>>586062181If your cooking is total ass you get a few levels for free by looking at the pot of solder in the foundry, but you seem to be past that point. Honestly I found that once you had an automatic water station you could make greyeb wraps with eyes and lettuce at the cooking table and those were so easy and plentiful that nothing else mattered. The special effects for some of the weirder soups are nice but not worth the hassle of carrying around containers and shit.

Played probably stolen for 8 hours after doing 17h in the demo in september.I've come to resent gunsmithing.water merchant was tedious but it was honest work.gunsmithing you just have to accept random events. I took agoraphobic because I had no idea I'd have to supplement my smithing with my own scavenging, but this debuff kills any joy I could have. I'm stuck crafting tier 0 60 credits guns.At least interacting with the illegal side of the game is way more fun.Tomorrow it's queen domaining time.

It's kind of annoying that this game would have been known as the all time greats if the dev had just put an ending at the point where he ran out of ideas instead of stretching it out for years. It's everything wrong with idle games.
>>586259727>Nothing fucking changesThat's part of why I've recently fallen in love with Idle Obelisk Miner.Mobile/emulator-only, but this shit's got so many fun moving parts and is regularly getting updated.
>>586261550I got a bit into stargazing and stopped. it's just too slow. Maybe if I played on emu and could leave it open all day, but just checking it a few times a day on my phone, things just took forever.
>>586265067The "start" of Stargazing, like some other mechanics, is more of a "you aren't quite ready for this" system. Like Drone Fuel, Archaeology, and Fishing. The intended progression is to keep pushing Veins and shit for a while, buy up numerous important upgrades in Stargazing, then start actually interacting with it more.I originally unlocked Stargazing around a month ago and can now can rack up around a hundred Super Stars in an 8-hour idle.I won't say it's a well-designed system, but it works in its own way of "figure out what works."And 9 times out of 10, what works is "grind Gems, retard."But at any rate, the game got a bit of a rewards revamp and Obelisk floor clears are way more impactful now, giving you more Gems (substantially more starting at like 29) and supplemental materials (Gifts, regular/Relic chests, bonus effects). And old players can double-dip and claim all the new rewards with no penalty.I'd say give it another look-see, solely cause it is a great progress boost/progress improvement.
>>586261550>Idle Phallos MinerSeems kinda gay.
>>586269735Surprisingly, despite being the main name of the game, the obelisks are a fairly small "content gate" instead of the centerpiece. You stack damage, blow up the Obelisk in a few minutes (sometimes instantly even), unlock some rewards, sometimes a new mechanic, then get back to doing all the other shit (mainly digging up ores and things connected to it in some way).

>>586243264That gives a little too much credit to games where minimizing the chances for variance to fuck you constitutes "skill" i.e. snowballing is inevitable so long as you don't get one-shot so just knowing which chunks of the game to avoid outright.

>>586339901It's a lot easier for your game to be visible if it has a clear mechanical identity that can piggyback off a popular trend. Unique and weird shit still gets made, finding it is just harder.
>>586339901The biggest change is that now when they put an overpriced piece of garbage that copies an already oversaturated trend, they also complain that nobody is paying 40€ for their 50 minutes getting over it rip-off.

Dead cells for 11€ or 22€ with all dlcs. Worth it?
>>586345790Hard to say. The most fun I had with Dead Cells was at a very particular strata of its early access and the game went in a weird direction past that point. The base movement and combat isn't terrible but it really feels like they should've made an actual metroidvania at some point between the second DLC and the most recent Castlevania, because the roguelike elements get in the way of the actual level design.

I am here contemplating if I should start a new Graveyard Keeper save, or just play Stardew Valley. Having two ongoing saves, on similar games that are very time consuming, may be a bit overkill. Like there are books now that give permanent buffs and a bookseller, some new cheap crops, like carrots, new farm types, 2 minor fishing events. Every NPC uses different clothes now on winter too.
Sulfur's fun but for some reason I recall the guns feeling better in early access. No sense of impact whatsoever.
>>586412757How does it compare to Selaco?

