>App ID: 5361210
>Has multiplayer
>Account has no other games associated with it
Somehow all that from a no name. Makes me think some of these cloners are big companys using aliases.

And now stats of both for comparative purposes
Family Time (anon):
>#45 in wishlists for unreleased games
>42,954 followers
Family Time (thief):
>unranked wishlists
>193 followrs

Huh seems anon showing it off was the wiser choice in this case. Now I'm going to say something which all the lurker youtubers will likely start espousing in their upcoming videos since so many seem to frequently start talking the subjects I talked about weeks prior as if they are starved for content to make and rob me of what I originally talk about. *ahem* Anon won. It doesn't matter that he revealed it that early in development, he apparently got so many wishlists that his game is GMI even if cloners show up. Cloners will not be able to dethrone him. They can ride his coattails which is something I'd personally be pissed about to see happen to my game if they are a stranger, someone close to me coming in and cloning to get some gains for himself is a-okay. An alliance to make money, rather than competition. Back on track, anon wonned. The clones can only ride his coattails, but steal the thunder of success? Absurdly unlikely, his game simply got too popular. One of those situations where showing off your game early works in your favor. I'll stay hidden though, safer that way.

I'm outspoken about being anti-AI so that I don't be scrutinized and don't have to disclose
it's a bonus that AIphobes play my game and compliment my art (mostly AI hehe), there's something thrilling about it
I have a bud who I pay a little to say he's the 'artist' and we've got a nice system down where we can generate sketches from the assets to give a trail of how it was made

That game is a giant outlier, it showed up on Steam 3 months ago and got a quarter of a million wishlists. Even the second game which showed up 2 months later got more wishlists than most AGDG games release with.
>>
>>584889493
It's weird how just 15 years ago a big company sued a cloner and they settled out of court...by which the cloner gave away full rights of the clone to the clonee. I wonder what would happen to the cloning scene if this happened again. Though it's weird how that happened but other cloners simply don't get sued at all or they do yet no similar punishment occurs.

Kind of, but less resource autism and more funky weapons. Something with a lot more "normie" gamer appeal. Probably won't do it unless I get really stuck making the resources gathering progression fun.

So supposedly it's not that easy to do 'good' terrain deformation nowadays, there's an old lib from '22 that hasn't been updated since and so... yeah.
Anyways, it's not quite there yet, I think everything occurs too fast, we need to delay the impact, the explosion, then the shockwave, then the smoke (disabled it here otherwise we can't see shit), I guess?
And buildings need to fly off in bits as well, it's going to take a few attempts, pretty exciting to work on it tho. I love destruction in games, should be more common.

It was comfy knowing at some point that you only had to make a good game, and players will market it for you through word of mouth because there were only like 10 games released a day on Steam (in 2016).
Now that's no longer viable and you either have to spend money on marketing yourself or do online jestering, which is less comfy for the usual autists inhabiting these places, but probably better for social oriented people who like putting their faces in youtube videos and making tiktok shorts and stuff like that.
Times are not better or worse objectively but only subjectively depending on what you're innately comfortable with doing.

Turned off hitstun for enemies when you're not upgraded. It kind of makes combat a bit boring when they're just punching bags. Though the combat is still simple either way.

So why does Spurdo dev keep jumping between projects? I'm curious as to why he just doesn't finish any one of the games he makes nowadays. After Spurdo it's like he just became incapable of finishing a game. Almost as of something changed internally, an expectation perhaps? I get the feeling I have a similar issue. The only metroidvania I've ever really enjoyed was valdis story, because the combat in it was 10/10.
I think indicators are fine, just like yellow paint: the point is that you don't want it to be an indicator, you don't wan't it to be yellow paint, you want it to make sense in-universe.
Portal 2's 'yellow paint' was seen as the summit of level design for years because it's not yellow paint, it's smarter than this.
I think for a game that's very high energy like yours, you'll probably want a mix of telegraphed attack patterns and sounds, sounds are EXTREMELY important for these things tbqh, way more than visuals are.

>>584905112
Fear of failure, probably, and tied to what you just said; 'what if my new game doesn't meet the expectations of the first one' etc etc.
A lot of devs are foreveralone autists and they're very low self confidence, that makes for a very tricky road to success, idk.

It should inspire hopium yet I can't bring myself to reducing my games quality like that. Though in the former case my art sucked switching out to a style like that would've made development faster and easier to handle. In the latter I just can't do it, the style just looks cheap despite the success. I want my game to be remembered for decades after release, not forgotten the moment the dopamine runs out and all you're left with is ugly graphics and poorly put together gameplay that worked well enough for the dopamine.

