Problem with romance in a AC game is that the protag is a literal blank slate voice less self insert. Can't really do Romeo and Juliet when Romeo can't even fuckin talk.

Even the "romance" is 8 are fags doing fujoshi tier "SHE LOOKED AT HIM SHES SO INTO HIM" Reddit shit of the handful of scenes we get of them interacting.

While it's really shitty that they fucked up the pause screen, the game tries really hard to beat you over the head that you're looking for a sun. Crabs also aren't yellow so I still don't understand how so many players are getting caught out, besides not properly visually identifying things when the entire gimmick is to not kill things until you do.

I hope Project Aces does more visual ID stuff like this honestly, it's great seeing how apparently a third of the player base got fucked up on the easiest trick in the book. Also way better than 7's Unknown yellows.

There is no romance in 8. Just the very thin implication that there may be something more to Rex and Kate's relationship. He could just as well be railing Tasha or Jackpot 9. That's the whole point of a self insert. If you wanna create an actual AC Romeo and Juliet you're gonna need more to the protag for it to be not absurd for a Tewy type Juliet to fall for him.

She's the XO, the tard wrangler for all the pilots, the captain of the ship doesn't brief pilots. Once more, he's also an admiral, so that would mean he'd do even less on a service boat involving just the pilots.
>Vice Admiral, or VADM, is a three-star rank that generally operates at the upper echelons of global naval planning. VADM officers commonly hold positions such as Commander of a Unified Combatant Command component, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, or other senior leadership roles within multinational coalitions. They oversee multiple task forces, coordinate complex maritime operations, and integrate naval power with air, land, and space domains.

Gordon would be the one communicating with other boats, tard wrangling the entire Endurance fleet and coordinating with central Naval command (which was speared so there was none anymore). This is why one of the few times he talks is when the Oden of White Valley Base hails the Endurance to offer welcome, because that exchange is between two big wigs.

This isn't even the first time in the series where the friendlies realize they stumbled on an I Win button and use it for everything, they've done that in basically every game since 1.
>Phoenix gets hired to solo the Skully Islands
>Phoenix gets hired again to be a pincer against Coup forces by himself or with a wingman, with the entire army being the other pincer

>Mobius One becomes so legendary that his handlers eventually use him to solo insurrections, TWICE
>Andersen and then Harling use Razgriz to end the war
>Allied Forces realize Cipher is literally their only shot at stopping AWWNB before they launch V2, friendly squads literally sacrifice themselves so Cipher can make it through the canyon and reach Avalon
>the entire Emmerian war effort is carried by Talisman providing all their air support. that, or Talisman took it easy and just coordinated ground troops to alpha strikes against the high value targets

Only from a narrative perspective. More rank means you appear less. It's like how a show about a boat centered on the command nest would be all about the captain and his shirt suffers, but a show centered on the maintenance crew would mean the captain never even shows up as a character. So him showing up to dress down the XO when she disobeys orders makes sense, him giving a speech to the crew makes sense, him talking when hailed makes sense and him thanking Joker Flight in the final mission for protecting the Endurance makes sense.

It's only odd he's flake because usually the captain of a boat is more of a prime time character in familiar fiction.

I think it's more of a case of people struggling with spatial visualization. They don't think in three dimensions well. You see it in shooter games where it's rare to see opponents who ever look up. They have a hard time imagining how things fly through a three dimensional space. They will struggle to estimate where a target can be the moment that it flies out of their field of view. They just know to fling their plane in circles following the arrow until they see the target again, but during that time they probably forgot where the ground is.

They don't see the apple. They did eat breakfast this morning.

It might depend on the missiles in question. I'm fond of doubling down on speed for HVAA missiles. I've haven't experimented with HCAA yet, but I saw someone advocating for +range on them since they're kind of slow and have a bit of potential to miss and come around for a second pass at a turning target a bit like how heavy missiles in Armored Core can just keep hounding people, but not to such an extreme extent as in armored core.

even higher status characters have appeared more often in the other games, like nikanor in 5

>>
>>584846601
No, I don't think they're full of shit. Being a liability is inherent to being a Singularity. It isn't just "he flies good and kills all the baddies", Singularies are capable of leading rebellions and overthrowing governments. So while Trigger may have never intended to do such a thing, the Osean government doesn't know that and can't trust him.

Pro Tip: If you upgrade your roll and then upgrade your yaw too, you can do tight turns without slowing down. The caveat being, you have to do both at the same time, and you need a jet that has good, wide yaw, initially. The Fulcrum is one example, but you also have to max it out, so high tier six gen jets are more worth maxing out until PA gets off its ass to add real point limits.

