I think I can finally articulate my grievances with the combat.you don't have any idea what you're doing at any moment and it makes it feel too simplistic and dull. when I push a button in Dark Souls or Monster Hunter I know exactly what weapon swing is happening. even in something that compares more closely, like Diablo or Path of Exile, you are using a single ability and you can see what that ability is doing. but in AION 2 you're putting multiple abilities into the macro so you don't even know what abilities are flying out. you just push your macro button and haha spells go brr! and it will only get worse as the game progresses and your "Combat Speed" improves.and on top of that there isn't really any timing to the attacks. it's just shit them out ASAP. if you learn boss patterns in Monster Hunter, you can charge your greatsword swing to have it connect as the monster is arriving at you and you have the narrow window to smack it in the head to daze it before it hits you. so again, we'll look at something more comparable, Diablo or Path of Exile. sure there isn't much timing here since you can't really stagger, and those games are about shitting out spells ASAP, but there's lots of movement in those games and the visual clarity isn't great in those games either since people often complain about being 1shot by shit they couldn't even see offscreen.idk this game compares most closely with the grinder isometric ARPG's that are all about going fast, but they still tried to stick to some of the traditional MMO mechanics like having too many abilities and the trinity. there's dodges and perfect dodges and some classes have active blocks, but it's like they're confused about their identity and the combat just misses the mark because of it.

You're not really commanding your character in this game like others. You're moreso commanding a script. And it doesn't feel good. I've made the complaint before but this would feel fine or even good if the "raid" tier content in Aion 2 were super unique or uniquely challenging, but as it stands it's just a budget, easier version of other MMOs. All the mechanics are mechanics you've seen before, and the only challenge we have so far comes from number bloat (thing hits hard or has a high DPS check) as opposed to any sort of mechanical complexity. I don't think you can make a game where your class plays itself AND the challenging content is underwhelming. Just begging people to get bored

There's also the fact that stats are snapshotted at the time they are summoned, so if you time it right it's probably better to use only 1 pet than spam them, more so if we had more cooldown to keep Ancient up for the Descent passive, I haven't even been resummoning my Wind Spirit anymore since if I do it with level 20 Benediction it has 45% PvE damage/reduction stat for the rest of it's life, and when it comes off cooldown it another temporary 45%.
So what's the upcoming content? All we have is the 2100 dungeons and Transcendence dungeons but they just because a bigger dps check and everything hurts.
