Just finished up the campaignAn excellent ride and a good step up from 7. All around fantastic presentation from visuals to sound to gameplay, very well done. Good wingmen too and Kate is very cute and ready to be bred.Biggest complaints are the war plot was honestly godawful for the most part with insane ass pulls left and right and massive border changes and troop deployments across the continent with no effort, I thought Ace Combat 7 did a better job in this department overall. The cutscenes also felt very sloppy as well with plenty of retarded 'F to salute' moments. Theres also lots of just bizarre shit like the entire subplot with the schizo underground squadron that kept getting long cutscenes but didn't really amount to anything except them helping out in the end. Also wish the game had ended at mission 28 or 29, 30 felt pretty weak after what we had already done.Really makes me wish you could transplant the Project Wingman team into Project Aces, those guys have really mastered the art of keeping a story as whacky(perhaps even whackier) as Ace Combat but still having a coherent war story. Average Combat: Rolling Thunder was the best game in the franchise. Sure the USAF AI was dogshit, but at least you could actually get into dogfights and SAMs couldn't kill you from across the map. It's also the only game to model STDMs correctly.