Which is why I think the UK is supposed to be North Point (because NP doesn't like the rest of the FCU) and the Sotoans did not fuck around with.

Could be wrong though, there are no true analogues to any country in Strangereal, everything is mixed a thousand times over.

It depends. Going slower means a tighter turn radius, but actually being slower makes you much more vulnerable to getting ganked by a third party. In more realistic flight sims, maintaining your kinetic energy is serious business. That's why so many air combat maneuvers try to "slow down" wihthout actually wasting their energy by throwing on the breaks. For example they'll climb to convert their kinetic energy into potential energy that can be reclaimed in a future dive, or do rolls/wide turns to spread their movement into multiple directions to slow their movement in one direction.

If an opponent in front of you is turning and he's turning tighter than you can match, a novice play might be to throw on the brakes to slow yourself down so that you can match the turn. But a better play would be to climb into a high-yoyo so that you stay behind the opponent, "slow down" by banking some of your energy into the climb, get your nose on target with your now tighter turning circle, and then reclaim your speed with your dive onto the target.

One of my campaign nitpicks is that there are too many annihilate/escort missions. I actually liked the gimmick canyon run, bunker busting, dust storm search missions from 7 but I guess they filtered too many normalfags so they simplified the campaign.

>>
>>584859406
I played 6 right before 8 and no, not really. Just like in previous games you'll fail if you're not babying your infantry, they just have more units that can die and have more radio chatter about it now. 7 also had a couple of missions where infantry couldn't wipe their ass like Stonehenge Defensive and Homeward, but those like in 8 try to emphasize that the army's pretty fucking outnumbered and they need godlike air support to make it through.
>>
Scrambles really should give guaranteed gold blueprints too
>>
>>584859680
Good gimmick missions are definitely a pretty nice way to break up gameplay, it's kind of stressful narratively to keep going from one high tension mission to another without somethiing simple/different to break it up. I guess it's part of 8's narrative that the FCU's constantly going all in just to stand a chance and that helps give the game is own identity, but the long campaign and full throttle nature of missions makes it a bit "heavy" to replay.
>>
>>584859680
>the fun missions filtering everyone
the dust storm mission was peak
>>584859724
idk, just feels like every other mission is an escort missions. But I guess that's more to do with the narrative than anything. Say what you will about 7 but the fact that the game was in re-write hell with two and a half storylines did help with mission variety.
>>
>>584859406
They needed to drop some of the escorts and give us more annihilation. Maybe even pretend one's an eacort and have it shot down at the beginning. Also at least one or two more canyon runs with not crap planes.

6 really made me appreciate 7's design choices more. Most 6 missions are decently long and boil down to bomb the shit out of everyone and/or delete an entire airforce, then do it two more times until the mission ends. 7 tries to pace things out better by forcing the player to do something different every few missions, and average length is shorter to try not to overstay its welcome.

7's weird development and mishmash of ideas let them include some really different mission settings. Dogfighting in thunderclouds among chinese valley spires, playing peakaboo in snowy mountains, facetanking a storm in a literal sand pit are all very creative and completely different from each other.

I really do find 6 to be one of the most interactive though. The contrails are so visually cool and I really miss them in 7 and 8. Also, I love that the ally attack is meaningfully powerful and that you really do feel like you're fighting over a huge operation in the missions.

7 had such a variety of missions that even if they're not all bangers they're all memorable. I would've loved it if 8 had as much variety, as opposed to just being shooting galleries. I really missed having crazy wind in some of those levels, like 2 On the Run in the mushroom cloud and Maximum Payload when you're shooting down Podarges. Or maybe they could've gone really crazy and made 8 a branching story where one option lets you desert the FCU.

6 definitely has the strongest mechanics in the series, it's a shame that it got banished to the 360 for reasons known only to Bamco. Its gameplay is incredibly solid (if repetitive, and some things being too overtuned like Allied Attack and the gun), and I wish Project Aces would take more from it.

I definitely phrased my post poorly. I do appreciate 6 but it also recontextualized a lot of 7 for me, making a lot of 7's design choices feel like an interation or different approach to how they did things in 6. Not that they pulled off every change well, but at least they were thinking about how to keep things balanced. Like making time limits relevant again by cutting them down significantly and adding a clear time component for S-Ranks.

