Thanks to this game, I was able to let go of the FOMO that ZZZ and Wuwa held over me. That's $1086 using only the weekly pack(thus would take over 3 years) If you buy cubes, that will cost $18,100 on average. This is per amiino. Dazzling is cheaper, since the sparkling cube can roll dazzling. It only ends up costing $3620 on average without waiting for the weekly pack.

This game like many other are simply p2w at their core. Yes, "pay for convenience" is still p2w and people just say that to cope because they don't want their favorite game being labeled as such. If you can do content faster/more easily, get more resources, more inventory space etc. by swiping then you have an advantage over someone who doesn't spend, period. So then it's a matter of what your threshold is for tolerating this kind of monetization and whether or not the gameplay experience is good enough to justify it. For me I don't really think the monetization is that egregious at all and calling the tiered gifts thing a "scandal" is laughable, but I would agree that it could be bad optics. If anything I think the Fulmintis soul being tied to the bp sucks a lot more but if they do actually make it available later down the line then it's kinda whatever for me. The overall experience has also been great so far and I've yet to encounter anything that's ruined it that can only be solved by swiping. How they handle PvP is a big question mark, my guess is that there will be equalized stats similar to Eggkov but who knows.
