My first reaction until the ultimate started being unleashed was that it remained really readable actually. The ultimate cover the whole screen though but ZZZ is one of the few games that can afford this because of how incredibly well animated it is. No matter what's on screen it feels like the devs are always showcasing the actual characters because of how they play with the camera. I'm rather fond of the vertical shot that Remielle has.

It doesn't excel anywhere, it's not terrible at anything (other than exploration, the exploration really is terrible) but it's not great at anything either.