>it's a shame that it got banished to the 360 for reasons known only to Bamco

>Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation was developed alongside Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Due to this, the team was spread thin and the game's development faced some trouble. However, the team persevered as they felt they needed to deliver a quality experience in an era where the gaming landscape was starting to change. With the possibilities provided by the Xbox 360 hardware, Project Aces developed the game around the concept of two large militaries clashing, aiming to realise battlefields on a scale larger than any previous Ace Combat title.[5]

>The announcement was also disclosed through the March 2007 issue of Famitsu Weekly. On April 27, in an interview, producer Hiroyuki Ichiyanagi stated that the choice to make it an Xbox exclusive was made after research on new game hardware by Project Aces; as well, he commented that the decision was partly made because it was believed that fans had been kept waiting "for a long time", commenting on the timeframe between Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, and to satisfy popular demand for online gameplay.[33]

>the characters and plot of the next AC game
>What do you create

early 2020s mercenary story going to different conflicts around the world that kicked off during the Kessler-event blackout

and the story takes place over a few years, so there's lots of time for world changes and character development, people getting jaded, conspiracies developing, etc.
toward the end of the blackout period, as the big countries are starting to clear the orbital debris and replace the world's satellite network, you get a "late Wild West" / "this is the closing of the frontier" feeling of melancholy from the world
and that pushes the other characters to feel like this is their last chance to do stuff, prompting them to rash action near the end

by the end of the story, your squadron has seen a ton of shit, and your mercenary wingmen have all developed different ideas about how they should resolve things in the plot / in the world more broadly
but their ideas for the future are all mutually-incompatible
so you have to pick which one (and which faction / plan / worldview) to side with
and that choice changes the last few missions of the game, depending on the path that you're on, changing who and what you're fighting for / against at the end

kind of a spiritual successor to ACZ, I guess
between the mercs, and the darker tone, and looking back to an earlier time period, and the branches for replay value
>>
>>584862153
>Sotoan orbital superiority forcing you to fight inside an underground mine to secure some strategic objective.

A tip for my fellow Berkut enjoyers in online mode: The "SAAM (Aim Range Spec) widens the aiming circle but shortens the lock-on distance. It doesn't decrease the missile range. In practice this doesn't really nerf you at all since you can simply dumb fire the missile into the air. It will pickup the lock in a few moments once the target flies into range of your tracking radar.

Someone at GR or Neucom finds out they have a plan to over time push every government to form a single unified one and starts trying to tell the world, so they have an actual war to cover it up, but things spiral out of the controlled planned war because both sides constantly go "well if we attacked this, they'd be repairing it for years and we'd be really far ahead" and using the excuse they need to make it look real to shut down the guy leaking their plans. It's also heavily hinted at that people whose parents were in A World With No Boundaries have got high up in both companies. The player is from UPEO and turns up to shut down whatever they're trying to do.

As a day 1 owner of a 360, I definitely saw Ace Combat 6 on shelves at the time. I just never bought it; I actually bought HAWX on a PS3. I think it was because I had a bad experience with Armored Core 4 where I felt totally lost in the setting and couldn't get into the gameplay at the time, which was too fast for me to really adapt, and so I assumed Ace Combat 6 would give me a similarly difficult experience since it was the 6th entry in the franchise.

You start the game as a leading pilot of Recta as it invades Belka and Gebet. The war goes well until a Belkan ace starts killing off NPCs that you've met and fought alongside in the first 8 missions. Then you're forced on the defensive as Belka's superweapons are used against Recta's aerial fleets and the Belkan Ace cuts a swathe through other fronts in the war. You are forced into a desperate defense of Cor where Recta finally falls and surrenders, and Belka reclaims its land.

But the game doesn't end there. Defecting with your squadron and support team, you become a mercenary outfit that flies against Belka at the behest of Rectan resistance groups. You get to one of 4 emblems and names for your squadron, slowly waging a guerrilla war against Belkan logistics and superweapons, until you face and take down Belka's ace. But the victory is bittersweet: your airbase is captured, you return to be a prisoner of war, and eventually you are released and reunited with your comrades as civilians, while above you either flies the Belkan Ace you spared or another squadron of guerrillas fighting in a new war.

