You should be happy leveling up, instead lots of people look at it and roll their eyes as they make another small step getting 5 attribute points.It also is a problem when almost every single passive tree build ends up looking the same. While in poe1 gear increases in relevance as it should of course, it's still not as bad. And when I say passive tree I'm including ascendancies too. Some got better, and the newer ones have some powerful ascendancy nodes but for example compare getting a boss as a companion to your skills costing lift on top of mana as an OBLIGATORY ascendancy in bloodmage for example, which they had to make free and even now it's still mediocre. It's an ASCENDANCY and your character was WORSE when you put that point in it before it was free.
I think the reason I hate on jonatroon so much and poe2 for that matter is because he promised he would fix melee and instead we got a bigger pile of shit than what is already in poe1. I really hate the fact that my character always does some sort of animation and moving at the same time. I died so many times while using earthquake or sunder or leap, leap is the absolute worst.I just don't understand how they've coded that in and then their internal testers played it and said it's good to ship it like that.Am I the only one that thinks like this? Then you play the end game and what is it? 10,000 rape-mobs with 10 different modifiers bumrushing you because there is no AI to enemies other than "attack the player" and so you're either getting pelted with tons of projectiles or everything is moving towards you. It means that the slower leapslam with the little run up and the endlag (you have to cancel with a dodgeroll) feels way worse to actually use.This was always an issue, even in 0.1 when the game was at its slowest. They made the end game just like PoE1 (nothing drops good loot unless you kill 10,000,000 of them) and as such all of their design work into animations and delays feels like a double edged sword. PoE2 was never going to work as they designed the campaign without fundamentally changing how the ARPG genre worked. Remember when they added rogue exiles and described them as engaging and interesting fights? They just attack you with player skills and you blow them up. That is it.
