That's exactly what's going to happen. I know rdr2 you could technically just leave the cabin in the snow to go down to town. But really, who actually did that on their first playthrough?

i dread reaching the point in VI where i have to rush the story just to get to Lucia, i hope that i wont have to do too much of that. would be funny if Lucia exists in the open world persistently and you can either wait for her to get out, pay off her bail or just go there guns blazing and break her out.

I remember what that one anon said a while ago about having the hype deflated now that he’s starting to remember this is just a video game and I’m feeling that massively right now. It probably won’t live up to all or even a lot of expectations but I still have my fingers crossed they deliver something worthwhile I guess.

Just the amount of NPCs and the quality of their models being on screen is insane to me, not to mention the advanced physics, the sweat/muscle systems, and the more immersive elements that make you not want to stop playing. It will be more interesting that hardware can support interaction or destruction on more objects than said objects being on a higher resolution.But, what I think the new videogame revolution may be is the use of AI on the behavior of NPCs and randomly generated events and missions. A realistic sandbox not on the graphics side but in the un-scripted interaction within.