>Recta
I've always like them as a potential conflict setting

the capital of Recta, Cor, is so far away from most of the rest of the country (especially the parts that they most recently took from Belka) that I've always seen Recta as the most-likely location for a pro-Belkan separatist / reunification movement (aside from South Belka, I guess)

there are a bunch of studies that show, at both the regional subdivision (i.e. US state) and national levels, that when a capital city is far away from the population that it governs, it is reliably less responsive, more corrupt, and less liked by its people
whether it's because
>they're more out-of-touch with the needs and wants of their population
>they're less-able to distribute resources around the territory
>they're less able to project police / military power and maintain their hold over the territory
>they're just using their relative isolation and lack of oversight to get away with whatever corruption / mistreatment they can
whenever I see Cor, this is all that I can think of

there have to still be Belkan populations in the north-west of Recta, and they almost certainly hate how they're governed from Cor
if PA ever thinks to apply real-world political science to their map, Cor's location is the reddest of red flags

Nothing stopping them, but they don't seem to want to drift from the traditional formula too much.

Dunno if this is controversial, but I would actually like for them to start making voiced protagonists with an actual character. Would be a nice change of pace from the three decades of mute no facers. Or even have POV swaps so it isn't just one dude slaying an entire nation's military.

you play as a yuke squadron during the events of the circum-pacific war. the first few missions show the start of the war from the yuke side until you sink the OFS Kestrel, Buzzard, and Vulture, on their way to the Bannion Sea, as well as shooting down a random squadron of F-5Es, radically shifting the events of the war

She does but only barely. D-Ray's just black military man, like one of the GI Joe characters no kid had as their favorite or the one who dies at the climax of some Netflix tacticool movie to raise the stakes. Major Rehl does crack a few jokes here and there with her crew and with Bishop. D-Ray and his co-pilot could have been a really good opportunity for some banter which is a shame.

What do you guys think the next superweapon is? I'd put my money on Excalibur. It almost feels like it was too complicated for launch so they turned what they had into Chandelier, as it makes far more sense to have to the AC0 thing, unless each superweapon precedes the next battle pass and it's AC6 flavored, in which case I am going to coom buckets while deleting people with my mini missiles.

I would've groundpounded as well but the Fullback locked in his choice and I wanted to level the Barricader. I knew Scofield Plat wouldn't have a lot of air targets for me to play with going into it, I didn't know how much NO FUN ALLOWED I was about to give the other team. I've mostly seen Fort Grays in the Barricader where I'd farm YF-23s and then mess with the other guys after the second wave spawns and the game makes you collide with each other, so many teams just don't play attacker or take any A2G weapons.

Other anons have mentioned that warfare is just a race to see whose attacker is better and whose jammer is more annoying, but no one can really convey how cancerous it is to not be able to play the game for like ten minutes while watching the other team's score go up exponentially.

What if they made you fight every superweapon there is and it's all on a single map. Some superweapons (like Excalibur) have a massive range and can target you whereever you are but some can only be of immediate danger only if you're near them.
Some weapons (like Chandelier) have additional stuff that can be launched (let's say it's nukes) and if you fail to stop the launch you can attempt to intercept it but if you fuck up that too it covers a big area and destroys/damages every plane in whatever area it covers.
Also, you can only bring one plane and resupply exactly once. If you die - you can't respawn.

It's a mix of like 5 different languages. Just like the AI in the real world immediately breaking languages to communicate faster, but this seems to almost be a malfunction, like it wasn't supposed to be voicing them but a switch was flipped that it can't unflip itself.
Also with the same sequence it says different things, some are simple calls like firing the SLCM, while others a calling specifically that the SLCM fired is aiming for the stern or amidships. Very eclectic.

It doesn't call where it's aiming, rather where it takes damage during the ramming segment. It is interesting how many unused lines it has though, there's a bunch of extra weapon calls and seemingly a forcefield activation callout as well
>>
I love the MiG 29, worth investing in multiplayer tho?
>>
>>584866965
It doesn't. It only gets 1 MGP upgrade that increases damage by 20% and one general upgrade that increases damage to targets within 1000m by 10%.
Su-25 gets the anti surface attack modification that increases damage by 20% but as an attacker it also has a natural buff against ground.
Su-25s base(non-MGP) gun also deals double damage.

Then I guess I'll have to listen to it again.
I was specifically listening for "zerstört" or "gebochen" before, but I never heard it.

Also, "gebrechen" is apparently more like "affliction" or "defect," so maybe that's what they were calling out when parts got disabled. I'm nowhere near fluent enough to know whether or how it might be used in a military context like this.

If a word sounding like that was in there, then the only similar-sounding cognates that I could find are "gebroken" in Dutch and Frisian, which mean basically the same thing anyway.

