The Ravens are supposed to have a human operator communicating with other forces on their behalf. The transmissions are gibberish because they're pure drone data stream and you don't have the software to read it.
The Triumphant is meant to be entirely autonomous and thus needs to communicate with other forces by itself. It just speaks Belkan because it's incomplete and using Belkan engineer default speech

As someone who owns both the Growler and the Barricader, I regret owning both. The Growler's a better buffslut 60 general blueprints in but the Barricader handles better and can slot a single (disappointing) special weapon alongside IEWS. But EW's MSL only gameplay isn't rewarding for me, and shitting on opponents with ESM sucks because dogfighting in warfare is gay. At least I can do EW only weeklies but fuck man, if I could refund my unlock investments I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'm assuming that you're using the F-4E for Chandelier and Arsenal bird. I think that the Su-25 is worthy of investment. Its gunpods are significantly more potent vs chandelier than the F-4, and its SFFS bombs are excellent vs alicorn. The F-15E IMO is better vs alicorn since it has the same SFFS bombs but a much better airframe, but the F-15E's expense isn't something that I recommend lightly.

Assault became so much comfier after I realized winning or losing doesn't matter, and me screwing around doesn't screw my teammates from being MVP

Su-34 only gets better and better, but you're basically at the level cap for the F-15E anyway and it'll be the same number of gold blueprints to max out either. The F-14s and F-4 are pretty cheap to take to level 20, F-15C's a solid SASM slinger that also gets HCAAs for missile spam. Berkut might be one of the best multiroles along with the Rafale; UGBs are always relevant and it's got the speed to use them, and SAAMs are surprisingly dangerous. Pixy gets you some cool nicknames if you keep playing them. Growler's the EW experience in a nutshell, if you like it you like it; taking it all the way to 20 makes it a better buffer/debuffer than the Barricader.

What was you guys' fave mission from AC8?
For me I'd say it was Mission 15. I've noticed that it's the one mission I keep thinking back to long after I've finished the game. The combat is incredibly engaging, the soundtrack is amazing, and the Ladons themselves are pretty cool.

It's also like one of three missions across the entire Ace Combat series that truly taught me how to play. I'm a 7babby, so Mihaly was a big skill check for me. When I went back to play the whole series starting from Air Combat/AC1, AC3 was a huge skill check with its more realistic flight model. Nothing fucking grilled me like the Remora/Sepia mission where you have to chase down low-orbit bombers and all of your planes are entirely hopeless in keeping up with them, you have to learn proper specific pitching & rolling maneuvers to optimize your climbing, it was hell. Then came Wings of Wax. First time across the series where I'm properly taught to use my guns and get close-in dogfighting patdown. Nothing challenged me like them again, not Shadow22 or Tewy. I'm a little disappointed Bamco chose to nerf the Ladons, I thought they were a very important lesson to learn, not just for nuggets but also vets like myself.

Like let's say the mission is "fly in a straight line, take out enemies as you go". Normally, that'd be fairly boring, but you could spice it up by having secret routes (tunnels and the like), destructible elements, or spawnable enemies if you preform certain actions (which is already done to spawn aces, but the same concept can be applied to regular enemies).
I really want more from the average mission. Not more enemies, just more interesting elements.

You're pretty much describing AC3, nearly every mission branches into a different path based on your choices. Some choice even ADD missions that normally wouldn't be there.

I've said this before somewhere, but I suspect PA were secretly workshopping a route system with AC8 that they probably had to abandon for whatever reasons. You have choices like Gemma/Ventus, saving/leaving Jackpot 9, engaging/fleeing the Shadows, etc. And what I suspected was the biggest choice of them all that they decided to scrap: choosing who to save between Baxter and Kate. Everyone agrees that Kate's fakeout death is very strangely placed close to Baxter's actual death, it didn't make sense to have it at all, unless it was a remainder from a path split that they scrapped.

I'm fairly confident AC9 will have a path system, one that resembles AC3'S.

Queen flight have full 3d models, yet all they ever do is stand behind Kate in briefings, and their own unique helmets despite never appearing in any cutscenes.

They also spent the time and effort to scan the USS Hornet to accurately model out the Endurances corridors and room for a walking around segment that was also never used. Cope's room cutscene is clearly framed in a way to imply that you'd be walking around and reading his stuff, but it's never used.

