he can pretty safely spam this while target swapping and dish out tons of nigh-unavoidable damage to multiple foes
even if you parry it, it only nets a heavy parry punish

if Ubisoft wants him to keep this hitbox and keep the move unblockable, then they need to nerf the damage down to something like 19 or 20

the fastest ki8lling universal execution is the That's Cannon, which kills in 2200ms and lasts7800ms

anything faster than 2200ms is automatically a unique strength, and having perks or feats that can boost that strength are worth speculating on

if an Orochi gets a kill in a teamfight, they can heal themselves 105 HP often before anyone can stop them

these are two scripters who were playing in a 4 stack
they were the only ones being blatant in their stack, but there was a highlander who seemed to have a script set up for instantly going into a grab from unlock

the highlander's script would be doing something like

>instantly feint the heavy to fast flow
>dodge forward out of the fast flow transition (which is something that Highlander can do)
>the dodge count as the start of the forward dodge grab
and all of these inputs would happen instantly where he would just suddenly being launching at you when not even half a second prior he was just sprinting around the objective
he basically used a script to give highlander a new overpowered sprint attack

How do I stop sucking mad ass at this game?
I actually think its a lot of fun, but I always feel like I'm fighting the controls to do what I want to do, while I watch people around me channel Bruce Lee and flow like water between lights, Heavy Feints, guard breaks, and any special moves they may have.
I just came back to the game after a long time, and I'm still having fun, but I'd like to be less dead weight, or even be able to consistently hold my own in 1v1s that aren't against players that aren't new.
Especially in dominion. Its the mode my friend group plays the most but I'll be dammed if I can even hope to survive multiple people at once for more than 3 seconds on anyone that isn't Hitokiri or Warden.

How is it that no one knows how to gank in dom? I'm not even talking about advanced stuff like light confirming. I seem to be the only player in my region that will circle behind the enemy player and spam indicators. I will back light into unblockable finisher feint spam until I can get a guaranteed hit or kill without feeding revenge. While doing this i'll watch a teammate with a neutral bash like afeera or glad throw fucking lights at the enemy and not use their kit. I watched a nuxia throw continuous lights at an enemy that was locked on to me, just externally blocking them. Jesus christ. All rep 200-500 players as well.

Players also seem to be allergic to holding points in dom. As soon as they cap one, they run off to fight the enemy in the middle of nowhere. The amount of times ive seen an ally cap a point, then leave it, for it to immediately be capped by the enemy is insane. Life is unending pain as a solo queuer

that is to say that they can end the recovery period of a move early using certain actions (almost always dodges or going into full-block)

so Orochi will let his unblockable finisher heavy fly and then he can dodge attack out of the recovery
and by the way that dodge attack is also how he does his deflects
so you'll correctly read that he was going to let it fly, but then you failed to correctly make the second read on whether he was going to

okay so first thing that you need to understand about Highlander is his main weakness, which is his neutral pressure (or rather his lack of neutral pressure)
Highlander has one (1) reliable opener, and even then it doesn't necessarily force a reaction from your opponent or gurantee more than chip damage
his only true opener is his zone, which gains hyperarmor at 500ms, is feintable, and chains into 2 subsequent zones with only 100ms gaps in the hyperarmor
even after Ubisoft RAPED his offensive lights last patch, one of his best neutral starters is

>use the feint to fast flow
>immediatly perform an enhanced light to gain frame advantage (LMAO NOT ENHANCED ANYMORE)
>either continue to pressure with more lights or initiate a kick / UB heavy mixup
but of course this is now a gamble because if they block your light you are kicked back to neutral and will have wasted some stamina

most people will just block your zone instead of risking a parry
and usually if they are going to parry, they'll parry the first one
you can chain the zone into a finisher heavy (which can be chained back into the zone)
try throwing the finisher heavy from the opposite side and then feinting to GB
people really like to block all of the zones and then try to parry the finisher heavy at the end because of the slightly larger gap

you CAN use other moves to try and open your opponents up, but most of them are just to get you into OS or hyperarmor trade through what you think you're opponent is going to do

the main use for celtic curse is its CRAZY hyperarmor startup at 200ms
this makes it a great tool for opening into a TRADE, or just giving you a hyperarmor start to fast flow to offensive stance
at the end of the forward dodge you can either regular fast flow to offensive stance, or hard feint to fast flow to offensive stance

after you use feint to fast flow, you can skip the recovery of the fast flow by forward or side dodging
this allows some goofy looking gap closing tech where you

parries and crushing counters are the """easiest""" way to """""safely""""" enter Offensive Stance from neutral, but that of course means you're relying on the opponent to do something, which makes you predictable
a lot of this is just going to boil down to matchup knowledge and knowing how certain characters are able to sidestep parts of your kit entirely

also just use caber toss to interrupt people's big moves in general

good players will often start feinting heavies into a parry in order to punish overuse of crushing counters
if you use them too often you will be ROLLED by players who know how to do this