The irrational hatred for web tech in this thread is retarded. You should be praying for their success. If someone makes an open source library with notes on how they did it to give hyper optimized tech that runs in browser, that's good for everyone because other engine devs can copy their homework and make it even more performant in native outside of browser. Example being three.js developing meshlets, an open version of nanite that runs in browser flawlessly. Not even a month later the Godot webGPU fork guy had it in his fork running even better. We should all be giving our spirit energy to the guy trying to build lightweight raytracing in top of meshlets. If he succeeds other engines can copy it and we can finally escape this Unreal monopoly for every Triple A game.

AI really did kill the zukowskicunt meta. You can no longer just make a gimmickslop small scoped game, because a hindu with claude can just clone your game in a day now and steal all your money. You HAVE to make bigger scale and scoped game now. Zukjeet lost epically.

You should instead slopsnipe yourself. Set up claude agents sniffing xitter 24/7 for gamedev tags etc and for any post that gains traction make the agent autonomously learn as much as it can about the game being posted by analyzing all poster's socials and make a clone while you sleep then you playtest and ship.

>>
>>584910965
You don't get it. The point isn't in whether you use AI yourself in your project or don't. The point is that you literally cannot talk about a small-scope game now unless you are literally ready to release it the next day the post goes live. And that's what zukowskicunt meta was. He went on a lot about drumming up hype for your game by posting about it a lot (in addition among many other things) and was heavily in on making gimmick sloppa. But claude just killed all that.

Over 100 games release on Steam alone EACH DAY.
About 700 games in the week around your release.
AAA release? Successful release AAA or indie, in your genre? BOOM you are done.
Also, not only are you competing with other new releases, but the entire backlog of games on every system a player owns. :)

Take all the "indie success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of devs in that time who have tried (again, 100 games a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "making it."

Steam cut, higher self-employment taxes, no benefits, no retirement, AND to top it all off: Your sales diminish over time, so even if you hit this "mediocrity lottery" you'll have to do it all over again in a couple years.

Well there we go, no more stuttering, even better destruction, bravo, that was so much work.

>>584910483
Uh, which one is that?
Theatre of Steel: I'm 'stuck' doing a lot of balancing and trying to get a right in between for 'player can have fun piloting his mech' while also giving importance to his units and him controlling them and telling them what to do, it's just a lot of edge case bullshit and me having to sit down and play it for a while and think of ways to fix it, not very easy.
SCAV: I'm merging a lot of systems together, which takes time, we also ran into a couple of godot 4.8 issues (but nothing crazy), I'm adding fog as well for specific mission types to force reduced visibility. Also the big boy/giant mob needs to be worked on, he's in the fridge, I need to sit down and think about how to add him in correctly; I want a fun dynamic door breaking system where the enemies have to actually hit the doors to break through and make them fly off, and I want the player's plasma cutter to be able to cut through them etc. Lots of work.

This one: It's by far the most ambitious one because I have many different ways I can and want to take it, I really just wanted it to be a tech demo and a testbed to see if the idea could work: I think it can, it feels fun to fly already and I barely spent time fixing all the systems yet, so I think I'm onto something fun. I'll see.
I have so, so, so many design systems to think about, I already reworked the magic system 4 times, so, yeah.
TBD

So I don't know if you're thinking of something else.

The true end of all game dev will be when spawn.co and Castellano's three.js renderer are completed and converged next year. Mark my words. An engine where multiple people can just create whatever they want in three.js, but the renderer that outperforms Unreal's nanite and raytracing in a fucking mobile browser?

It's all cooked.

Nah, the devs of this tool fell for the SaaS meme. You can vibe code a replacement for the tool. I wouldn't even need to if they just made running basic iterations free by running on my local PC. charging me to press "play once really slow" was too much. So fuck em.

Reasons I'm not stressed about AI game devs/AI making game development have no entry barrier is because video editing tools have been free and powerful for years now and still 99% of people don't edit their own videos and I managed to carve out a financially viable niche with it, so I can do the same with gaming for sure

Except Runescape was a browser game and made billions before Java discontinued. The big problem wasn't the browser. It's games started getting so big it was no longer optimal to just have users download the game every time they want to play it. Except now OPFS exists and you can download browser game assets locally. It's as simple as the dev creating a "Like the game? Download it!" Button and using basic versioning library to keep the files updated in chunks.

