All the multi-gathering is doing is simulating and rewarding you as if you fully depleted the ore/gather/bug source through multiple individual gathering. So yes, even if you did one swing and got all of the ore from it at once, you still can break multiple pickaxes from it. I'm putting the last touches on everything and bug testing, mainly just cleaning up notifications (so the game does stuff like indicate Iron Ore x6 in one popup instead of dropping 6 reps of x1).I'm debating on if I should retain the infinite/non-depleting, out of combat stamina for transport items like eggs and powderstones. The overall goal is to speed up the repetition and waiting room effect, not actually removing any gameplay systems. I don't have any ideas after getting this implemented with the other mods already out. I may take a crack at gathering quests auto completing once you have the quest required items in your inventory, instead of the quest having you deliver them back (except for transport quests obviously).

Also, I am leaving carving speeds and mechanics untouched (including the Yukumo Wood "gathering" spot in the Moutain Stream) untouched just so people can still get fucked on the big elders if they cart near the end or don't get into position in time to get all the carves before the timer runs out.
