Are these games actually worth playing or should I just keep jerking off to Nepgear? Everyone I know who's played them says they're terrible.

If you want my recommendation try rebirth 1 when it goes on sale for like 5 bucks, it’s a nice self contained story and a good introduction to most of the characters and the writing style of the series.

The main takeaway I’m getting from this conversation is that we should have an origin game for the hyperdimension continuity. It would start with neptune and the others being born, show them becoming friends, expand on neptune, iffy and compa becoming friends in the hyperdimension, show the candidates being born and have the ending be the start of rebirth 2.
