Just finished watching Edgerunners 2, I liked the characters and all the location cameos, but Them using the fucking engram relic thing again was a gigantic mistake in my opinion, it made the game lesser and it's no different here. Of course, it was the simplest way to bring all these random characters together. S1 was better by virtue of being a simple story of cyberfuckery, S2 just complicated things for no good reason. Still, it had good moments. Episode one is the best one by far.

I dunno I just....don't like SMGs. They're such fucking peashooters. I tried a smart SMG build and while I love smart guns, I hate having to mag dump every enemy. A lot of ARs have the problem too, to be fair, but SMGs are really bad.

Will someone ever make a....2020s Cyberpunk IP? By that I mean, a cyberpunk with an updated conception of technological progress and geopolitics. So, instead of Japan suddenly being a superpower (ironic it fell off immediately after this became a cyberpunk trope), it's China. The US probably still falls apart. People are not getting their perfectly functioning limbs hacked off for robotic replacements because the idea robot arms would ever be as flexible and adaptable as fleshy ones while being as strong as the ones you find on an assembly line is nonsense born of cyberpunk authors not understanding engineering or material science. Which is to say, a completely flesh chimpanzee, which has several times a human's muscle mass, could tear the shit out of any realistically possible humanoid robot; cyberpunk tends to underestimate biology. But mind control impants? People genetically modified to be braindead slaves? People wearing powered exoskeletons? Absolutely. And AIs fucking everywhere, hell, an AI apocalypse or AI overlord dystopia would be a very plausible setup. And while corporate power is still vast, the state doesn't just....disappear into the background the way the 1980s conceptualized it. State power would be an integral part of propping up and maintaining the corporate plutocracy, actually. You wouldn't have corps like Militech or Arasaka literally having wars with each other using private armies, they'd just capture national governments and still use state militaries for that. There should also be a heavy level of Brave New World or 1984 style mass propagandization, where the masses are utterly immersed in a social media-induced delusion about reality that causes them to mindlessly serve corporate interests. Rebels against the system shouldn't just be set apart by being will to actually take action, they should genuinely feel like complete aberrants - even normies would shun and attack them because they're all brainwashed against their own well being.

So I am trying to figure my way out around the balance of this game. I understand not every scenario is the same, but there are simular issues here and there.On the opening mission (the rescue), if you sneak in, you down 5~ guys and a boss, excluding the first tutorrial guy you can throw into the freezer. Now if you go guns blazing, more units rush up and arrive. I count at least another 4 guys. This is all good, I get that, sometimes sneaking dosen't pay off, money/item wise. But anyway, the first thing that annoyes me is that units that don't draw their weapons, can't be looted of their weapons... ok,what ever. My main issue is that weapons that do drop, also have 50/50 state to possibly become broken. However, it feels more like a 80-90% chance that weapons break. As per the screenshot just based on the first encounter, with out the mod, I had 1 weapon drop... I have played further than this and this also feels like it happens all of the time where the chances are higher for weapons to be broken. As per screenshot, 9 weapons with mod vs 1 without... both ways feel unbalanced. I know, "you'll be rich anyway" "this is just the start, you'll get more than enough loot later" Fuck later, I want my shit now. Anyone have a mod that fixes the chances a bit better as 100% unbroken also feels a bit too op, but the other way is just bullshit.

Now i wonder which ending is canon. season 2 is in 2078, no mention of saburo and yorinobu arent mentioned, but aspects their mikoshi research still exists. Was Capricorn the collection of little souls Alt was after? Johnny seems to have been a beta test, a collection of different people's memories/knowledge. If Capricorn was Alt's target, than any ending involving V raiding Arasaka didnt happen. Lilith in Capricorn doesn't happen. Hellman is mentioned going to Kang Tao and vanishing. it leaves Toss the Pills and Tower Ending. Those two endings prevent anyone from learning if its possible to extract and reinstall a mind in a body.
