Heard that Lord of the Rings Online been rising in popularity recently. Worth try it? Any tips for a beginner? Minstrel or Rune master?
Hey FaggotsMy name is Pushdûg, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are weak, puny, knife-ears who spend every of their day looking at stupid ass pictures. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever had meat back on the menu? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you take it to a whole new level. This is even worse than seething about silmarils. Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I was captain of the westfold kill squad, and starter on the dwarf-head bowling team. What sports do you play, other than "prance around baking lembas"? I also get maggoty bread, and have a banging hot captive (She just blew me; shit was SO cash). You are all faggots and should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening.Pic Related: It's me and my bitch.
I think the game is worth it. The amount of content made available to f2p players has risen dramatically in the last few years and you'll have tons of shit to do.I can't speak to either minstrels or rune masters. Never played either.
Have there been any improvements in server performance? Now that Turtle wow is going away and LOTRO has some kind of UI scaling implemented i might give LOTRO another chance.
>>2355661they mostly fixed high resolution support so I started playing again.it's a slow burn. don't expect this to be some sweaty experience like wow or ffxiv.definitely worth playing if you just want to chill out in a mmo though.if you're trying to decide between minstrel and rune master it sounds like you want to heal. minstrel is an OG class and rune master is a DLC class, if that matters at all to you. one plays instruments and shouts, the other throws lightning and fire.>>2367628servers still have lag issues at times. the only way I can see them fixing that is if the game somehow skyrockets in popularity and starts earning serious revenue.
>>2369908Yeah, occasionally the lag will pop up but it's fairly rare nowadays. There's some parts that are just naturally poor performance wise though. Southwest Angmar around the village of Aughaire is the primary example of this. It's almost like the server itself has trouble loading shit for that chunk of the game. Huge delays in landscape LOD updating causing occasional black screens while it loads, enemies not being visible or having animations play, etc.Don't know what it is specifically about it, it's not like it is particularly crowded with stuff like, say, Minas Tirith. I haven't been there yet, but I hear there's occasionally similar issues in Minas Morgul.
>>2369908Runekeepers have been free since many years by now. It is not a DLC class.>>2374248The lag in that specific corner of Angmar has been for quite some time now, at least since 2021. Apparently if you play in low grahic settings it will run faster. It seemingly has to do with that area split into various small chunks that don't cache at all and must constantly get reloaded. If you slowly get to the edge of a chunk, it will load on very low graphics quality and the moment you step in, the screen will turn black
>>2375018Ah, I figured it was something like that.
Oh - something else to consider for someone who's new to playing this:Once you get to Rohan, there's warsteeds and mounted combat. People tend to complain about it but I rather like it. If you've played any amount of Mount & Blade it will feel very familiar in how the horse handles and how you control its speed. What will feel odd is combining it with the tab-targetting combat system.Back when the servers were really bad with lag it could be a nightmare to do - but now that performance more or less behaves itself it is lightyears better.
>>2375018>Runekeepers have been free since many years by now. It is not a DLC class.free DLC is still DLC.
Didn't this game add niggers to all the ethnicities for humans?
>>2376727Black people do exist in Middle Earth, contrary to popular belief
>>2376548RKs came with the moria expansion.
Inscribable celestial shields worth anything or only OS?
I'm playing on Grond (EU), if anyone needs help getting carried through instances or something, reply with ign
>>2378582so what you're saying is, they were not there at the launch of the video game, and instead were added later as downloadable content?
>>2382661Actually back then it was still a box purchase.
You guys are not doing a good job selling me this game. Try maybe being less obvious shills, perhaps?
19-year anniversary event going on for this week.>>2383368it's a boomer MMO, and it's free.if you want an esports MMO, go play wow.if you want a faggot MMO, go play ffxiv or wow.
god this game feels so fucking clunky.and I like Warden but the fucking clunk and jank and lag make it so fucking annoying to play.it just makes me want to play Invoker in DotA again.what other game can I play something like Warden without the shit net code and game code hindering my gameplay?shit like tabbing to another target in combat, pressing an ability, then the game registering that I tabbed to another target, stopping my auto attack, stopping my ability cast, like FUCK?!
>>2383368>ugggggh shills! Why would I ever want to play with a newfag like you?
