>closed beta testing announced>no threadIf they improve on the HLL model, the game is going to be sick. I'm hoping the maps are gonna force you into squad v squad battles in rivers, villages, tunnels. Supported by river gun boats, small tanks, maybe helicopters. To simulate Vietnam style combat. In contrast to HLL's WWII large battles.
>>2412271Reviews have been positive so far from the Beta testers. U.S. can use helicopters and NVA/VC can chain OP's using a tunnel system to fast travel around the map.Seems all capture points are attackable, and they are adding a casualty ticket system in the way of "Morale".Battlefield Vietnam was my favorite BF game. Flying around in a Huey blasting Flight of the Valkyries or 60s bangers like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrsGz6mQuN4 was peak gaming. I also liked the propaganda loud speakers playing Hanoi Jane or Good Morning Vietnam, they were great. Not to mention, pretty basic but probably the best customization allowing you to put on a bucket hat.Anyways, if they do literally any of these things, I will be happy.

Did anyone get into the beta?
>>2412271Should have been WW2 Japan.
>>2442967Post Scriptum/Swuad 44 did the Pacific theatre, I think they wanted to do something different. Pacific can always come out as a DLC for HLL.
>>2412271Please don't repeat the HLL formula in full, that game wasn't fun at all.>join mid-match>die upon spawning because an entire clan is camping your spawn>new match starts>it reverts to that again 5 min into the game because your side is pub retards vs tryhards>rinse and repeat every game
I've played HLL for a few hundred hours and always found it inferior to Squad/Squad 44 (Post-Scriptum). My main gripe is how easy it is to dismantle outposts and garrisons. I cant tell you the number of times I've walked along a wall only to get the notification "you destroyed an enemy outpost" when I didn't even see one. Garry's can simply be dismantled by holding F on them. Post-Scriptum having separate platoons for Logistics is always something I've appreciated because it lets the autists just build stuff the whole game. 99% of my time as squad lead is just spent trying to find a good outpost location only for it to get destroyed immediately. Squads should be 9 players not 6. Medics are essentially useless because you can just respawn immediately and it doesn't affect your tickets. Games are way too long and the gun physics feel like laserbeams.
>>2412271>RO2 but boringer>now has a sequel that is RS2 but boringerWhy do zoomers have such shit taste in tactical shooters
>>2474873That's most shooters dude. Here's a real one>>join mid-match>run to squad member>Get domed from an unknown location>Rinse and repeatAt least until you figure what you are doing. It's a punishing game to learn.>>2476100I honestly thought HLL was Post-Scriptum. I played Squad in lieu of it, and forgot about it. Heard about HLL a few years ago and assumed it was the same game. Funny that there's two of them I guess. Squad was fun but the jank and hardcore playerbase made it more stressful than it was worth to try and get on. A few crashes, a few squadmate crashouts, a ban from one of the few servers I liked over a bug causing a TK. And I was done. HLL's slightly more casual approach made it easier to jump into and dump hours into for me.Also HLL Vietnam is adding a ticket system. It will have tunnels and helicopters. Also the game is under new ownership. Meaning it should play vastly different from HLL.>>2476171HLL released on consoles too. Weirdly that increases your potential playerbase.RO2 and RS2 were PC only. Not to mention they're dead. Adding RTS elements =/= boringer to most people it would seem. Let's consult the chart.
>>2480309>That's most shooters dudeThat isn't most shooters because most shooters have some spawn protection instead of none. HLL has none because the devs are retarded.
>hop on RS2>one active server>room temp iq vietniggers still try to kill me by shooting the rpg at the wall behind me like it's halo instead of through the cover in front of meI can't wait to run through the jungle with a bunch of retarded third world monkeys again
Game is coming out but might as well hold off for at least a year because it’s going to be a technical and buggy mess.
Release date June 18th.Open Beta dates announced:Start Date/Time: May 29, 10AM BST End Date/Time: June 1, 10AM BST Platform: PC Steam Map: Thanh Hóa BridgeShould be interesting if nothing else. If this craters, hopefully next Battlefield can be a Vietnam remake or something.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH5R4tgGdDk
>>2412458>Battlefield Vietnam was my favorite BF gameMe too anon. That's not an opinion I see shared often. So yeah, I look forward to see if this game hit's the same vibes.

wow, this game runs like dogshit
>>2522707yeah same, I struggling to find the fun
Squeezed a game in on my lunch break. Pretty reminiscent of HLL. Played NVA, the players yelling "Go home GI" at the beginning was funny. We kinda rolled the other team. Really only saw one GI not in a chopper. He was prone crawling around behind our front line. I blasted him and kept going. I climbed on top of a truck and started blasting a chopper. He turned and chopped me up with the blades. Pretty funny. Not as epic feeling as Battlefield Vietnam so far.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KB5fyjfzBA
Man this shit fucking sucksRuns like shitI can't even tell when someone is shooting at me because there's no feedback other than the bandage pop-up
>>2412271it's unironically a piece of dogshit
>>2525535I'm playing on medium settings with a 3060ti on 1440p and barely serviceable frames. I need to get a new gpu
Just played 1 match in asian server.>play as NVA>no one uses the tank or the boat>nobody know how to use the tunnel>everyone just walks to the objective as infantry>most of teammates either speak chinese or muteI know its just starting and people are still experimenting, but damn this sucks.
jesus lol. steam only beta too.
