This is just a vintage story thread not hell bent by Dove and the gatekeeping retards. Talk about the game and advertise whatever as long as It's VS.Game News: nothing about 1.23 yet but it's possible it will be a River (and maybe) a combat update. Also as Nat said:A new update has been released for vsmc2, for Windows and Linux! It can be downloaded on GitHub at https://github.com/anegostudios/vsmc2/releases/tag/v0.2.0-alpha I have also started a wiki page to explain how to use the new model creator, as well as some of the important new features. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:VSMC2Please enjoy some of these various screenshot showcases of the program :DRandom VS mod for the thread: https://mods.vintagestory.at/eidolon

No idea what gay drama is going on right now, but this is the first thread that showed up in the catelog. I want to start a new world focused entirely on ruin diving with better ruins. Is it possible to progress entirely off ruin loot (copper tools, flax, limestone, etc)? What would the minimal armor be for permadeath? Gambeson?
>>2474244idk i never played with that much
>>2474244if you don't go caving then gambeson is probably fine
We know anything about what's coming in 1.23 other than the upgraded armor system?
>>2495507RIVERS!!!!!!!!
anyone know of any non austistic servers to play on
>>2495507Supposedly rivers per 1.22's release where they said they didn't quite have them in a place they liked.
>>2465640gonna try out VSMC2 again then
>>2474244idk i found a ruin that was basically like a depression in the ground, it looks like it has cool shit but it also has half a dozen locust nests and they keep respawning so i can't really explore it. whole thing is overrun with those little brass fuckers.also found an abandoned town which was really cool. it's a great mod but the locations with mobs tend to go too hard for me.
how does windpower work? is higher always better? does direction matter? redpill me while i get the structure built.

>>2474244I enter all ruins and even forests with full iron scale armor with shield. FUCK wolves, FUCK bears, FUCK wildlife in general, all of it is kill on sight.
>>2537316as the hunter i move light and swift, like the wind. i need no shield or armor, only my bow, and my spear. i fear no evil.
>>2537326You say that but it's really funny to run into an entire pack of wolves and just stab them all to death while face tanking.
>>2537310>12 sat. Oh my!
>>2537310wait can you just have fires on the walls of your cellars? immersion broken, dogshit game, refunding right as I type this

does the dev plan to have any sort of hireable defenders, just npcs who hang out in your fort, take up archer repositions to repel the drifter troglodyte swarmsI remember minecraft planned to have this back in like fuckin 2011 or some shit and then notch started getting fat and lazy and thinking the nether was cool
>>2537495cellars coldfire hotare we starting to see the issue, anon?
>>2537455400 actually and yeah in winter it's nice to avoid scurvy
why tf do bears keep coming onto my property? i've killed like 3 that wandered in this year.are they attracted to crops or livestock or something?
Well, I've lived here in my temporary pine log shitshack for over 100 irl hours now, but alas, it is finally time to move. Now that I finally have a sailboat built, all I gotta do is finish loading up all my garbage before I can finally find a new location to establish a real, permanent base.
>>2537597They just want to be friends anon
Gotta say, abusing server respawns of the archives has changed how I play this game in a fun way.I've gone from grug farmer to tomb raider, diving in early mornings and pulling out cosmetics, silver/gold, building materials, multiple crates of black coal. The glasses in particular sell very well to other players who have to travel thousands of blocks, could probably charge more than 20rg each since they sell fast. This is my second doublechest full of just wearables. Wonder if the night sky elk medallions are worth as much but they're a lot rarer from my experience.
>>2537932im shocked people just havent decided to evict the monument camper. better restrain your greed for this reason my nigga
>>2537963I'm a fair distance from the archive itself, and its not a huge deal since it auto-respawns and admins will manual respawn for anyone that asks I think. Lately i've been getting less of the first time luck since we finished a stone path highway leading to it, and more people have been visiting now that its not the first week of the server where I got lucky and was one of three people who settled this far north out of ~100
I have 168 iron blooms in my inventory right now
>>2537932Fair haul for pt2 of this. I'm getting confident enough to bring bags with me but I saw a big drigger on the main level in there so I hope that was a fluke with the guy before me pissing off a bell.Found a couple hidden areas, and a ladder leading down into the fuckpit in the center in case I fall for some reason. Haven't walked around it yet because spooky.Might try actually killing all the bronze spider things and explore the commons since they don't seem to hurt that much with armor on.Side question: For purely food-saving reason, is it better to walk 1000 blocks or sprint it? Would the time saved by sprinting offset the increased hunger gain to reach the same distance with less satiety cost?
>>2538387>side questionIdk

