It's not that I dislike Flowery, I enjoy him, but his execution was flawed in the sense I think he was designated to do way too much in his chapter. He's the whimsy scrimblo funny main darkner, who's the main antagonist of the chapter, who's also giving special attention to Asgore, and also has a special challenge for Ralsei's character, but he's also outspoken towards all three heroes, acts simultaneously as a supportive role but also a defiant one since the beginning and still has to share screentime with the other six flowers. It's just too much, he's trying to do what Tenna did in a way Queen did and also a bit of Gerson all at once.

Crazy as it is to say given flowery is my favorite "darkner", i actually hated him when he first showed up, i thought he was insanely derivative and ruined the tone set up by 4. I eventually came around as the chapter went on, and by the time i got to fighting him, i had completely fallen in love with this stupid flower. I think deltarune benefited greatly from his existence as a genuine well intentioned person, which contrasts greatly with the constant lies and coming betrayal for the fun gang. I am a pretty cynical person, but flowery being so over the top and hopeful managed to make me smile, and that's the reason i like chapter 5 despite all its issues.

I do agree on this one, it's perhaps less about the character himself and more about how he's used. Combined with the fact that he's already a parody of a typical Mary Sue, he just starts to feel like a Mary Sue period. One thing I wish he got in the chapter though is a more pronounced rivalry with Kris, that'd show his own insecurity more and make him more likeable while also giving Kris more stuff to do in the Dark World.

I don't think it's Ooc, in the same way I don't feel Susie being noellebrained through the chapter was Ooc. it's a matter of execution, his characters have a wide range of emotions but he's not great at transitioning them so it comes off as sudden because it's now time for Ralsei to get really tsundere at Flowery. I think it also has to do with screentime constrains in the chapter and the desire to play out tropes even when they aren't very adequate. See Ralsei's tsundereism