I host emergencies when I get the chance and they fill very fast. Seems like there are a lot of people on the lookout.
I'm pretty surprised you're allowed to do it, given that they deliberately tried to stop people doing that in ACI by disguising raids as normal maps on the server browser.

Buddies, do you like the current flare system in the newer AC games, or do you think it should be changed somehow?
>>
>>584876314
It should be removed, it adds nothing interesting to the game.
>>
I think EW planes were a massive fucking mistake. At least in PvP(vE). It just fucking ruins the entire momentum of a match and reduces it to either one side utterly curbstomping the side that didn't sortie with an EW, or a tedious slog of a gunfight where people just spin in circles until the EW runs out. I don't have the answers, but I know for a FACT that there has to be a much better way to implement those planes without it just shitting all over the match. I mean, genuinely, it's utterly unplayable in 1v0 scenario. That's not how that shit works in real life OR in strangereal, you remember any normal enemy NPC aircraft that suddenly became magically untargetable and could suddenly sling missiles at 90° because a fucking AWACS showed up?
>>
>>584876347
Agreed, there's no point to flares. They don't add anything to the gameplay, and you don't get many so you need to dodge most missiles anyway. There's no reason for them to exist.
>>
>>584876314
Giving everyone 4+ "get out of missile free" cards in a 5 minute mission was a mistake. It forces them to overbuff missiles and makes direct-fire weapons like the TLS way too OP since they can get around the flares. It also makes massacring NPC AI targets way too easy since missile tracking and capacity is tuned for players who can flare them.
They aren't as much of a problem in DM/TDM because PvP is constant but when you've got a Fullback just farming points the entire mission it can save its 6(six) flares for the few PvP encounters it will get into.
>>
>>584876015
Seems like you have to "start search" each time.
>>
>>584876314
We'll never lose flares so maybe just lower the amount we get and drastically lower their regen and effectiveness
Maybe enemies on higher difficulties could have missiles that ignore flares or something

Nope. The only attackers worth flying in online are the Fullback and the Strike Eagle and the Fullback is better outside of Emergency sorties.
>>
>>584876314
I do not use flares.
I have never used them since they were introduced to the series—just because the old games didn't have them, and I feel that the new games shouldn't, either.

That seems very hard to do right. They'd need to be on a very long cooldown to avoid being broken, which means there's a very good chance they wouldn't have recharged by the time they were needed again. Very hard.

That's reasonable given that ships have a lot of hp and are big targets so they'd be very vulnerable to guns otherwise.

No fuck you they're just AAA/SAMs on water. They shouldn't be super tanky vs guns, they should die just as fast as their land versions.
>>
>>584837978
Two parallel campaigns that alternate which side you're on. AC6 style operations with AC8's peristence of surviving allies. Final confrontation has you playing the side you've gotten the least score/least surviving allies in an all out massive battle against the other side including against the mute schizo you've been playing as on the other side in a super plane that's actively fucking up your mooks. The player characters are twins that were seperated at birth.
>>
>>584872356
>Whoa ooooooooooooooh
>>
>>584876314
flares for the player seem kind of token and flares for enemies are just randomly not being able to kill them with missiles occasionally

there are some interesting uses of it (escort planes using flares to protect the orbital launchers is a good example) but most of the time my only interaction with them is when it becomes egregious (shadow shitting out infinite flares for no particular reason other than that's how they make them not die because the shadows all kind of suck)

I recently watched dIgital foundry's video on 8 since it also served as a series retrospective and for the longest time I always heard Assault Horizon Legacy was received terribly from journalists back in the day when I first got a 3DS (to be fair I hadn't played an AC game back then and was about to phase out of handhelds at the time). Hearing John's thoughts on it had me curious to look into it on my 2DS, what're your guys thoughts on it?
>>
when do you buddies think 8 will go on sale? during christmas?
>>
>>584878620
It's pretty middling and not much better than AC2.

