There's a lot about how Chara is used in Undertale that I have issues with looking back, but their ultimate fate in how they're laid to rest is a genuine masterstroke of minimalist storytelling from TobyToriel taking Chara's mummified body from that coffin and carrying them all the way across the Underground in her arms back to the place they first met is such an incredible concept, and there's so much you can read into with why she would do that when leaving Asgore, what it implies about Chara's place in the family, how bitterly divided Asgore and Toriel became at the endAnd it recontextualizes literally the entire game from start to finish in such a subtle and elegant way, from your first encounter with Flowey and why Toriel is there watching over that place to the very last rooms in the game.
