Double, triple, quadruple checked. For the few people who will ever try playing Sonic Chronicles; When Tails asks you to leave the colony and go fight the echidna,s you have to do it immediately if you want that last interaction with Amy. The game will automatically skip itt if you choose to continue exploring the alien worlds. You have to either finish those missions before the story reaches the final chapter or just ignore them. Amy basically drops out of the story.

If you do all the story missions first and then do the side missions you forfeit the Amy interaction. Unless I'm forgetting something, there is no actual conversation with Amy beyond this point. Just her reacting to big events with the ensemble. Shade, Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic are the focus of the last chapter. To be fair to the Japanese... the whole "cartoon character invades some human's life and teaches them wisdom" thing is so common in Japan that Sonic probably doesn't stick out. I don't think he's being honest about not using AI, because if he admitted that his port was AI assisted, then people would use it to delegitimize it and put it on the same level as the rushed one. It's understandable, but I wish there was more transparency.