NTA I do agree with you that it makes sense to have one long fixed campaign, but branching paths are fantastic for replayability. As we've seen with AC8, game pretty much died right as soon as people were done with it, which is entirely normal for a singleplayer game, but I doubt that's what PA had in mind. Between the unlockables and Online mode, they were probably hoping it'd have a small, but steady playerbase after that first wave of campaign completions were done, but that's not what happened. Online is exceedingly ass and the unlockables are whatever, and since the campaign's fixed, the vast majority of players have already moved on. Branching paths definitely would have helped a lot with player retention, even with a still terrible MP mode.

PVP as a concept does not work for an arcade flight sim where you're meant to shoot down hundreds of targets in one mission. It works for War Thunder and DCS where the flight model is significantly more realistic and you're not carrying a three hangars' worth of ordinance. I'd say arcade mode is more realistic than ace combat. In >arkaden it's still possibly for me to bait someone into an energy trap with a climbing spiral to rope-a-dope them while their control surfaces are dead in the water . But that kind of play can't happen in ace combat where everyone is a rocket ship with a 30:1 thrust to weight ratio and the ability to turn on a dime with 100g turns.

That kind of silly flight model is fun in its own right and great when you're doing tunnel runs and shitting on entire armies worth of NPC targets, but you've got to have a few screws loose to think it sounds like something good to PvP in.

It's virtually impossible unless your controller runs out of battery or something and i've only played AC7 before, the threat just isn't there, even the superweapons aren't threatening, after finishing Zero on Ace i think it's a very easy game, and yet it feels way harder and also more real because you can't fuck it up. Didn't dodge the Excalibur? Dead, Tried to get greedy with a SAAM? Dead, didn't dodge a Pixy nuke? Dead, Fly too slow against an enemy elite squad? Dead, in AC8 you can eat like 8 Railgun shots to the face, hit the ground and bounce with minor damage, or tank a railgun shot from the X40. I like both but i think i prefer Zero despite being inferior in every possible way because Zero is a game rather than a visual spectacle.

It really sucks but the games have been aiming for a more casual audience ever since 7 so it's never going to live up to the Ace experience from the older games. People who only ever played 7 and 8 don't know what it's like to lose 1/3 of your HP from being grazed by AA fire or enemy MGs or getting 1-tapped by enemy missiles. Ace runs in 4/5/0 (even 6 even if you ignore the fact the CFA-44 trivializes the campaign) had the opportunity to be challenging, in 7 and 8 it's just another day at the office.
I wish they could add another difficulty level for the true™ fans.

Something I noticed with the plane stats leveling in online is that planes in online already start with the same pitch rate as its SP counterpart, but their roll rates are pure garbage and only get better by level 15. Selling the game to a wider comes with necessary caveats like these. No fucking shot would 7 and 8 sell in Current Year+11 with the amount of autism that AC3-0 had. It's just too hard. And you know it's true because AC0 actually sold like fucking ass, it wasn't a popular game, and this was way back when people actually had *some* patience for vidya.

The Ladons and Topkek getting nerfs is all you need to know about the modern audience. They can't handle having any type of friction in their games, and honestly, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I don't get it- I do. But just as casaulizing a game comes with pros like higher sales, it also comes with cons like reducing player retention. Without the challenge, nuggets will just cruise through the game with no speedbumps then move on to the next thing. But if they were forced to REALLY engage with it and its mechanics, they would be actively invested in the game, and this means you'll have a base to sell not just DLC to, but also future releases and remakes.

The fact that PSMs exist but at no point during the game are you even nudged to actually use them, is proof that the series needs a harsher flight model. Maybe something like what AC3 had or even more realistic. PSMs are supposed to be your lifeline for when sustaining high-G turns is not an option. But there's no consequences at all to holding the triggers for 5 minutes, so who cares?

Because Shadows behave a lot differently from Sol Squadron and Mihaly, especially on Ace/Elite. They stick to your ass while spamming kulbits and infinite flares. At minimum you should be using guns and non-turn airbrakes to properly shoot them down, if you try to just tailchase with high-G turns and tag with missiles, well, you'll be in the same seat as all those nuggets who cried to Bamco so loud they nerfed Topkek. PSMs and guns make all Shadow fights a complete joke, including Tewy, I don't think I taggef her with a missile even once, guns did the job.