The best mission from 2 still is the best mission in Legacy too.
>have to fight the enemy ace team
>suddenly ZoE shows up and the ace team fucks off to regroup
>you shoot down ZoE and go back to dogfighting the enemy ace team
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WomZUtSfyvk
So cool. However 2 had Fire Youngman playing on that mission so it's actually tie between the two games.
>>
>>584872289
Its shit but it's also cheap, so it balances out, plus you should always have your planefu maxed in multiplayer even if its bad. Thats how thesebgames work I don't make the rules.
>>
>>584878620
it's alright as it's own game but it fails as a remake of 2. it strayed too far from the original whilst not changing enough, in particular it doesn't do a great job at tying it to Strangereal and only does the bare minimum in regards to it
>>
>>584878620
I thought it was decent, but I haven't played 2 yet to compare it properly
The inclusion of DFM is a serious black mark though, even if you can beat enemy aces without it it's clear those fights are balanced around it so they can be a real pain in the ass
As far as portable games go X is still the king and JA is still at the bottom
>>
>>584877628
Not hard at all, just add Flare upgrade parts properly so if some ECM fag wants their, in this example, dogshit flare timer to be better, they have to waste a part slot. Part slot economy is the most important thing about this ass of an online mode already and planes like the F-14A already have an Ability to equip more flares on a shorter cooldown. So just make more flare manipulation a thing for everyone officially.
>>
>>584878620
the controls take a bit of getting used to but it's fun. I'd like it more if it had good controls but with the 3DS you can only do so much.

Would the modern ACs be better off having an original proprietary engine or sticking with UE5 for a hypothetical quick turn around sequel/remake?

It's probably too late for them to bother making a whole new engine when they've been using UE5 for a minute, but unless UE5 makes more improvements to optimiztiong (lol) I think they've maxed out what they could realistically push out of the engine.
>>

>3 Emergency Sorties and 2 Scrambles in one day, without having to party up for any of them

>>
>>584882398
Realistically, there's no option but to use Ue5 unfortunately. One can only hope that the ai bullshit they're pushing recently will be better at optimisation than the coders they've had before.
>>
>>584882398
They haven't made a new engine since ACAH lol, they're going to stick to unreal engine.
AC7 ran fine tho, even if it wasn't as graphically impressive for its time as ACAH, AC8 doesn't quite run fine, but it's pretty enough i'm satisfied, Nanite really helps a ton.
>>
>>584882131
Well. In shuttle transport escort there
1. 2x B-2. You can't intercept them if you not run to fire point right after mig-31 close to shuttle
2. Shittons of enemies that... can do nothing after shooting (and missing) shuttle once. They literally fly 4 km ahead of shuttle and do nothing until player come.
3. There hidden explosives in transporter, and Selene will trigger it if you will go down Shadow100 before 99 will come. Also 100th squad have void shield that he allowed to use only if their plane the last survived and 99th not come.
4. If you will stuck near transporter, all 100500 f18 will do nothing and just die as obedient dogs, and then also Shadows.

Also there not "nothing happens". Mirages spawn in like 1 min after mission start, and then rate of spawn only increased - or it can be tied to down planes but for me it have the same result.

I should be able to down Shadows just in way as i able to down B-2: trading vip safety for long-term advantage.

The problem is if they go much further in the timeline then every plane has to have COFFIN, and a lot of people would be unhappy about that. They want a plane that looks like it does in reality, not like this. And that's only GR planes, if they bring in Neucom and have half the roster be fictional then it'll be even worse.

Not necessarily, that can easily be retconned as a false presumption Simon makes for his simulation, a "worst case scenario" type thing where Nemo would always face advanced up-to-date aircraft.

I played RDR1 on Xenia with no issues so it should be fine, but I read on /v/ that the recomp is better(?) despite being AI-assisted(?) or otherwise

>>584888652
Recomp worked well for me in June, I've heard it got easier to install
>>
>>584888652
The recomp is definitely better, cutscenes still don't work on Xenia last I heard. Recomp also has native 60fps and ultrawide if that's your thing.
Keep in mind the GoD format download we have in our Mega doesn't work (or at least it didn't when I tried it). You'll need an ISO or the extracted game files from a disk image.

>Elite and Ace for sure.
No. On Elite i manage to down 3x Shadows just in first seconds by lucky spawn, and their deaths trigger dmg to transport. Their dmg, not enemy planes.
Also i twice killed 5x Shadows before transport was down, and can't finish 6x since it's immortal.
And transport survived enough to trigger ambush.
>>
>>584843009
Yes, greatly reduced by Crew Skill but the longer the match goes on and the more high-gs you pull the worse the pilot gets at handling them, even my aced F-14A had trouble keeping himself conscious if one too many MiG-23s got in dogfight range.
>>
I am at sergeant rank in MP, should I get the Mirage? Also...just how freaking lethal is LAAM boats + ESM anyway?
>>
>>584892105
Mirage is decent if you have the spare Zoll. I wouldn't spend any gold blueprints on it though. Unless she's your planefu, but you wouldn't even have to ask that if she was, right?
>>
>>584892105
Not anymore you'd be better off saving for the SU-34. As for LAAM and ESM? Strong but LAAM are easily dodged by players.
>>
>>584892105
Very lethal if you aren't paying attention but survivable if you realize that if it's been 1.5s and the missile warning hasn't gone away. All in all, still worse than a TLS user with yaw parts.