The Caestus is fucking hilarious in Queen's Domain.Excellent potential sequence-breaking tool.
what kind of mechanic or feature always gets you interested in a gamei have a weak spot for games that have a sanity/madness meter
Welp that was a solid 7/10. Could have been so much better with a bit of polish but the lack of it really did drag things down. Also the final bits of the plot were confusing, and not in a good way.Why exactly is an adult Carol leading the Corporation? Where/when did she even come from and what's supposed to be the sequence of events here? The generals all act like she's been around for ages but it's not something where all of them are from the future, just somehow her or something? And what the fuck is Umbra supposed to be? I was under the impression she'd be the Corporation Carol but she's like some weird sort of daughter cat homunculus that adult Carol has?For that matter who is Ullr supposed to be? All the other generals have alternate identities but he's just... there? There's ideas here that are interesting and I want to like it, but god you can tell it was written by an ADHD french man who needed an editor badly. Half the time there's mechanics and characters and everything that just don't show up but the game can spend time on that stupid fish captain and the one joke they repeat indefinitely. Like where the fuck did Meng even come from? There was no introduction cutscene for her.
>>586464667Funny, I didn't play the full game, but I had the same impression that this was essentially a melting pot of everything the dev liked, without someone to pass after him and help him focus on the original plan of the game.
>>586465080Yeah by the end of it the game was just a mess. I knew Adult Carol was meant to be the main villain and I was like "oh so she took the rabbit to give it to her kid or something?" but it's Umbra (who again, who the fuck is she? she's some sort of kid but she can control the Nightmare and the game seems to want it to be that she's the one bringing you in and out of it the dimension but she only shows up once?)Like the timeline of events doesn't make sense. It's like the dev just wanted a twist.I feel like it's not even a case of the game being too ambitious anyway. You could rework these elements easily. The dev's just dumb and wanted to recreate Metroid Prime 2, right down to the Ing Emperor's first phase.
>>586465297I didn't push that far, honestly, I found out pretty quickly that while I love FPS, I really dislike third-person shooters, so as far as I know, Onanism is just a game about a girl that dreams of violence and chaos.I'm confused why you bring up Metroid Prime 2, though. And since I really like Metroid Prime 2, I'm going to sharpen my pitchfork and order torch oil in case I need to burn a bitch at the stake.
>>586465468It has a first person mode, I played the entire game that way. It's Metroid Prime 2 because there's an entire level that's just the Sanctuary Fortress, it also has a Dark World you can't stay in for too long unless you're near points of light, and requires you at the end to find six keys in this dark world while fighting dark boss versions of ing-style enemies, and pretty much all of them are copies of Metroid Prime 1 or 2 bosses (chykka, thardus, etc).
>>586464436Viable necromancy/lifesteal
>>586465297Anon you aren't actually supposed to play the game.
>>586465757Oh, that. Yeah but I liked that part. A lot of investigation.

Thinking of moving most of my crafting stuff inside my house and keep the cabin only for kegs and preserve jars.Once I build more rooms I could have a room for the workbench and furnaces, another for fishing stuff (worm bins, fish smokers, etc.), another for cyrstalariums. Or I could do the other way around and have the house choke full of kegs, it would be close to the cellar.
I've been learning french for a year now and I still think I'm not good enough to play a game like onirism.

Back on the Queen's Domain grind.Got to the first major boss. It is.. a lot. So I'm grinding a bit (mainly just stocking up on heals).Caestus may be awesome, but it's not super useful in this boss fight, sadly. And while I do wanna keep leveling my Pandora Blade, the fact is it does terrible damage, so it's getting ignored for now in favor of this beastie.

>>586319416I have no horse in this race, pirate the thing for all that I care, but I'm going to really second this. Exploration feels REALLY rewarding, the design has some weird charm to it. Dunno it's one of those games that actually do feel like an adventure.
Did not finish the last straw of Hollow Knight (I think last two bosses). Do I need it to play Silksong?
>>586536187No?
>>586536187You're not going to understand the very last minute of the true endingThat's it
>>586536187Not at all, the stories are not that related, Hollow Knight gets referenced a couple of times but honestly, unless you paid plenty of attention to the lore you'd be better watching a couple videos. Now, if you didn't finish HK because it was too hard, you are going to get turbofucked in silksong.
Thank God nothing interesting is coming out this month, i'll prob spend all my free time playing Queen's Domain to make sure i don't forget anything
>>586357386Wow, I remember signing the newsletter years ago, seems to have changed somewhat. Surprised it is still in development, a decade now? My fear for this type of game is the DEI/left garbage direction, and seeing how "diverse" the cast is... Well, we will see when it releases.
>>586472754It was fun, but in a masochistic way. The RNG is just way too skewed, and most of the decent shit is hidden behind EXP unlocks. The mystery events are usually a net negative. There is almost no story whatsoever to be ascertained."It's kind of hard" is just about all it has going for it.>>586473190>Yes anon, i personally finish only games i find funI am not very in touch with my sense of self, so it is entirely possible that I hate it. I'll have to ruminate on it for a few weeks to come up with the answer.
>>586536753I watched many videos and speedruns already.>>586536875>because it was too hardWell, it was too hard, but it was more likely my attention got taken away from the game before I finished. Three times. In the last run, I did manage to finish the colosseum. I think I stopped by the circus bullshit boss before attempting Hollow Knight and Radiance. Are you telling me Silksong will have even more reaction time bullshit? Fuck...
>>586539241As someone who beat HK twice I can say that Silksong is much worse for that, yes.