I'm actually having a lot of fun. Instant purchase for me. The redditor saying not to buy it after 1 game sealed it for me. Not really, but I like playing in the jungle. In comparison, HLL WW2 maps where there's no cover for 500 meters and if you move you are going to get sniped suck actually. The new guns feel good, better than anything in HLL WW2. I have been dropping kids. While we're waiting on release, let's learn about MAC-V SOG:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64uuZl4Mb6s
Literally unplayable on my apparently now poverty rig. Shooting and MG in a heli was like watching a slideshow and looking for antsThey need to optimize a lot more. Very weird after so many gushing reviews from the closed beta from shills
>>2532273most of the complains were about optimization and communication
What a shithole game. Booted it up with the old platoon from Rising Storm 2 and we were fully done by the second match.
>>25264425060ti 16GB + 7800x3d on 1080p (CS player)like 65fps average with dips all over the place as soon as things kick off
Thank Christ they delayed the launch
>>2539236I only tried helicopter gunning and was having a rough time of it. The pilot did put us right over the enemy point and there happened to be a lot of trees. I tried shooting at muzzle flashes but IDK if I hit anything. Eventually died after a minute or two.
Me and my noob friend encountering a squad of PSN players for the first time:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIhMoPA96Z0
The whingers won and HLL Vietnam is never coming out. Looked at 83 the successor to Rising Storm since it's on sale for $15. Reviews biggest issue beside it being kind of bland is no one plays, and it's looking grim.
>>2529982kek
>>2476171>boringer Yikes
>>2610641>>2610974It was one map. I played about 6 hours worth. Found it to be more dynamic and fun than a lot of the getting sniped in an open field maps of HLL1. The guns felt good. If you want to play RO2 or whatever go play that. Literally no one is stopping you from reviving that game.
IDK I played the test and I think this game is done and way worse than rising storm 2 vietnam unless the add actually unique mechanics for a vietnam war game. I get it's meant to be HLL in Vietnam but that's literally all it is. Both americans and NVA play basically the same. In rising storm 2 both sides have unqiue strengths and weaknesses. Also in RS2 it's actually possible to spot other people and you can't bush nigger as much.
>>2611731You can ping to your squad in real time, but it fades in a few seconds. You have to tag a location and tell your squad leader to mark it on the map for other squads to see.
this developer sucks ass and i wish they would stop making games. the visual clarity is total garbage just like hll and the best way to actually see shit is playing on the lowest nauseating fov possible just like hll. the guns feel like total ass too, same noodle shooter gun bullshit same as hll where you hit someone in the chest with a 7.92×57mm mauser and they start jumping around like a retard because it didn't kill them because the fucking gun only has 200m range. fuck you and fuck this retarded developer, realistic? meanwhile you can run around with a submachine gun popping heads from 200m like it's fucking nothing. fuck you, these games are for gaymer dad retards who like to camp in one place for 30 minutes like a douche bagi'm so upset that 86' is gonna be trash
>>2614191time to become a skilled FPS gamer and switch to arcadey FPS tactical shooters like CS.
I'll pass
I bought this game recently and I'm trying to understand why the node stuff is even in the game? Unless I misunderstood, there is no benefit to placing the nodes nearer the frontlines or anything like that, you just put them into your HQ and that's it, they will never be destroyed and they are as effective as they would be anywhere else? it just seems like I'm missing something major, this is not even a gameplay element as I understand it, it is just a chore
>>2412458>Reviews have been positive so far from the Beta testers.it was kinda mid desu.performance was shite.thanks Unreal Engine.
>>2716153>there is no benefit to placing the nodes nearer the frontlines or anything like that, yes, there is. garries and outposts near manpower nodes spawn faster, supplies on supports and ammo crates refresh faster when you're near a munitions node. you repair vehicles faster near fuel nodes. pub games suck if you want to play the game properly, cause everyone plays it like it's call of duty.join a clan and try out some clan v clan matches, much better coordination, tactics, strategy. at least it's like that in HLL, I'm guessing it will be the same for HLLV.>>2716744I nejoyed it. Gonna buy the game when it comes out, or the day before so I can get that 10% off. my friends complained about bugs and crashes on Windows 11 with better specs than mine. I played it on Linux and it ran flawlessly.
>>2716153Keeping them in the rear or secluded spots protects them from an enemies finding them and dismantling them. Recon squads in particular will seek out enemy nodes as a secondary objective usually.
