CaiLeda is so underrated. They don't have years of history with each other, as they only meet during the Heroic Games, but they leave very profound impressions on each other. He is very polite with her from the get go and obviously finds her very attractive, while she flirts-teases him, while also making fun of Tialla and rubbing it in her face. Later on she has the legendary crash out scene when they fight each other in the arena, where she says some vile and straight up villainous shit to him after he refuses to back down. But an interesting thing is that even with that she treats Cai differently than she does any other male character in the game. Leda constantly talks shit about men, and given her own experiences and what we see her go through in the game, not at all without reason despite the unfair generalization. She gets constantly hit on and on the receiving end of unwanted advances, Dagdan society does have serious problems with misogyny and violence, so she is constantly on guard and defensive. But with Cai Leda is so much nicer, because Cai is very kind and sweet to her. To the point that she opens up to him a lot instead of going on the defensive as usual. Leda consistently feels comfortable enough it tell him things that she probably shouldn't be telling him, she trauma dumps him more than once. And Cai both listens and really tries to help her, to the point that he internalizes some of her feelings and questions his own until someone - mostly Tialla - snaps him out of it. When they fight they couldn't be in a more different state of mind, she doesn't want to fight him at all and even admits to like him, while he sympathizes with her truly but won't put aside his own goals for her, which makes her snap in a way we don't see her snap at any other character. Even against Bertrand, the guy she hates and wants dead, Leda was not that unstable as she ultimately doesn't go through with it.

She looks their relationship in retrospect, shows real empathy for his own loss, and actually apologizes to him for the stuff she did while seeking to have a new connection. Cai doesn't change much because he already was the more emotionally mature out of the two even when he was younger, but he challenges her perception in a very gentle way. She admits that she feels safe with him while blushing and saying it almost shyly. And you know what, that is the absolute best love confession someone like Leda can make. The whole talk about comparing love to hate as intense emotions that drive life, actually equating love to hate, is absolute bullshit. Actual love is not like hate at all; Kalla was talking complete nonsense and Olympia was right to call that out. So Leda thinking about the love her parents had for each other, how safe it made her feel, and then admitting how safe she feels with Cai after everything that has happened, that is absolutely stellar character development for her and the foundation for an amazing relationship as well