I was thinking about that. Wasn't it common practice in like the 80s and 90s that when games were more abstract and simplistic people would constantly rip off and pirate each other. Like it would be a paid for simple 2d ball game bouncing around the screen and someone would just remake it and distribute the code for free.

Like Tim schafer admitted when he got intereviewed for a job at lucas arts he admitted he played a pirated version of one of their games. But "pirated" meant someone stole the mechanics and made a simpler version.

My biggest gripe are the "haves" who somehow just landed cushy $150k, $300k, or even $450k salary jobs right out of college and then they go
>Woe is me!
>I am but a meager serf in this cyberpunk dystopia.
>Hardship day in, day out.
>But today, month 1 into my first job I shall break free of my decade long prison of a cage and....
>Make a video game for the next 5 years that will earn me $1m so I can be free forever!
Get back in the cage you melodramatic attention seeking losers. 4 years at $300k and you already made more than $1m gross. The dream jobs they sold you in elementary school are not gonna happen. You will not be the famous and rich (only two of these actually get both)

>king
>doctor (that doesn't do any work and somehow just heals people)
Here is your cuckible. Sit in it do your fucking work. Just like they used picture books to lure you in, so they did with "careers" (jobs).

But the audacity of these types to lament their jobs and then in the same sentence say the job is great? Fuck out of here. Probably a liar too.

Browser games aren't a technical problem. It's a tradeoff between player accessibility and the developer's ability to monetize. Most devs figure that Steam is the sweet spot where it's still highly accessible (95%+ of PC gamers are three clicks and a 30 second download away from paying money for your game and having it downloaded and booted). Meanwhile, as a teenager, I had spent over a hundred hours fishing lobsters at f2p Karamja before I finally bit the bullet and mailed in a money order in order to pay for membership.

This is probably much better, though we're not perfect yet, well I can't exactly give this project all the attention it deserves (that I want to give it) because it'll take a lot longer to be made in the way I want it to be made than the others, so I need to focus on the others first.

Kind of hard to identify because steam keeps that stuff hidden and there are third party tools that try to track that stuff. e.g. Steam spy. How's the earning measured? I'm assuming it counts DLCs?
That's the only reason I'd expect 4X to earn so much more, because those usually have dozens of DLCs that are nearly full price, and their communities love their games so much they don't care (stellaris, total war, civ, etc)

I'm... confused as to how there's 4-5x more RTS games being made than souls-like, but I guess tags are pretty much meaningless nowadays.

Yep. Try finding an actual ("classic") RTS on Steam. Maybe 4/year are released. The rest is somewhat strategical games that are at least not turn-based... which covers a rather larger area.

So... they're not that 'well-written' huh?

Or maybe there's a study to be made about the failed ones: I'm assuming the ones that failed are in fact well written, but the genre of the game is aimed at people that really do not give a fuck about lore and stories me

Cringiest nerdiest answer, theres a logic and "feel" to game design. You can't tell an AI to make an RPG without if fucking up the basic combat economy. You can't ask an AI to make a fighting game and expect it to perfectly balance the game and fix the timings of each hit.

Think about your favourite game that you're autistic about. Try to recreate it, notice that what you make isn't EXACTLY what that original game felt like. You fucked up an animation so it looks weird. The character feels clunky when he moves. Thats the shit that a lazy AI dev won't implement unless he knows specifically what to ask for. You do, you lazy fuck.

But that's not how people tag those games on steam, and those studies are based on steam's stats, baka.
There's not a single bullet hell/heaven game in the top rated of the musou categories, though there's a couple of (completely unknown) ones, but not highly rated and definitely not selling well ones.

What's more likely is a CP2027 scenario. People will build up networks of "trusted" computers, with access to the outside net blocked. Of course, a bad actor getting onto your community network will destroy everyone on it, so these groups will be highly protective, both of access to the network (think torrent track networks) and with their own security.

I used to think this was a fantasy scenario, but with recent AI development I think it's plausible.

I respected the voice of the people and did as they asked, that is all I did, it did everything else all on its own.
I'm telling it to fix a couple things still and then I'll just release it and people can do with it as they want.
I'll ask him what he thinks of imagemagick and whether it'd fit in the workflow, but considering this is going to be open source, I don't know if I should just add anything like that in there, but maybe just an option to easily connect to it and work with it would be good.

This is what's being added:
1. More animations from the same model (biggest gap). There are only Idle and Walk, both generated by code. Mixamo FBX animations or free CMU motion-capture clips, mapped onto the auto-rig, would add run, attack, spell-cast, hit and death. One model becomes a full character set. Medium effort.

