thing when you just got four you typically need to have a person deal with ground and another deal with air. So if you split off into pairs where say one person is an attacker and the other a fighter they can essentially cover each other from both threats. There's usually enough targets on most of the assault missions to make that happen comfortably with four people but when there are eight players everyone is trying to chase whatever targets they can get.

speaking of bombers, why do large enemy aircraft now have multiple target locations?
does it exist JUST to make you waste ammo when you're trying to use multiple-lock-on special weapons against large formations?
>>
>>584209513
No it's out of a land base.
>>
>>584208678
I'd hope they do both. I also kind of assume they are different teams.
>>
>>584209649
Feels that way. I had thought it was to allow you to shed debris off them and get collateral kills but that never seems to be the case considering how their formations are. In fact, I think the only mission I've had that happen is the one with the mega transport planes.
>>
>>584209649
You can make them tumble down into other bombers in the formation by destroying side locations
>>
>>584209893
This. In mission 28 its actually a neat way to score multiple bomber kills without wasting too much ammo.

I really, really really really, think that if you use an endgame superplane or part (TLS/PLSL/EML/etc) in the campaign, the dialogue should completely change for the duration. Normal planes and land targets should shit themselves in terror and actually try to flee the map, elite squadrons should comment about how they weren't warned, and ESPECIALLY bosses that have the same plane or equipment should have an additional cutscene line or two where they compliment your ability to acquire prototype technology. Would've loved to have Selene say something to the effect of "Two Nightmares, we will see which is more terrifying."

>>
>>584207719
Yeah, I understand. I don't deem the soundtrack to be 'bad' per say, just not as memorable as the previous ones. Say for example in AC7, even when I was focused on taking down Sol Squadron at Farbanti, their OST was memorable. Same goes for Archange when it plays when you go head-to-head with Mihaly and for Daredevil when the drop plays when the Arsenal Bird's shield goes down. And even non-boss fight music was memorable: my fave would definitely be Faceless Soldier and Magic Spear (So good).

Nah, you either keep it to yourselves or accept your split up. They'll keep you together on base, but they see it as a liability to assign spouses together as they might prioritize them over the mission.
You might be thinking of officer/enlisted relationships. That you can pretend to have been before your service began and you can keep it, but an officer and enlisted, especially in the same unit, is a major no-no as the power dynamic is massively skewed, and the officer is supposed to... I don't know the right word, shepherd them and not fuck them.

The best weapon for him is SAAM because it reloads very fast so he spams it, and because he has ai magic so it keeps homing even if he points away from the target.

In hindsight, it's odd how nobody care Cope died to how they treated Queen Flight and Baxter. I'd be less weird if the time gap between Cope and you replacing it was significant, but it's immediate.
>>
>>584218506
Cope was a fraud and later revealed as a Sotoan. If he had a grave they would have spat on it.
>>
>>584217976
They're delaying the final attack to farm score, I don't think people realised how huge the time bonus is for e-sorties.
>>
>>584218506
Yeah, it's obviously based on how they know the player will react. We care about those characters since they've been there the whole game. We don't care about Cope since he was introduced like five minutes ago.
They're probably right, if everyone did go into drama mode at the start of the game then it would have been annoying.
>>
I'm playing Zero right now for the first time after 8 and I'm kind of whelmed. Does it get good later? I just beat mission 9 and it just seems like random, forgettable missions so far. The laser fight was boring.

Pixy doesn't seem that interesting, but he sure shoots things down, though. The "morality" system does seem neat, I'm guessing it changes the story?
>>
>>584218870
That's why there should have been a week or more between Cope dying and our replacing him. It wouldn't make a difference to the player.
>>
>>584218870
This, can't really have a character haunt the narrative when the audience knows nothing about them. Luckily, he literally haunts us so we can actually treat him like a character.
By the way, this is the metanarrative reason why the wingmen seem to start caring about Cope all of a sudden, about halfway through the game. It's because we, the audience, now know enough about Cope's story for the characters feelings to make sense. If they frontloaded that stuff, it wouldn't mean anything to us.

Yeah, I'm >>584217513 and our time bonus was worth S on its own. It makes the actual score look like a joke.
It's also funny because if you're really concerned about team score then the best way to get it is to spam jammers and farm the ESM support bonus instead of bothering with planes. We had a Barricader get 60000 points, which I assume was mostly from that.

Zero's best bits are in the latter half, but the game is overall overrated by nostalgia. It being more accessible will probably cause its "standing" to deteriorate.

Finally got around to actually playing the game and finished it over the weekend. Not sure I'd say it was better than 7, the main crew wasn't as charming as Spare Squadron and it didn't really have that pivot I enjoy in AC like AWWNB, 8492 or Kessler Syndrome. I really enjoyed some of the set pieces, Mission 15, 20, 28 but it lacked The Big One set piece like Megalith, SOLG, Alicorn. Triumphant and Megafloat Fatsia were not very exciting desu. I hope that the DLC conks that out because 7's best missions were also DLC. The actual gameplay is a straight upgrade, wingmen didn't feel completely useless for the first time in AC history and the campaign length is satisfying for the first time. I thought Mission 28 was going to be the last mission, and then 29 happened, and I thought that was the last mission, and then 30 happened. Reminded of playing 5 for the first time and getting my legs swept by Unsung War.. But I can't understand the "this is the best AC in the series" stuff that was going around. Also it really took me off guard that Tasha was actually NOT the designated Nagase despite the marketing.