>>2395733Are you just retarded or something? Have you ever played a tab-target game before?
I'm a LOTRO enthusiast and I'm here to spread the news about a private server for vanilla LOTRO, level 1-50. It would be a great server if the population was higher, right now, it maxes out at 200-300 during prime EU hours. Running low level instances almost always have to be coordinated in a kinship, PUGs are inconsistent. However, you get to experience LOTRO before it became free to play. When LOTRO went f2p, the game increasingly became designed around microtransactions, rather than interesting gameplay mechanics. If there's any interest in playing retail LOTRO as a free account, I would advise to give this private server a try as the many microtransactions embedded into retail LOTRO now is a huge turnoff for me, a longtime player of retail.
Going on LOTRO thesse days depresses me because you can feel the game just being left to rot, and how small amount of revenue they're making. Just enough to keep it alive.
>>2403818They've never made more money than now, you're delusional. Management is pretty shit but boomers buy everything, like the new shit housing, they pay 90euro for a premium house whose only benefit is having more hooks to put irrelevant cosmetic shit in.The main problem is what is also happening in most other places, the devs vibe code and use AI for everything while having little skill or passion.
>>2376727Also trannies.>>2376759LAWD DEM RANGZZZ
>>2404595Oh and not just humans; the elves, dwarves and hobbits got niggers too!
>>2403818I am a new player but it doesn't seem like a dying game and don't they regularly release expansions? Like of course it is a game with just a handful of servers and compared to many other MMOs it has a tiny playerbase but it's not like the game is in maintenance mode
>>2398250>play wow>switch target with tab>auto attack stops immediately if you have the setting enabled>ability casts when you press the button with no delay>play lotro>switch target with tab>if the target is not in combat you stop attacking after 1 second>any ability input during that 1 second is also ignored???
>>2407188people have been disappointed in the last ~3 expansions. maintenance mode is a bit of a stretch but it doesn't have serious development. if you're looking for a competitive raid game you won't find that here.
this game seems to suffer from toxic positivity.I try to look up min-max related stuff, like best race for each class, and it's a bunch of people justifying their rp decisions and flaming people who care about optimization.what server should I play on?
>>2407768I've been playing on Peregrin, the RP servers have people playing music in town sometimes so that's cool. the community is a bunch of 60 year old married fat chicks and ledditors though.
>>2407827>RP servers have people playing music in town sometimesdamn how I miss my band of wandering anon minstrels...
>>2409255I don't know if it's worth it. I do not vibe with these people at all. I may swap to Glamdring or Sting.
>>2409726yea never bothered with lotro rp crowd they're their own world and better leave them untouchedwas just me and the boys we were all anons, rolled on some normal server, everyone made a minstrel and we just went through it all playing music on the wayit was great and moria was utter ludo kino
>>2407827I miss the RP community back in the day. There still is one but its much smaller.
>>2355661I played a beorning and 100%ed everything and quit. Idk what the game is like now.
50% off carry-alls until Sunday, what should I buy anons?
I want to make a new character for my return but I can't pick between Brawler, Champ, and Hunter
>>2375174I stopped right before horse combat whenever I played through a few years back hahaAlso to new friends who are interested in RP: check out server forums because sometimes people host concerts and plays and such during holidays or in general.
SOMEONE SAID TO ME THAT MINSTREL(MY BELOVED) is relegated to being nothing but a dps and hymn bot while r*nekeeper is ACTUAL healer nowwhat GIVES???
>>2403818The game has been going downhill for close to 15 years at this point. Mines of Moria was the last good expansion, since the one after (SoM) added skirmishes which were a disaster. Then epic battles, mounted combat... and in the last several years, ever since Gondor really, black NPCs everywhere. And now, black hobbits, dwarves and elves.
>>2403632>im here to spread the news>doesn't gives a link
>>2446350The server is called Echoes of Angmar, registration has to be done through Discord https://discord.gg/BTGrnVqtNOnce you've got that sorted out, the kinship/guild I'm in, Echoes of Bloodwing, raids at Thursday 7pm EST and Sunday 12pm and is the "biggest" NA kinship around. If those times are good, join the Bloodwing discord for an invite.