2. A better auto-rig. It places joints from fixed body proportions, and its distance-based weights make the robe bend like rubber. Two concrete fixes:
- Place joints with DWPose, a pose detector already installed in ComfyUI, run on the concept image.
- Compute Blender's proper weights on a cleaned-up watertight copy of the mesh, then copy them back to the real model.

Give 99% of people a "make game machine" and they'll only be able generate slop that they themselves will grow bored of after a few weeks.
People genuinely thought game dev was "finished" because AI could "combine" Skyrim with Minecraft. That's their extend of creativity, combining two popular games.

Hopefully yeah. I mean unless steam is so shitty they lock everything down, gaming should just get way more fragmented with hyper specific subgenres and less winner-take-all AAAA nonsense. Like how TV went from being a common cultural touchstone to a bunch of successful-but-niche shows your coworkers haven’t heard of. And that happened for the same reason as this. Everything got cheaper to make and distribute.

I thought someone would bring that up. I can’t tell how true it is though. And steam seems to be doing some things like the calendar that are attempting to change it. I can see a lot of paths towards things becoming less concentrated.
With TV a big part of it was there being multiple streaming platforms with meaningful market share. Steam being a de facto monopoly does hurt things a lot. They could use a serious competitor. Maybe one of the ai gaming platforms will succeed enough for that. Or roblox will decide to age with their audience and become a traditional game distribution platform.

Steam doing ANY amount of enforcement is the absolute bare minimum to cover their asses as the technology settles.
They purposely have it set up so that they can do the least bit of 'someone said this is AI', then when you say it's not, they say 'OK'.

And detection will always be an arms race, and very heavily stacked against the detector. Already it's easy enough to set up instructions that you'd like to put all code and assets through a de-AI pass, and it would be a whole hour/afternoon of work to get that near flawless.

Steam is doing the barest effort that lets them say "See? We're trying, we're on your side". More games is good for them, they have no moral stake in the situation.

The fact that it pumps out a more complex and convoluted model is not good; it's fine if it's good enough that you can just put it in (but it's not that good yet), but because it's just more complex and not as good as it should, it's left in a weird spot where I can't just fix it myself (because it's not low poly like what claude does), without wasting hours on it at least, pic rel for example:
Claude pumped out a bunch of haircuts for my girls, good, but a lot of them have some fucked up geometry; but nothing I can't just open blender for and fix in a few minutes.

Can I easily do this if the model has 25k fucking polygons..?
If I was a real 3D artist, maybe, but I just dabble so it's just not 'good enough' yet, when tripo does real/better low poly I'll be much more interested in it (but by then, is claude not going to be good enough at it?)

There's two ways around it: I keep it just for atmosphere and ambiance, this is an easy win, everyone loves fog for anything horror, it's always cool.
Or I try to push it further than what's shown here and make it ACTUALLY impairing, like it was on some GTFO maps... which I loved, but I'm sure some people might've hated it?
I'm a bit iffy on this, I was thinking of either adding 'spore spewer' type organs that just try to make it harder to see shit (either in a room or throughout the ship, using ventilation systems), or mobs directly which could spew either normal or toxic gas.

Maybe I’m just better at being more wasteful lol. I have it working on the SaaS I own at the same time so I guess that does it a lot of the time. Generally I have 3-5 instances going on 2-4 codebases at any given time when I’m working. Then when my weekly is out I do 3d sculpting, art etc.

So, why are you so mad about it?
Let's assume it's true; so... what?
What makes you seethe so much?
Why haven't you filtered me yet?
I think you will be seething no matter what, because this is all that you amount to, and you're projecting your lack of creativity onto others and you realize that deep inside, the clanker can and will replace you.

I'm okay though.

>>584941298
Yeah I'm thinking instead of just wasting my codex away (since it's so retarded so I can't even trust it to do much of what I need at this point save for texture work, it did some good work on that earlier today), I'll just keep plugging claude into codex so that anything I ask codex has to pass through claude too, that's how I got okay looking fog (since astra on her own just broke the build zzzzz).

I'm on a stage where I need to decide the art part. I was going to rely on buying assets, but the current situation with AI makes every good asset on sites like itch have dozens of fully AI-generated games (see comments on: https://itch.io/queue/c/6777243/game-assets?game_id=1591077). Worse than being another brick on the wall is having people assume I also use AI because of the asset usage. Thinking of getting my hands dirty and making my own tilesets and characters, which requires me to adapt the theme of the game to something I could tackle.

