Looking for a few playtesters for a VR project I’ve been building. It’s vanilla WoW (1.12) in VR, on my own private server, and you play it with your body. You pull your sword off your hip and actually swing it, draw a bow, push your palm out to cast Judgement, lay a hand on a friend to heal them, and talk to whoever is standing near you with proximity voice chat.

Everything is built around three things: fun, functionality and fatigue. Every move should feel good to do, it should work every time without going off when you didn’t mean it, and you should be able to play for hours without your arms giving out. That last one is the hard part, so a lot of the design is about keeping your hands low and your motions small, with buttons as a backup for everything.

Where it’s at right now: questing, vendors, loot, the bank, mail and flight paths all work. Warrior and hunter have had the most real play time. The other seven classes have full move sets but nobody has played them in a headset yet. There’s a launcher that keeps your copy up to date, and you join over Tailscale, so nothing gets opened on anyone’s router.

What I need tested: every class in real fights, anything that triggers by accident, how your arms and back feel after an hour or two, voice chat on different home internet setups, and how it runs on different PCs and headsets. You need a PC VR headset that works with SteamVR (a Quest is fine through Link, Air Link, Steam Link or Virtual Desktop) and your own copy of the 1.12.1 client, since I can’t share any of the game’s files. If you’re in, let me know and I’ll send you the setup guide and an invite.

VROptician released a new frame insert variant with "better third-party eye-tracking compatibility" (i.e. doesn't block off half the light going to the eye) named vrchat variant

If you can live without trackers for a while longer, frame-tracker compatibility is likely going to be the absolute best on the market; simply because people can hack in other trackers. You could in theory just make something like a stripped-down controller with just the tracking LEDs and just attach it to your feet and hips and it'd be a tracker.
Fluxpose is also coming.
The short answer is lighthouses are still the gold standard but the frame opens up so much more and it's only been out a month so give it a few months.

- radio now has two modes - single click for squad, doubleclick for team
- you board vehicles with use button, get out with jump
- if you class has jetpack doublejump activates it
- you have NVGs on your cranium, trigger around head to turn them on, preferably not during day
- you have utility slot on weapon hand shoulder/hip
- some classes have shit stuck in their ass too
- don't bet on buildings providing permanent cover
- APC can carry 8 niggas but you have to get out to shoot anything
- that funny laser is really useful for making missiles know where missiles should be but it's also visible in NVG

How is it in 2026? I'm running LH only for over five years at this point, but from what I saw, hybrid playspaces are pretty comfortable nowadays with an extra puck that continuously syncs playspaces or even software that adjusts it based on IR glow from lighthouses. Given how many people run QP+pucks, I thought the problem is mostly solved.

No it's just syncing the playspaces is difficult and there's no readily available tracker-attachment places you can bodge and I don't have a 3d printer.
People who say space calibrator is fine are honestly just stockholmed into terrible tracking and had no idea. LHSync works for some (not well for me though)
