I'm not trying to hate Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave but it's genuinely just so bad.Someone saw the monastery and said "what if we upped that part to be a majority of the game but also make it so it's more annoying to engage with." It's overbloated with less reward for participating.The story is a slog and padded with every single scene being played out twice. Once in an actual cutscene with dialog and a second time 5 minutes later where they retell the entire scent with emphasis on what information we were supposed to know.Not only that, but almost every scene is an exposition dump with 20 different proper nouns and they only explain why they're important half the time. The worst part is even with this overrxplanation of everything, it just reveals more holes in the story. They didn't stop and think about how any of this stuff connected.The renown system is terrible. Originally just used for minor buffs that carry between playthroughs, now it decides who you can recruit and when you can upgrade units without actually making it any easier to earn renown.I just learned today from the DLC announcement that the character stories of the other 4 characters you meet in game and are featured in the prolouge are actually DLC that won't be added till next year.And honestly worst of all is it's still so horribly easy. Your very first arena match they double your roster as it starts and you're almost half the size of the enemy army, which wouldnt matter anyways cause a mage can tank hits from half the enemy team without dying.

If the DLC has a maddening mode, all it needs to do is change the exp formula, specifixally limit exp from free time and dungeons.
I usually avoid DLC, doubly so if it's DLC for a game that feels incomplete. I'm disappointed, but I am having fun, for the most part. The map and chores really do get to be too much and that fun is spread over too much game time, but when it decides to be Fire Emblem it can be really good. Toned down the focus on super moves from Engage, too. Ultimately I'll see how I feel in 6-10 months when the game is finished, but the game is already too long to feel this blatantly incomplete.