You do realize this would mean indies would lose their one advantage over corpas right?
The one weakness AAA has over indie is that it takes years to be made and that means it can't easily shift focus or change things mid-way through, AI will allow them to do just that.
What do you think would even happen if AI was only allowed for big corpa and not indies, how can you think this'll help you?

It is the best possible outcome. There's no reality where AI gets banned for corporations but keeping it out of most hands is the best alternative.

Yeah it's going to be a challenge to get this right, I already added a bunch of different accessibility features (including auto aim), and now it's just 'too easy' to shoot at people (but I can probably fiddle with the settings, or give different levels of strength for it).
I also added a slo-mo to help with this, and then we also have head hunting bullets and bullets that automatically ricochet to other enemies in range, and then one that create an arc of electricity (which basically does the same thing but looks different).

This thing is going to be a nightmare to design overall, which makes it the most fun one.
I was also seriously considering switching the perspective of the game and just making it a grounded FPS and the broom would be optional or to use to travel between places, but that kind of kills the whole point so I'd rather not do that, but also a 'what if ww2 but you're a wizard' from an infantry FPS perspective would be fucking cool (and it'd be easier to design, ofc)

I also added different options for the aiming and decoupling of the camera, we got a flying assistant of sorts (if you've played war thunder before), that slightly nudges your broom towards where you're aiming to make it less disorienting and more natural, and also a toggleable broom lock where the aim can either stay fixed on a point in the world, no matter the attitude you give your broom, or do the opposite where the aim is going to be locked relative to your broom (so if you look 30° to the right of the broom and start looping, you'll always be looking at that 30° to the right.)

It's going to be rough to get it right lol

Well you could also have a soft-stagger system, where the more hits to get in, the less staggered they get -> get redder and redder -> attack through the stagger after X hits, so the player has to learn how many hits he can land on a per enemy type basis before he needs to back off and get back in later or something.

>Tho I shouldn't be giving you ideas
Suggestions and ideas always help me formulate my own ideas.
I like your idea. Gonna try something with the shield and it coming back after some hits.
For a platformer, having enemies die in one hit is preferred. Since I want the player to be going around collecting stuff. I want the enemies to have some meat on their bones.

Thanks too.

I have many different posting styles. Heh even on live image boards people could never pick me out. Go ahead guess my game. You won't get it right and I post it all the time.

Having to memorize the spells would be cool. Could have the book block the spell circle in the center. Having the hand swipe through the pages. The book could swap in and out quickly. Having both out feels easy but I guess the book is blocking most of the screen.

>lacking in substance of their games
We are in the amateur dev general. A lot of the games here lack that pro level juice. They're on it though.
>>
>>584960724
Anon, I'm literally using unity chan for the model, don't you think this is irrelevant at this stage?
Also it's mainly fucked up because he placed the drawing circle way too close to the character but that's probably my bad, he moved it back when I told him I wanted the circle to the side of the broom so he probably just used the middle of the broom's z axis or something, not a problem though, I'll fix it tomorrow.

>>584960865
Sounds like a smart guy with good references, but I'm not him no.
Oh also that Skyrim VR mod had that system too now that I think about it.

>>584960868
Thanks.

>>584961462
Yeah I'm fiddling with this, I thought it'd be cool if the book just hovered close by and you could use your fingers to flip the pages directly while it's on the left side, but maybe I can just do an in between where the book comes back to the center of the screen and closer when you move your hand to the left and outside the circle, or maybe just a click on the book to bring it up or out. I want memorizing to be good and the faster way, but I could also allow people to click on the symbols directly in the grimoire to draw them, that would work too but it trivializes the system a bit, idk.
>>
If this keeps up I might have to contact a legendary company
>>
>>584962138
Maybe clicking it does weaker spells. Having the book out could drain confidence that could lead to less magic gauge, damage, or something.
>>
>>584954730
Happy to see I inspired somebody. However, You're doing it wrong. It shouldn't take a lot of coding. Most you're doing is running data you've already acquired through different models.

You use OSINT info like usernames, Reddit posts, twitter, Discord JSON is fucking golden. If you don't know who you're trying to unmask, you're running wild shotgun guesses at best.

And then you use that as a key with modern stylometry like CISR and Multi-LUAR to get a best case triage.

Bonus points if you use CLIP to describe images so basic cropping can't fuck the hashing.

There is no coding. I basically ask the agent to download the threads and look for patterns on them. Worked great for a 3 threads prototype, but when I tried to create a better version with more threads my quota ended.