Sell me on Graveyard Keeper.
>>586542080In this game witches are a gender-neutral term. I thought it was made specifically to fit a male protagonist into the narrative
>>586550976Deliberately frustrating Harvest Moon variant. Various NPCs are only available on particular days and the early game is full of wasted time. Shit like being gated on Tuesday by an item at a shop who doesn't open until Friday. Dreary color palette. If you want to fuck around doing errands play Ever Oasis instead.

>We want to provide the best experience possible with Colossus, and aim to release the final version in its best state. As such, we expect Early Access to continue until around the end of 2027.What the fuck? Early access is a disease. More than a year of expected EA should not be EA.
>>586557650I agree with you. EA has become a public beta and most 1.0 releases are in the state EA was intended before. Even genres where early access makes no fucking sense like metroidvanias or narrative-heavy games where the start is expected to change heavily as design is ironed out are going into EA a year or more in advance. At this point I only buy shit after several months unless I'm effectively willing to kickstart a project that may never exist.
>>586561354>At this point I only buy shit after several months unless I'm effectively willing to kickstart a project that may never exist.Or just look at the state of the game before you buy it?I buy EA games fully expecting the dev to run away with my money after I click buy.>where the start is expected to change heavily as design is ironed outThat would depend on whether you believe that dev vision should be supreme over all else, including player satisfaction. Otherwise this is imo what EA is good for.Though you are also paying to playtest so if that's what you mean then okay. After all, not every game is like Stellaris where it seems like they just change the entire game occasionally. If you have limited resources, you want to know early if your customers just heavily dislikes something.
I'm trying to play In Stars And Time and it's got me so conflictedOn one hand the art is cute, the gameplay is interesting, I like time loop plots, and some of the jokes are good. The party is endearing overallOn the other holy shit dude everything feels so slow and tons of the writing is either obnoxiously twee or levels of tumblr that makes Undertale look like Mein Kampf, I don't mind gay shit at all but ramblings about the merits of being genderfluid do not add to the game and neither does Bonnie overreacting to something for the third room in a row
>>586572207>ramblings about the merits of being genderfluid do not add to the gameThis is very much a "not the target audience" scenario. Said target audience fucking LOVES arguing about the merits of preferred genders and sexualities.
>>586573001I dunno man, it's not the gender stuff itself that bothers me, it's just how heavy-handed it gets sometimes and that applies to a lot of the dialogue in general. Like it's not just that there'll be a gag, it's that there'll be a gag and then the next three lines of dialogue are about how there was a gag there and explaining it to make sure you know there was a gag there.
>>586572207Despite the accolades I also heavily struggle with anything that has that sort of tone. It's a shame because there's a lot of stuff I'd know I'd like if I didn't dislike it, if that makes sense.
>>586544529In some scenes you can see she has boobs.>>586541287I think the protag was originally meant to be female, but was changed last minute to gender neutral for self insertion. There's also one extra scene where the protag is referred with "they".
>>586572207I get you, Siffrin is cute and I want to bent her against a tree and fuck her until she begs for forgiveness, but the whole fantasy land where people can mutilate themselves is creepy.
>>586581516>hersiffrin is a boy with a small and cute dickthe rest is true however
>>586582446girls can have small and cute dicks now, read the patch notes
>>586582446>siffrin is a boyNah, that's a girl. With a deceively round and plump (but not fat) bottom, perfect for holding on while having sex outdoors sex.
>>586582570why must such a cute fruit be stuck in such a tedious game
>>586583485Because if she was in a good game, she'd be all over Rule34, bent over a fallen log in the wood with a thick dick shoved in her ass while she moan.
>>586572207>>586573001>>586581516I thought it handled that subject in an alright way when normally any hint of it is something I can barely stomach at the best of times. It actually integrates it into the setting with literal bodyshaping magic and bothers to go into some of the negative consequences of such a thing being easily available, though if it does clearly lean towards a positive view.
>>586584546I mean, I tried to play the game, but the pronouns just filtered me, I had to refund it.Nowaday I'm a lot milder with that bullshit "they/them", but the idea of a world where you can freely shape yourself still makes me uneasy.
>>586584546It's just a bit much to me
>>586586780That looks annoying to play.
half of my wishlist is "coming "soon"" or TBA and I hate waiting more than almost anything else
