Disks/notes and relics to upgrade skills, reports to increase levels, balls to upgrade equipment, and equipment itself. They are the whole package. Meanwhile base missions just give equipment. A lot more than the event, and equips are still important, so people do run missions during 2x drop campaign, but event is generally the most important thing. The first week of an event such as right now on global never clashes with 2x drops either, so it's objectively always full-out on event during its first week.