Yeah the game threads are just the 4chan API with some changes to insert trolls and schizos so there's probably a few eerily similar posts

If I send all of his posts to the director... there would be a raid on the thread, and all the AI fags will be gunned down!

Just me orbiting my factory.

Made a big positive change, where I require refiners to have fuel. Just that small changed helped a lot to require players to have a constant stream of fuel, rather then just waiting to collect enough for the next unlock. It may be obvious, but it'd a big shift in my design I need to carry forward.

This is essentially the "end state" for this planet. My next tasks are going to be making other planets more unique, and have their own problems to solve. Not sure exactly what they will be, but that's a problem for tomorrow.

If Steam Fests and Next Fest are losing value rapidly, then what is the point of participating with unreleased games? The risk of cloners finding your unreleased game vs the value gained from the Fests. At the very least there may still be some level of value overriding the risk, provided you only participate when the games release is in 4 months or less.
>>
It’s really hard to tell where “the gameplay sucks because the mechanics are bad” ends and “the gameplay sucks because it’s ugly and missing animations/indicators/sfx” begins. I might have to finish all the art and fx before I finalize or even work more on the combat system.

It's about narrative. If your game doesn't suck it can't be cloned as easily, and you have a brand and followers.

A certain expectation that influences my development.

Spurdodev here. I was incapable of making a game before spurdo too, considering I started gamedev in 2017 and didn't release spurdo till 2023.

Few reasons, depending on the game. Sometimes it's just a "I'm wasting my time with this, it's not not an interesting game", sometimes its "This project is way too big, and I can't scope it down because of it's genre, so I'll abandon it and work on something smaller" or simply "Oh I have a great idea for a different game, I'll just try it out as a little side project..." and then eventually abandon the main game for the side project, then abandon the side project later too.

BUT since I exited next fest for Warp Bound and the side scrolling game, I decide to get back to work on the snow game which was like, 90% done anyway. It's only an hour long game but atleast I can put out something. Then gotta work on warp bound for the auto battler fest demo mid nov.

Either go for 360 and embrace the suck of using spined rigs or make it lock to 45 and 90 like Contra.

Just letting you retards know that it's not just ai "devs" thinking they're running the show, encouraging pedo shit, trooning out, threatening to steal your work, threatening to steal your work and ideas if it's handcoded

Not to mention you are confined in what is allowed within payment processors rules, not just steam.

wtf are you trying to get across? I'm retard so you gotta really spell it out and not vaguepost

Hi, I'm an indie dev that's grown a bit concerned about the wave of AI clones that we've seen for games like Needle In A Haystack. And Alliance Arts cancelling their planned demo for Drunken Goddess Reflux. I suspect it'll only get worse as AI improves, so I'm looking into registering copyrights and trademarks, both of which I've never done despite shipping several games on Steam. It's my understanding that it may cost about $765 (filing it myself in the US) to register copyright and trademark in 2 classes, so I wanted to ask if anyone has any insight into how beneficial registering is. I'm worried that as AI continues to improve, bad actors will eventually use AI decompilation to make more sophisticated clones of even complex premium games.

6 years!? That's quite some time.
>reasons
No sunk cost? Impressive.
>snow game
Seems like good timing what with Christmas and Winter around the corner.

I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking some questions.
1. How did you get into gamedev?
2. Did you have any art/music/programming background prior to starting in 2017?
3. I recall you saying you went neet mode in the past, you still one and if so how do you sustain yourself?
4. How many gamedev hours do you average weekly, estimate is fine?
>>

Hi, I'm a trademark lawyer. Your concern is misplaced. In 6 months the internet will no longer be functional. Get a real job.
>>
>>584970701
The "original" needle in a haystack game or the trve original that posted a youtube vid alongside a github page showing development going back to 2025 albeit that may not count as proof since it could easily be a game that got pivoted last second. Then again kaybe there was one in the works years ago and it got shelved.
>>
>>584972267
More time means higher hardware prices. I haven't looked at overall market health and am kinda worried that it's cooked. More games lowers demand for the games. Inversely, ai is increasing the price for the hardware. This isn't customer driven since the customers buying the GPUs are the ai companies selling the ai coding.

You could technically make 20 games in the time it take a hand coded to make 1. By the end of it you'll see who is more satisfied.

If your goal is to sell, this would be a doomsday scenerio. The market is both flooding, crunching, and there is extreme fear.
For those that don't care about crunch?
Itch is good too.
>>
>>584972713
Are you a trademark or copyright lawyer?
You got them golden handcuffs or not?
