Honestly, it wasn't THAT bad. Yes, it sucks for melee classes but you can bait the attacks while pawns use the ballistas. Alternatively, just switch to archer with focus fire and explosive arrows.

how do you solve the difficulty question in DD without making Mage feel mandatory. playing hard mode without a mage is fucking miserable. you're CONSTANTLY healing and even getting hit by a few ghouls is enough to make you burn 4 reborants. let alone the bigger monsters and lesser demons.
