The second option as you say that uses gear to reroll, is to reroll one specific stat and not all of them. So if you have 2-3 stats that you want to keep, you use this method to reroll the rest without losing the stats that you would like to keep. Which brings us to the third and final option, complete reroll. It rerolls all your stats. I would do this until you roll 3 stats that you like or are okay with before you start rerolling singular attributes/stat whatever you wanna call them.