LAAM is more about mopping up NPCs rather than players, I'm not sure ESM makes much of a difference at those ranges
ECM on the other hand will keep you nice and cozy in Warfare, snug bastards

Finished my work week and just beat Mission 8 this morning after several tries. Had to figure out that I needed to defend my allies as well as focusing on the bombers then it wasnt too bad besides all the low-flying crashing
I feel very cucked that Tasha wouldnt kill anyone for me, but the second Coster needs it she instantly goes into murder mode

What's the counter?
I mean we won anyway thanks to having a Growler that allowed us to blow up all the npcs before his missles even reached them, but surely EW shouldn't be the answer to everything.

Against NPCs, extremely. You can clear entire formations in seconds thanks to the increased reload rate. It won't really help against players, though, unless you're slinging LAAMs at an already-developed furball.

ACI had eleven coop maps and four emergencies. And like a million planes.
The only way AC8 is better is that it has five warfare maps while ACI only had three, and ACI's were all basically the same (they only had ships as NPC targets, so they all played identically since you can't have varied terrain on an ocean).
I guess AC8 has scramble too except who gives a shit?

Cost limit would be a good start. It is not fun to have noob phantoms as teammates or enemies. More enemies to assault or make it just a 4 man score competition between them. Warfare is pretty fun but needs the cost limit.

>>
>>584894569
PW is pretty fantastic and finally adds an actual WSO character to the game unlike AC

I also find the story far more compelling than 7 and 8, but 8 does a bit more to flesh out your Wingmen.

Most notably PW has the best boss fights for a plane game, ever, by a country mile
>>
>>584896000
Just be prepared to go fast otherwise everyone will eat all the targets, and don't expect to win
4 player would really do wonders for this game
>>
>>584895703
Have ACO be separate from any mainline games. It is a "living multiplayer" that crossovers with games as it is released.
It has a dedicated team to get it working, so Project Aces can focus on singeplayer games.
You can, however, boot up ACO through the singleplayer menu.
Tier rank matches as an option, so new players can fight new players and old players won't disconnect when they see a new player on their team.
"Co-op" PVE missions, teams of eight fighting overwhelming odds. This also makes new players more palatable to old players.
>>
>>584895703
Four players instead of eight in coop.
Make coop a single team. The winning team doesn't even get anything for winning (I've seen a lot of people upset because there's no pure coop mode except there fucking is, the game is just lying when it says the winners get a bonus, what the fuck is that?) so there's no reason not to.
More maps, they're all reused from 7 so they can't be that much effort to make.
A big special rebalance, that's already obvious. Probably delete jammers as a category entirely, there's no way to make them work well. ECM is cancer, ESM is going to be either worthless or too good.
No blueprints. Plane specific blueprints can already be bought with zoll so get rid of them entirely and increase zoll costs to compensate. Having the only renewable source of gold blueprints being a randomly spawning mission with a daily cap is also really fucking bad. If you want to make levelling planes more grindy to compensate for that then whatever, fine, just get rid of the gold blueprints shit.
Probably change abilities around somehow because some planes get good ones and some get bad ones and it can be pretty unfair. Not sure how to do that exactly though. If you can pick what you want everyone will just go for the best ones, but there needs to be some sort of choice to prevent situations like Flanker E being terrible.

Probably needs a lot more but that's a start.

>>584897983
Personally I thought flying him back to the carrier was more of a gut punch, considering how Kate was handled I was really taken off guard by that part (which was presumably the point)
They did a pretty good job of pacing that whole sequence out, even though I was annoyed that Baxter took the shot at all, he was a reliable enough wingman (finally, after all these games) and a decent enough character that they kinda earned that moment
And then you see Kate and it inadvertently becomes hilarious, when it rains it sure pours

I might rewind to watch that part at least, I'm taking a break as it is, but vtubers are gay so I won't share my opinion on this actual video

I think UGBL + 4AGM is the better setup. You just don't need 40 UGBLs in a 5 minute match, you're more limited by their reload than their capacity. And 4AGMs, while not a great A2G weapon by themselves, can supplement your UGBL to snap off small groups of targets or some spread out targets while your UGBLs are reloading or while you're beelining it for friendlies at mach fuck because you've got some SASM spammer on your ass.

