Master Duel players simply play more games, its really that simple.
In the time it takes to play one paper game, a MD player could have player many games.
Through repetition and the sheer number of games MD players can learn better about matchups and how to play against certain decks/archetypes.
Though I doubt a MD player would do well if you suddenly told them to play TCG, because there isn't orange buttons or icons telling what you can do etc. They also aren't aware of certain rulings (they just know some things happen the way they do because that's how it happens in Master Duel) so if your opponent is opportunistic and notices that they're going to rule shark and cheat on you.

It's probably about the same overall, but MD has at least some semblance of skill sorting. A random player in Masters may be bad but will at least be playing a good deck and have a basic combo memorized and will have gone through a good amount of games to get there. A random player that happens to live in your town and go to your locals may end up hard stuck in plat if he were playing MD, but he's still mixed in with the best players in your area.

MD's economy also has an impact on the decks people play. There won't be a guy who is locked out of their deck's best boss monster or the new staple because it's 100 dollars. And there also won't be as many guys who put together a shitdeck without testing because it cost next to nothing(or literally nothing in an unofficial sim). Most people out of the bottom ranks are either playing good decks or have more properly dedicated themselves to their rogue deck.

This is happening more and more as Konami designs decks to both shit out full board off 1 card and draw 2-3 times per turn like Maliss. With full power Maliss 1 unresolved Dourmouse thins 20 cards from the deck all but guaranteeing that the 3 draws from Chessy and White Binder will be handtraps, especially one of the 3 Drolls that stop Maliss counters.

In order for a board to be good enough to be played in modern YGO, it fits needs to be resilient to board breakers
Of this subset of decks the tier 1 needs to be good vs handtraps.
So the best decks in the game should always be strong into whatever type of counterplay the opponent tries to run.
Since #1, being good against breakers, is a prerequisite, evenly tends to be bad against meta decks. If evenly is ever consistently good vs the best deck (like with Tear) the game is kind of ass
Memento is a deck that is evenly weak but gets along fine because as long as negate slop is strong in the game, evenly won't get played so Memento has a niche as a powerful evenly-weak deck
Branded is kind of the same way, modern branded sits on a bunch of bodies that need to activate in Main Phase
And going forward Rolad is actually Evenly weak. So it needs to be slopped with negates to actually be tier 1 (since it is inherently good vs handtraps)

Super Poly was lethal against White Forest even with 3+ omni negates simple because of Starving Venom
You'd vaporize St. Azamina and either Dragoon or Vengeance, then run over Ilia Silvia. Then threaten with Starving Venom's copy effect on Vengeance or Baronne. Because Dragoon + Baronne has to negate + destroy if they respond to dragoon you nuke their board.
Muddy and Garura are good utility cards but they aren't board breakers. Not in the same way that Norden, Mixousia or even Fave Flare are.
Part of the frustration with Elfnote is even if I super poly away baronne or crystal wing and elves for Chorizo, Chorizo does fuck all as a super poly target and is more abused to break locks like with Charmer Bloom. And Muddy doesn't do anything to elves themselves because Lucina and Rhapsodia don't target. Fuck that deck

Playing the Trial showed me what I really hate about modern yugioh the most; HTs and disproportional card advantage.
It's not even the stun/burn decks or exodia decks that get me mad, if they don't run Anti-Spell Fragrance or Royal Degree.

Gorz is such a bullshit card, it's good going second but especially going first, even with good amount of removal.
Board nuking your Opponent with power spells just to get greeted by that fucker and your Opp drawing back to back into it.

Diamond Dude turbo is also such a bullshit deck, just go +4 + a body on field non-hopt Malicious, draw in your power spell cards and search Stratos with 2 ROTA + your first Stratos. The beginning of graveyard faggotry.

2006 is truly when Yugioh died, at least for me.

Frantically trying to get him out, hoping they don't actually banish/destroy/negate Scout (one of the ONLY searchers Qli gets by the way) and go for one of my useless bait facedowns instead, like Lightning Storm if I drew it and I know I won't be able to use it going second. Hoping from the moment the duel starts that the opponent is not a Link spam deck, because Towers and Skybase are not immune to Links and have not been errata'd to be immune to Link Monster effects either. Hoping that my drew stun/floodgates are enough to make me last past the first couple turns so I can have pendulums ready while Scout is still active, so I can do one of my only combos as Qli.
But I've personally been faced with the unpleasant reality that some decks just have enough raw attack power to break through Towers, and there's nothing you can do if you already have pendulum zones occupied. That's one of the few times when I seriously wish I had Twin Twisters or some easy way to deliberately remove Scout myself just to throw on another scale 9 Qli for the enemy attack down. On the other end, there's times when Qliphort Monolith as your low pend scale is not worth it because you might not be living long enough to tribute and get enough draw benefit from it. In that case any low-scale Qli works, because every 100 points of ATK can matter against 3K bosses like BEWD that can simply crash Towers away and not ever feel disadvantaged in the process.
