No emotion system from KOF98 or even stuns or infinites like Daimon's earthquake because it's imbalanced. Meanwhile Chinese are still having huge tournaments for KOF98 anyway, they just ban the glitch, but people still have fun with it casually. No zero input buffer difficult links or no-slowdown Roman cancels like GGXX because it gatekeeps beginners. Meanwhile, GGXX is still played in Japan and even America now that it has rollback netcode. Random GGXXACPR tournament has more entrants than something like Mega Knockdown, Merfight, Drag Her, or pretty much any random western indie fighting game. Even Skullgirls, a mainstage game, lost to DNF Duel, a kusoge side tournament, at Evo 2022 in terms of entrants lol. It's not just the sex, they want to make fighting games bland in general in terms of both character designs and mechanics.