If there no magically respawned missiles i prob need restart.
>>
>>584902495
There's a resupply line, but there are also magic respawning missiles
I also relied on those for my first run, I had to wait for them to punch holes in the final TGT

>Cringe at first because I thought it was a fake out, they wouldn't pull that right after what just happened on Rocky Island right
>Turned to emotion when it became obvious that it was real
>Cringed again at the actual fake out shortly after

How can the whole economy rely on mercenaries. Are there that many wars? Can they really pay for stuff like healthcare and infrastructure (through taxation) from mercenary contracts alone?

Man that was a legit fucking breakdown, not even some overreaction for the camera.
>>
Why is the altitude of enemy aircraft called out in ANGELS while the altitude of friendly aircraft is called out in CHERUBS. Cherubs are just baby angels, right? Is the implication that all your allies are little babies?

I still can't believe they would just kill the main character before the show even ended.

>Are there that many wars?
It's fucked up to think that Usea might actually not be the worst place on Strangereal, since we know how many wars go on there
The fuck is happening over in Wellow
>>
>>584903308
It'd be neat to have an Ace Combat spinoff game that reveals during the course of the various games there were wars nobody heard about and the average Strangereal citizen just has this constant thousand yard stare all the time.

Condottiere out of a broken up Erusea. Like how Shilage produced great fighter aces. And instead of heavy cavalry it's fighter bombers and aircraft carriers.

Tasha leaving a Yuke postcard on Baxter's grave in the credits sequence damn near killed me, too.

Seriously why the hell did they do that?

I just assumed Cope's ghost went off to find Kate since Joker needed a fourth again
Though the fact that Baxter might've seen Cope run off while he was dying is a bit tragic/hilarious

Someone needs to make an AoE2 Strangereal mod or something
Maybe Mount & Blade
>>
I'll probably regret saying this because Paradox games are cancer, but HOI4 Strangereal mod.

He did say he'd wanna receive a postcard at some point.

They've been working on one for a while now, Project Ulysses I think
>>
>>584904208
There's a mercenary company fighting you in the Rocky Island missions and their radio chatter is all about how their home nation NEEDS the money from their work to stay afloat.
>>
>>584904830
This is the first I'm hearing this
>>
>>584904776
>taken down from Steam Workshop and basically dead due to modder drama

How far into the game are you?

don't be hard on him, they barely bring it up in game, it's easily missable
>>
>>584904969
That's unfortunate, but I'm not sure it'd be a good fit for Ace Combat in the end
A lot of the best Ace Combat stuff comes down to the second, and that game measures stuff in hours at minimum (I think, its been a while)

I'm on my fourth campaign run

Yeah as i said i noticed it only when battle ended.

a tale old as time; if you thought artists malding over AI was loud, the modding troons are about to be insufferable now that everyone is jeet vibe modding.

I'm pretty sure they're legally obligated to mention over open comms that the Savian economy relies on mercenaries
It's dual purpose advertising, it convinces you that they must be good but also to take pity on their country because shit must really be fucked

>"I'm a Savian mercenary. I won't leave until I make a sale."
>>
Would the Savians have accepted a contract from Ustio when they were getting buttfucked by Belka?
>>
>>584899107
people with brains don't want exposure because streamers bring their dogshit opinions and knuckle dragging fanbase and then go back to whatever shit they have 10 billion hours in again after they rape your favorite series into being a homogenized blob because suits think it prints money.
>>
>>584905998
Would Ustio have had enough money to pay for more mercenaries in the first place? It seemed like they were squeezing pennies for a while
>>
>>584905104
Finished the campaign 6 times. All medals + aces + cheevos
>>
>>584902972
Didn't the Swiss rely so hard on mercenary work that an unacceptable number of working-age men left the country, and so they had to outlaw it?
>>
>>584905998
If Ustio could've afforded a real mercenary army they wouldn't have made a deal with the Devil.
I mean come on, 6th Air Division, 66th Airforce unit is a little bit on the nose.
>>
>>584905184
I'm not 'being hard' on anyone, I was just asking.

>>584905315
Like the other guy said, you can miss it if you're not paying attention to the radio chatter. They primarily mention it around the start of RI 1.

>>584905773
It's more to establish their political neutrality and excuse themselves so they can leave peacefully when their contract is over, which they mention im the radio chatter is at sundown on the day of RI 2.
>>
>>584898510
they're lonely