I was able to beat Topkek on the first attempt on Elite, but it took me a while to cotton on to the fact I had to use guns, so i had a clear time of 38 minutes. When I redid M28 on Ace to clear it before the nerf, somehow I cleared the mission in 31 minutes. But that's only half the story. The other half of the technological side is technically Neucom as well, which we see in action in the Aurelia-Leasath War where Leasath are developing an XFA-type plane, the Fenrir, suggesting EASA technology. We also see Aurelia being supplied with planes with COFFIN-equipped planes with Neucom plane designations, meaning the Aurelia-Leasath conflict was probably Neucom funding Diego Gaspar Navarro with the intent on making bank off of the mass-produced Fenrir.

Now it gets weird. We know that the Triumphant was developed by the FCU in cooperation with General Resource and Enso Order. The X-40 relies on APS drone technology that we know comes from Erusea, because the predecessor of the Triumphant, the Alicorn, had them stocked. And given they're a wholly unique development at the time compared to the massive oversized version the Arsenal Birds have, we can assume they're of Neucom make as they take over the EASA which were the drone developers around.

What connects all this? Enso Order.

Pixy was 28 during Zero. Cipher was probably a year or two younger. By the time of 8, they're both in their 60s.

Tbh, I primarily choose planes based on how they handle (SU-25 and Mig-21 being an exception because I like MGPs) - I will concede that the SU-57 was a metafag choice purely because it's abilities shit all over the F-22s. The SU-34 is a more economical choice than the F-15E and I'd argue that the Growler is a better EW plane than the barricader due to the abilities that it gets (Though Barricader will get Damage up in the future which will make it better.)

Tier list in my opinion, For overall usefulness of the planes.

S Tier:
SU-34, SU-57, Mig-31, EA-18, EA-36, Morgan
A Tier:
SU-25 (SSS for E sorties, meh everywhere else), Gripen, FA-36, F-15C, Typhoon, F-14D, SU-47, F-16, F-18E, Mirage-2000 (UGB Ability fucks)

I actually disagree with this. I don't like how defining special weapons have become to the plane in AC8. You can carry so many of them so they're not even that special anymore. Not to mention, there's really no need to pick one instead of two so long as you have two good options, and if you don't, then you're better off picking a plane that does.

You don't need to play with the objective best plane and objective best SpW. There is a challenges medal for getting through the entire campaign as a fucking attacker. You can easily clear the game using an F-4E with only UGBs. If you fly anything but your favorite plane (outside of challenges), you are factually playing the game wrong.

I really do not like points like these, it reminds me of people saying "AC7 is easier than other games cus you have flares"
The games are balanced independently between each other, some missions will bleed you dry of them, others will keep you comfortable. In some missions your SPW completely changes how you play it, M8 with UGBs is a bit of a struggle, with LAGM and other long range A2G it's a complete breeze, but some of my friends still swear by UGBs even if they're potentially worse.
It's about your own playstyle and comfort.

Plus it's really funny to say that SPWs define a plane in AC8 when you had Ace Combat 5 where the literal only reason for you to have multiple planes, was because you couldn't pick your SPWs

And, putting aside the abysmal UE5 engine, they've been VERY CONSISTENT in delivering the same level of quality: a PS2-era gaming experience.

5's giant roster was only that big because it packed with variants, so that wasn't really great anyway. When Zero dropped all the variants it didn't make the game any worse. Should have kept FB-22 and Flatpack though.

Despite what I just, you're comparing Infinity after updates to AC8 at launch. Launch Infinity also had way less planes, much worse balance, only five normal missions and only one emergency, no cost limit option, and the parts system was actually even worse than 8's because high tier planes had more slots than low tier ones because fuck low tiers. They eventually improved/fixed all those but at launch it was bad.
ACI also had the issue that damage was linked to base cost so low tier planes couldn't get one/two shots that high tier planes could, and that was never fixed. That really sucked. You could usually get around it by using special planes since most planes had at least one high cost special, but the base planes very often just sucked.
I conveniently still have an image of the original ACI aircraft tree, and it's not exactly great, is it?

Advantage of multiple SpW

>ability to have more missles in the air at once for pressure

Advantage of single SpW:
>less mental load
>you get like 5 more of the stronger missle

Taking multiple special weapons is clearly the superior choice for people who can handle the mental load. Getting slightly more of the better missle doesn't even matter because in online you don't have the time to spend them and in campaign you can just resupply.
