The thing is that Trickcal is a game whose appeal is cute chibis, the sexy part is the spice that greatly improve the main thing. Meanwhile in Patima they decided to focus hard on the sexy aspect, and the characters design simply doesn't look cute as Trickcal (no comment on their personality because I haven't interacted with any of them beside Xion and Guin). This contrast is what makes most people wary of Patima IMO. Also, hypersexualized chibis just don't do it for me.
