This is an encounter design issue, not a rtwp issue.With TB games, developers know it can take more irl time if you don't do it right, so they have encounter design where every enemy is hand placed and serves a purpose. bg3 goblins are a perfect example. There are multiple drums in every fight, and one goblin runs to each drum. You can let them ring the alarm, or stop them. Some goblins are always elevated (doesn't even exist in owlcat games) to take advantage of elevation rules, and they have fire arrows added to their inventory. Even in a mass of enemies goblin encounter where their quality is their quantity, you still have jobs and roles and meaningful placement. Because if you don't, TB is an irl time slog.RTWP and TB are both fine, both can be good. It's entirely encounter design that makes a game's combat good or bad, and it just happens to be that rtwp games made by owlcat have the "flood the screen so the player can attack-move" design philosophy, which makes people say rtwp is bad.

I'm about to finish vanilla Rogue Trader for the first time. Soldier Arch Militant Dogmatic, romanced Cassia and bitch fish is mid as fuck. Me and Argenta (with Cassia buffs) kind of ran over everything in act 4 which was a bit of a letdown. I want to do another run with all the DLC. Abelard, Pasqal and Heinrix were cool but by the time they got a turn the fight was over. I was doubting between some kind of officer Iconoclast and Psycher Bladedancer Heretic. But then I have to think about parties and romances and I'm not sure if Heretic Kibbellah meaning I have 2 blade dancers makes sense.