>place bear trap to hopefully bait out a forward dodge heavy or something like that
>immediatly lunge into a forward dodge caber toss

so that's an automatic 25 + 26 damage punish

if you space it correctly you can grab the opponent far enough away from the trap where they don't land in the trap, but are still close enough that when you land the heavy after the grab, they stumble backwards into the bear trap LETTING YOU GET ANOTHER HEAVY

longbow CAN be dodged on reaction, but Highlander is probably the best hero in the game for guranteeing a hit from it

you can gurantee a hit with the longbow after kicking someone into a wall or landing a caber toss

you are actually unsafe after they wakeup from the caber toss because of the longbow's recovery, but a wallsplat off of a kick is usually safe

one last bonus piece of advice

there are certain heroes that you will just SUCK fighting
namely characters with great neutral pressure and good neutral hyperarmor

fighting Warlords just sucks
their hyperarmor is better than yours
and they can option select some of your moves by just bashing you
my only tip I can offer is go for parries and try to keep your spacing and throw out neutral kicks when you have just enough distance

fighting Conq is also pretty bad for you

and Valk

actually yeah the characters who can punish with a quick bash off their full block can fuck you up if you arent careful

fighting Orochi and Pirate also sucks, but that can be said for most of the roster

Shugoki also rapes Highlander pretty badly for the same reasons as Warlord

so it used to be that in Offensive Stance, changing your guard direction after a dodge would cancel the recovery of the dodge, allowing you to almost immediately dodge again

this was before Offensive Stance had a dodge attack of course
theyve also made it so that whenever you dodge in Offensive Stance it changes your guard direction to the direction you dodge (you used to keep your guard direction through the dodges)

you actually used to be able to forward wavedash fast enough to almost keep up with unlocked sprinting players
but Ubisoft killed that part of wavedashing with the guard direction changes

you can still wavedash to the side during a fight which can be really useful for quickly putting distance between you and an enemy by locking on to another enemy and external dodging away from the one who is attacking you

I wanted to git gud with an all guard hero and started playing VG because I like the shield and axe combo. Cant seem to get the timing down for the all guard to catch externals, or as a recovery cancel. People just wont attack me when the 'should'. Switch to BP because very similar. People are attacking me when they 'should'. Start flipping people multiple times a fight using bulwark as a recovery cancel. it's just Aramusha's full block, but it still pins people even if they used an enhanced move (enhanced moves wont get bounced by aramusha's full block)
her all guard is complete horse shit in team fights because you will barely clip a VG with an external zone and suddenly you're eating an entire wombo combo punish
she is one of the most oppressive gankers in the game because she can just continuously shut down the victim with her pinning all guard without actually feeding any revenge

also because of how scary her all guard is, people know that VGs love to use it so they'll frequently feint moves or delay attacks in order to avoid giving the VG an easy all guard

best time to use VG's all guard is to punish a dodge attack after letting your finisher heavy fly

I also reccomend trying to read when people are going to feint to GB and instead throw out a neutral bash

Ive pinned 2-4 players multiple times and done the zone (which is designed specifically for that situation) and its just fucking misses all of them. Where as bulwark counter you have hyperarmor and cant miss unless you get cucked by wall collision.

I know about light checks and interrupts. I am not using her all guard in 1v1 unless they are super aggressive and love to zone/light from neutral or as a recovery cancel to catch dodge attacks.

You have a few options in a 1v2/3/4 you pin an enemy and expect their allies to interrupt (with an attack not a bash) you can:
Try and time the superior light to external the none pinned enemy
Light punish then go back into all guard and pray they aren't going to throw a heavy and feint to gb
Heavy punish but feint it to parry/all guard
Zone attack which has a 360 hitbox but fuck all range and misses a lot

In team fights or ganking its common for me to get interrupted by enemies or my team mates.

My original posts point was in comparison to BP, where you just press button and get punish. No extra thought required and cant be interrupted, bar some weird bash interactions or wall collision.

Once you really get Zhanhu's flow down you will 100-0 people for the cost of your stamina bar. After you get a heavy from GB, go straight into your forward dodge bash. The enemy is frame negative after the heavy and have to read the bash. They cannot dodge on reaction. Dont use your dodge attacks defensively because they are extremely GB vulnerable. Instead use them offensively as part of your mixup, instead of always going for the finisher heavy/lights

Zhanhu has every ingredient for being a complete bastard, but he doesn't pull shit out of his ass like Pirate and Orochi so he is generally tolerated and respected

all I can say is go for frequent GBs because that is the ONLY thing that can pull her out of her stance (other than an undodgeable)
try to be patient because they like to use their directional soft feints, but if you wait you can react to it
if you have a feintable bash you can bait them into dodge attacking, which is kind of easy to punish because her dodge attacks got slowed down (because they can come from any direction regardless of which direction she dodges in)

I just came back to this game, havent played in years, i had a bunch of questions

1. How is Orochi right now? I wanted him to be my favorite back then but he was very bad, he didnt have anything good other than 400ms second lights so he was pretty useless against people good at the game. These days it seems like he got a kick and unblockable and storm rush and all that shit, i was wondering how good he is now in 4v4 and 1v1. and any tips for him??
2. Zhanhu seems fun but i was wondering about these unblockable light attacks. Back when i played, they were basically suicide. In the current day, how easy is it to tell them apart from the heavy attacks? How likely am i to get parried and eat shit if i throw out one of these after doing several unblockable heavies?
3. is it just me or do dominion games end way faster now
4. is it humanly possible to get a good match in breach or deathmatch?