>>586587003It kinda is, but it's kind of the point? I mean, the whole game is mostly a narrative game, think Oneshot with some RPG mechanisms. And also the character you follow is a foreigner with big self-esteem issues, so make sure she's finding local customs to be weird.
>>586587287>It kinda is, but it's kind of the point? Why would you play an annoying game in your free time unless you already were in agreement with the game's (seeminlgy) very hamfisted narrative?
>>586587403For the exotism? I don't really care for the American Civil War, but I still enjoy playing Gettysburg. Why do you care so much about narrative in a game meant to introduce you to new fantasy world? Is your comfort area so small that any game that doesn't take place in your hometown, featuring local values and local figures, makes you uneasy?I feel like you're watching a game about spelunking and complaining that it feels claustrophobic.
>>586587660Well it's a shit narrative. Most fantasy games aren't built upon a glaringly shit narrative.
>>586587660>For the exotism? The what? That's not a word. Are you saying it's exotic? Different? That it gives you a different perspective?>I feel like you're watching a game about spelunking and complaining that it feels claustrophobic. It's more "why would you play a game about spelunking if you don't care about spelunking."I literally don't know or care about what this game, all I saw were people bitching about how everything about gender was hamfisted and you were like "yeah it is, but that's the point" and surprised when I said I thought it was annoying and I didn't understand why you'd want to play it.That looks annoying to play. I wouldn't play it. That is my statement. Feel free to do whatever you want with your own time and money.
>>586587768I disagree but you're entitled to your (wrong) opinion.
>>586587768Maybe. But personally, if it's fantasy and it acknowledge it's fantasy, I don't mind it.I'd be more annoyed if the game was meant to be realistic but gender change was still easy or instant. I mean, it's a fantasy world, of course it's going to make allegory to real stuff, like how the Klingons were meant to be a stand-in for communists, with the explosion of their moon meant to mirror Chernoblyat, but I do like how ISAT still has one character being made uneasy by how easily people change themselves in this country. It's "just" local customs, you don't have to agree to it, and clearly it's considered unusual since Siffrin and the other woman need it to be explained.
>>586587973That most fantasy games aren't built upon a shit narrative?
>>586587003It is but mostly because it's a game about time loops and the text fast forwarding function is inconsistent as fuck as to when you can actually use it and there's apparently a lot of permanently missable shit (somehow) and there is a LOT of textFor me at least, it's less an ideological thing and more the gameplay stopping for dialogue once every 30 seconds and each dialogue sequence feels the need to really hammer in whatever it's trying to say even if what it's trying to say is Bonnie acting wacky about snacks for the nth timeLike from what I've played you could probably cut out about a full third of the text without compromising a single detail or joke
>>586588240ah, these are the wok games I've been hearing about.
>>586588240
>>586588240little girl armpits
>>586588258i smiled
>>586587003>>586588240It's designed to make you as tired of things as the protagonist is by the end but that does have the obvious effect of being tedious at times. Something that might be mildly amusing the first time you see it rapidly becomes annoying, and like the protagonist you turn into a bitter asshole actively rushing through things in search of an end.
>>586588643your honor, the terrible writing was in fact, fully intentional and crucial to the story.
>>586588643The fun part is that other characters will notice Siffrin is nodding off and call him out on it.
>>586588643I didn't like the game jerking me around on purpose when Omori did it and I don't like it now but I'll try to push through because I actually AM interested in Siffrin, but this game better have some real payoff for it or I'm gonna be pissy about that review score
>>586589046>this game better have some real payoff for itI think it did, I was very impressed, but then again, this discussion has been nothing but people disagreeing with me, so I'm not sure.
>>586589109maybe you're just the target audience.
>>586589176Nah. As I explained previously, the pronoun shit turned me off and filtered. I could stand the whole body modifications, but pronouns were too much.
>>586589329maybe you just have a tf fetish
>>586589450Turn off the projector, this is embarrassing.
>>586589471>being that defensive yeah you're gonna find yourself gooning to tf porn in a few weeks

>>586589471You struck a nerve, he immediatley projected even more.
lol
>>586589450As someone with an actual tf fetish I have to say that is not a reason to play this game. All the transformation is just background stuff rather than something that ever actually happens on-screen.

