If she played second fiddle, the Arisen would’ve been much better prepared to take on the Dragon, but it might’ve felt a bit too similar to DD1 excluding the Duke essentially wasting the Arisen’s time so nobody would find out the truth of his encounter with the Dragon.

Do remember that you can do a melee finisher to paralyzed enemies by holding strong attack when you’re close to them, or doing a jumping strong attack.The counter move is solid damage even if you’re not using it strictly to counter, and can deal with big ghoul packs handily when you spam it thanks to the AoE when it’s upgraded using the DLC weapons. If you can keep clone/seching blades up while attacking and charging your Foreboding bolt, it can do very solid damage. Mystic Speargonne/Balliste is nice for staggering enemies you can’t hit, and it’s a nice finishing move for screenshots too. It’s a very busy vocation all around, but it has a solid answer to all situations if you’re diligent.

I finished the original game on hard difficulty on a fresh save, I'm starting the unmoored world and then it's dark arisen time. The only thing I left out was the evil eye, even with the best pre dragon stuff I could get it was too long. Overall I enjoyed it way more than my first playthrough.

Some people opt to clear out the Lost Rites dungeons before going into Norgan. Doing this is a bit difficult since some of the Lost Rites dungeons have enemies that are on par with Norgan, and it makes for a series of very challenging and grueling dungeon crawl if you do. But I opted for this route and it was some of the most fun I’d had in any of the Dragon’s Dogma series. It’ll also prep you a tiny bit for Norgan too, and you’ll have some unique skins to use when you unlock transmog/layered armor and weapons.