It feels a lot like a "transitional" game where they're still hammering out a new direction and testing their new engine's capabilities so they'll probably do more with it down the line. It's still excellent though.

By the time they make a new game, UE6 will be out probably so they'll have to figure things out again.

Although if it takes them 7 years to make 9 it may actually use UE6.

Finally finished the campaign after 38h

Very pleasantly surprised that the two things i was most worried about before the release - how relevant and well implemented cope's ghost would be; and sotoa's "characterisation" - were some of the highlight of the game.

There are some flaws, The endurance and its crew take a back seat which is unfortunate given all the marketing around it, especially since we get that useless fort grays arc; there's a bit too much escort element in the game, and the last couple missions are a bit padded out (the events of M30 could easily have been included in M29, or they could have given us a better superweapon) but otherwise the campaign just werks.

iirc from Aces at War, the FCU was basically just an economic alliance until fairly recently. The forces stationed in Usea during the Lighthouse war were the IUN (International United Nations) Peacekeepers, i.e. Oseans.
So Kate and Baxter would have probably been part of the respective national pre-federalized/united armed forces airforce? I think Kate mentions her hometown being flattened by a Tonitrus, not entirely sure but she'd be from whatever member state the town was in. Baxter no idea.
We don't actually get much detail on the Usean states that went all in on unification, since the focus is (understandably) given to the separatists and independent San Salvacion.
On the note of the unified armed forces, I believe we are told that after unification a lot of the local armed forces felt sidelined. They mention this in the Radar Bubble mission I think, there's a lot of resentment of the FCU's rush to unify. That's likely because it's being propelled along by Enso Order as one of their (many) schemes to try to unify Usea.
IIRC isn't that Enso Order's overall plan? Either make a strong federalized USEA that they can hollow out OR have Sotoa hollow out Usea for them in a rush for Lebensraum and just do the Sotoans what they were going to do the Useans?

Forgive the speculation mixed with memory, I only read Aces at War once.

It's a good early ground pounder. Some maps, particularly any with ships, are better for it than others. The later attacker craft are overall probably better, though.

Dogfighting in it is sometimes doable, but pretty rough overall. 4AAM is one of the worst missile types for PVP. Somehow even worse than in 7. Standards are only ok with EW support. You'll have a hard time hitting anyone decent still.

5.5 second reload for UGB vs 7 seconds for UGBL. That's good but 7 seconds is still fast, and UGBL has bigger radius and more damage (and then more damage again from attacker bonus). And Fullback has better top speed/acceleration so it gets there first. Overall I think the Fullback is going to win at ground if skill levels are equal.
UGB reload is faster than you even need a lot of the time so reloading slightly slower is fine. Makes the ability that lowers the reload in return for more damage/radius an easy pick.

yeah i just finished playing through 3 and honestly after my first ending i should've just youtubed the rest
i think it's interesting to play for an ending or two just to get the experience and feel how the game plays but the planes are so weighty and the d-pad flying is meh, it's not super interesting gameplay to play through 5 times in 2026

bro... you do know you can select analog stick controls in the ingame settings?
>>
>>584227697
He probably doesn't know that you need to change your controller type on the emulator to Dualshock/Analog for that to even show up

I wish that enemy players in Warfare didn't jump around so jarringly. It's damn near impossible to judge a gun solution correctly.
>>
>>584227396
I think that has only happened to me once, since the patch.

When did /aceg/ become so retarded

Tasha calls me Ray and not Rex because I'm not Cope, I'm Hope.

Since this one anon asked for the name of the online "YOU ARE WINNAR" music by describing it as 'unga bunga',
every time my team's won, I think 'hehe, unga bunga'.
I just wanted to let him know this.

>put up against 4 faggots in warfare
>2 LAAMboats, 1 QAAMboat, one barricader
>all painted pink and sonyggers, likely a squad
>my randomly assorted gang of multifighters and me in an F15-C roll over them and make 2.5x their points
>manage to kill two of those faggots huddled up together with SASMs at the end of the match
the multiplayer might suck but the moments where you get to shit on some faggots (actual) are priceless

I like the idea of filling an aircraft's kill/usage gauge, and unlocking like a 4th SP weapon.

You’re welcome

I'm running the game on all medium settings, DLSS Balanced, on a 3060 Ti 1080pUW. It's fine.

I would make an Ace Combat-like that adapts BattleTech's AeroTech.

I'd start the player out in a Sparrowhawk.

Yes
I don't like every plane being upgradeable, that should be reserved for fictional plens

I will buy your game.

As long as we can kill Clanners.
