The Knight has reasons to exist that are not just checking off every box in a logic puzzle and showing how everyone can be tricked, the Knight matters BECAUSE of their relationships to Kris and the other principal characters as have been built up over five chapters so far that will be massively recontextualized by the reveal.It is unlikely that players would have guessed by Hotlands that Flowey was actually Asriel, let alone the mechanism that turned Asriel into Flowey, but the twist matters because it recontextualized everything that preceded it. The entire game, start to finish, had been Asriel trying to relive playing with his childhood best friend he couldn't let go, imprinting Chara onto you. That's something that outlives and completely strips of all importance any individual line of questioning you would have had prior to that about "why did Flowey say before they could save and load" and such.