>>2716153And to clarify, I think the nodes exist to create a more RTS feel for the commander. If you ever play as a Squad leader, you will hear them requesting them as they passively provide resources passively for different Commander abilities like napalm, spawning tanks, recon flights etc.
Anyone play the new playtest yet?
>>2758340>tfw I place an OP and it lights up red instantly. 3 squadmates spawn and I tell them it's hot. They don't even crouch before running into an enemy machine gunIt's fun. Lots of noobs trying to figure out what to do. One server I joined last night the vehicles kept stuttering. Today I played 3 rounds without any issues though.
>>2762352Forgot pic
>>2758340Played it for a couple mins last night to see if the performance was fixed. It's way better now like almost double the framerate
Just finished a weekend of playing for around ~12 hours. Holy cow I had a good time. I didn't play the first beta as I was out of town but I felt this one really came through. I LOVED flying the helis. Hot dropping squads, transporting supplies, and giving live recon to tanks was a blast. My biggest gripe with HLL (and why I stopped playing) was because the game devolves into a garrison building simulator. Helicopters, tunnels, and boats completely alleviate this. No longer do you have to autistically drive supply trucks where the commander tells you only for them to get destroyed a minute later by an autist crawling the whole map. You can actually focus on combat & squad leading. Great game.>>2412458I played BFV back in the day too & I felt like HLL:V lived up to the hype. Game Warden & Ho Chi Minh trail were my favorites.
>>2518554Fuck man I didn't realize how much that game impacted my music taste...

>>2556000holy shit thats bad
game crashed too much for meI got one lucky match where I did not crashmy crew commander crashed 5 mins into the match so I spend the rest of the match just swapping seats back and fourth solo driving
anyone got a mic and want to squad up EU?
This might be a gay and retarded question, but does the community have any rules about role selection? Like, if I just bought the game to larp with the m60 and suppress gooks am I going to get kicked for taking the MG role as a new guy
>>2836057No unless youre on a hardcore larp server. Your officer might wine in squad chat but most time mg gunners just go whereever
I swear to god, every time I play a game that is cross platform, I'm reminded that there isn't a single console gamer that has an IQ over 70. They all feel the need to hotmic 24/7 and say the most aggressively stupid shit you've ever heard
Deploying the bipod is kinda wonky when prone. Unless youre on perfectly flat terrain, its going to have you either looking into the dirt or up in the sky
>>2836057I think the squad leader butt buddy probably want to play MG so they kick youDon't think too much into it
is this game good or is it jank?
>>2839697Played Betas, and 7 hours on the game so far. It's not jank. Maybe barebones compared to HLL. Missing the helmet variety. I expect they'll roll out more as time goes on.Pros: Games are kinetic, less of a running simulator thanks to tunnel system and boats/choppers.Pro/Con: If you are tank guy, play now while equipping a rocket launcher prevents your grenadier from equipping a gun (at least until he levels up.)Con: If you are on USA, your team needs a helicopter pilot who can coordinate squad drops to get behind enemy lines. NVA can throw a tunnel system together with few resources spent.USA also has 20 round magazines, compared to NVA 30 rounds. And they both start with 4 mags. (I think usa had 6 in Beta)These have been enough to give NVA the edge from what I've seen.
>>2412271let me know if this question has already been asked, but for a rising storm 2 vet am I going to enjoy this or just lament on all the things rising storm did better?
>>2843284the latter
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/esE78T3GzjgInteresting. Was hoping they would be adding attack choppers and traps for the Vietnamese in the future.
Im a new player but ive found that I can accurately predict within the first 10 minutes if my team will win, based only on number and location of garrisons/outposts.
>>2858496yup

I was looking forward to this game for a long time until I played the beta. Sadly it was nowhere near done enough for me to buy it on release.>enemies/teammates have no voicelines at all like RS2>game ran like fucking ASS on my pc despite already playing on 1080p and having pretty good pc. Think of under 60fps during gunfights with DLSS turned onI understand it's not Rising Storm but this game tingles neither my RS autism nor the HLL feel. It was just too barebones.
>>2843284You'll find everything you like about RS2 is missing and this game has little in common other than being set in Vietnam.Your PC will also struggle to run it regardless of how good it is.
I've only ever seen US win once
>>2843284i like this game but sadly its the latter lol
>>2861647US team needs to have the supply helis build the garrys and transport helis are prob the best spawn point for insertion behind enemy lines for Officers and SpecialistsIm always in the US teams and as the supply pilot and a random/friend, we have like 1-2k worth of support points from landing at the back and building garrysBut right now 80% of the US Pilots are being AC130 wannabes when the machine gunner is meant for suppression upon landing
Just refund sadlyi had over 2 hours in this game but I have play entire full match without crashing once so they let me refund it I guess I will buy this game again when its on sales in 2030
