The basis of Sonic is like if you took Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney, and gave them the abilities & dynamic of Roadrunner & Wile E. Coyote, and then added the storytelling structure, world and themes of One Piece. One Piece is a virtually endless series of adventures where every arc is in a brand new setting with its own self-contained conflict that the MC just happens to stumble into and incite the plot just by existing, and when its all said and done, he leaves for the next adventure. But One Piece has something very specific that Sonic lacks. Direction. The overarching premise of One Piece is that Luffy wants to be the Pirate King. AKA, the most free man in the world. Everything begins from his pursuit of that goal, and every subsequent adventure is a step on the journey towards it. Sonic does not have that, because Sonic IS the most free man in the world already. Sonic is everything that Luffy aspires to become, before the series ever begins. Sonic has no grand impossible dream he chases, because he IS the impossible dream himself. He is free as the wind. And that is the problem. Sonic is aimless, he just "goes where the wind takes him" and this franchise is exactly like that. Sonic Team has the same sense of direction as Zoro. Meaning, none. And yet that's the point of Sonic's character, isn't it? No master except for the wind that blows free. A nomad. Just a guy that loves adventure. Yet the problem persists. Because the franchise is trying to be One Piece, but Sonic is not Luffy. If anything, Sonic is Ace. Luffy's brother ... who dies. Like Kamina died, for Simon's character growth. In this series, the one who has an "impossible dream" to chase is Sonic's little brother, Tails. Therefore, in order for the series to have a sense of direction, Tails -has- to be the captain of the ship, while Sonic is the wind in its sails. Sonic shouldn't die for Tails' growth, or vise-versa, Tails just has to be allowed to grow ALONGSIDE Sonic. From sidekick to equal.

I love Sonic games
The basis of Sonic is like if you took Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney, and gave them the abilities & dynamic of Roadrunner & Wile E. Coyote, and then added the storytelling structure, world and themes of Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a virtually endless series of adventures where every arc is in a brand new setting with its own self-contained conflict that the MC just happens to stumble into and incite the plot just by existing, and when its all said and done, he leaves for the next adventure. But Doctor Who has something very specific that Sonic lacks. Perspective. The overarching premise of Doctor Who is that the Companion travels with the Doctor. AKA, the most free man in the universe. Everything begins from stepping into the box, and every subsequent adventure is a step on their journey of growth. Sonic does not have that, because Sonic IS the most free man in the world already. Sonic is everything the Doctor is, before the series ever begins. Sonic has no grand character arc he chases, because he IS the impossible ideal himself. He is free as the wind. And that is the problem. Sonic is static, he just "goes where the wind takes him" and this franchise is exactly like that. Sonic Team has the same sense of navigation as the TARDIS. Meaning, none. And yet that's the point of Sonic's character, isn't it? No master except for the wind that blows free. A nomad. Just a guy that loves adventure. Yet the problem persists. Because the franchise is trying to be Doctor Who, and Sonic IS the Doctor. Which means he isn't the one who changes ... the Companion is. Like Rose or Clara grew, from their time in the TARDIS. In this series, the one who has an "arc" to chase is Sonic's little brother, Tails. Therefore, in order for the series to have a sense of direction, Tails -has- to be the Companion of the show, while Sonic is the Doctor in his box. Sonic shouldn't change for Tails' growth, or vise-versa, Tails just has to be allowed to grow ALONGSIDE Sonic.

I think people have a right to use filters if they so desire, but it is true that the filter lists are excessive and appear to favor certain shitposters or their preferences. The Sonic x Amy thing for example, when none of the genuine Amyanons seem to ship that, or the new characters of Rush and 06 being filtered out entirely aligning with the shitposter that insists on getting rid of them or warping conversation into hating one more than the other.