>>586591961WTF

>>586592293WTFAlso Empyrion if you're fine with 3D ego shooters instead of top down
>>586592293Yeah, but I still hate it. I played a character who wanted to free his mother.I fucked up, and he died.
>>586592691>I fucked up, and he died. That's what's going to happen to most of the characters you play though.
>>586592945I just hate that he tried to save his mother, and I fucked up and he died, and likely so did she.I just can't deal with that. And I can't redo it and make it right.
>>586592519>>586592181wtf does WTF stand for?
>>586593776It's a topdown game like Heat Signature where you play as an individual, build huge spaceships, capture them, walk around them (and stations) and sometimes try space walking and die.
>>586594118>and stationsI'm extremely horny, is it on Steam or what because google is just giving me Waifu Tactical Simulator
>>586594118OH.I was dead sure you were just trolling. Do you have the same game, but with horror elements where you need to clear ships from insane crewmates and horrors?
>>586594380>>586594875Did I mention it also has much better ship damage model than even Starsector? And you can design/tweak your ship internals block by block if you aren't happy with standard hulls. Really cool systems where you have to route power across the whole ship hull, etc. Hell you can even draw your energy shields pixel by pixel. Any part of ship can be damaged in combat or you can even cut ships in half. And yes, it is on steam. The catch is that it's been more or less abandoned by the dev for a long time. You won't find a bigger case of wasted potential. Wayward Terran Frontier.

>>586595823You mean >inflict bleed>damage it does is based off your attack statbecause that makes perfect sense, or>receive bleed>damage it does is based off your attack statbecause that's fucking deranged and i have to ask what game
>>586595823Are you talking about Queen Domain bleed status? Im like 20h into the game and I've yet to understand what its supposed to do.
>>586595962>>586597867Okay let's say a giga muscle minotaur pokes you with a needle that does 1 damage but instead of doing 1 bleed damage over time or per turn, it inflicts 9999 damage and kills you because his strength/attack is maxed outLet's also say a weak princess slashes you with the Shadowforged Sword of a Thousand Harvested Souls, dealing 50 damage but instead of doing 100 bleed damage over time or per turn, it does 1 bleed damage over time or per turnSame can be applied to your character as wellWould you still be okay with that

>>586662746Same, I hoped someone tried the actual game.>>586662904I mean, I see all Scots as beneath me, so I don't care whether they're highlanders, lowlanders, midlanders, dreamlanders, or sandlanders.
Bump
Thinking about going for Hyper Light Drifter, any thoughts?
>>586678161I think I hate Worst Premade Ever, all because of one person in that team.
>>586678161Phenomenal game, and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. I listen to it as an album fairly often. It's a little sparse and simple by modern indie standards but the exploration is good, the pixel art is evocative, and chaining dashes is better than sex. I can't recommend it highly enough. Shame about the studio.
I can continue blogposting with my end-of-month review snippets when we need bumps but recent reactions have been pretty milquetoast so I imagine there isn't much interest.
>>586678853I mean, if the general is dead, stuff like that won't revive it.
>>586679736Fair. There were a couple of times that it's sparked questions or discussion but it doesn't help I'm one of the people more terminally online and I'm not so far as to respond to my own shit. If no one's here no one's here.
>>586679968I mean, for once, I like talking about games, but they're games, you're meant to experience them yourself. It's not like tabletop games where everyone will have a different experience, we'll all end up facing the same monsters and the same dangers.
>>586680221I get where you're coming from but at that point why discuss things at all? People talk about books all the time. People talk about movies. Those are even more linear but still convey subjective experience as the audience interprets them. Someone saying "I played this game and it was busted as hell but I had an okay time" isn't a replacement for playing it but it can introduce you to a thing you wouldn't have heard of otherwise.
>>586682414>>I get where you're coming from but at that point why discuss things at all?I mean, that's pretty much why /indie/ is dead so often. Too many games at once. I could go on an autistic rant about Thief's lore and how I think it's tied to Dominions, but who cares?
>>586678853I will literally never complain about hearing a thought-out opinion on a game someone has actually playedEspecially in the case of indie games which need all the publicity they can get>>586682668>how I think it's tied to DominionsAs in the 4X game?
>>586682883Yes.Anyway, going to get an aspirin. Who would've though that ignoring a headache doesn't make it go away?
why do I have to be so shit at the games that interest me the most
>>586684225elaborate
>>586687743No.
>>586688349pretty please?
>>586687743soulslikes often have interesting stuff to em but I'm total dogshit at themcitybuilders look cool and I like seeing things be built up from nothing but I cannot into civil planningeu4 just takes a steaming piss on me the moment I open the game
>>586689113I'm lucky I don't like the idea of 4X games because I expect I'd also be ass at them. For soulslikes I just had to cut my teeth on them, I have no issue being methodical or stubborn but it takes a while to learn that many of them despite being punishing are kind of easy. You can't be impatient but the good ones reward you for playing at the game's pace.