>>2539149Hmm.
>>2538387other than gold that looks like a big pile of shit. 2 carrot seeds? bro i can get a full stack just wandering around.
>>2539403Mostly the free gold, lead, zinc, and brass ingot. Also lore book, linen bag, and jonas parts I guess. I had room so I just grabbed everything including the seeds and a free cleaver. If I can keep finding that much gold in the translocator room then i'll be set forever.
i fucking LOVE apples and pears bros
>>2539190get farseer or colorlod
>>2539598Farseer looks cool but the server im on has a whitelist and its probably not on it, though I dont think would be clientside anyway.
>>25375972 more bears on my property, i am convinced they are attracted by something. i just hope they're not killing my livestock. maybe it's the apiary? it's the only thing that's not fenced.the bear hitbox is some bullshit, a lot of the time it seems my arrows just pass right through them. thankfully they're easy to kill, i can kite them to my doorstep and stab them where they can't reach me.
>>2539688get stabbed
Damn this shit is a good puzzle
>after having spent 350 with VIRTUALLY ZERO BLUE CLAYjust went on an expedition to two large deposits of it, which was quite far away from my base. Back and forth a few times, a trip through a useless translocator, whatever whateverI now have over two trunks of blue clayThis should last me for a really long time. Gonna make some amounts of each color bricks and stuffs, but now I need to go out and dig up more redclay to make fireclay. I am NOT using my blue clay for fireclay, nor for skeps or whateverotherbeitSummer flew past me and I'm already in september having not explored the north yet nor gone towards the lazaret, which is somewhat closeby to the west. That's probably my next stop once I make a ton of food and grab some wood to build an outpost there. Dunno what it'll look like, the archives took me a long time to clear out of useless loot, so I expect roughly the same amount of garbage there. I'm hoping against hope to find bauxite on the way there so I can finally enter the steel age. It's the last thing holding me back. I can already make a ton of teir 2 bricks with olivine and such. Just need this damn bauxite. I have been searching on my expeditions everywhere there's other kinds of sedimentary rocks, but I have yet to find any. Sandstone, lime, chert a pleanty. No bauxite in sightI can also upgrade my windmill to large and move the small one over to the water wheel. Might do that next, but I just had a long smiffing sesh this afternoon and am burnt out on that desu
my first winter is so fucking boring, can't go outside because I am a noob who didn't realise you could preserve pelts for fur clothes. Now I am just shivering my ass off while commiting deforestation crimes just so I am warm enough to sleep away the days
>>2541609the classic VS experiencetbf the amount of pelts you need just to make decent clothes is a tall order when you are a fucking cave man. i was still freezing my nuts off with a full set.since i don't chisool in the first year i just sleep as much as possible with the bed right next to a campfire.
>>2541609>>2541678>constant precipitation area snows in your path and now you're perpetually wetnothin personnell
>>2541847you can build fires and shelter under trees but yeah it might not be enough with zero pelts.

Four more iron rods and I can upgrade my windmillI will have two large, one small, and one waterwheelInfinite power.
Three whole vs threads on the board They should just rename this board to /vint/
>>2542856Not my fault baka ass motherfuckers keep making threads when the old ones are weeks away from archiving
When animals are tame enough, can you lead them via a rope to places? I'd like to be able to separate the males and have more control over the population. I dislike walking into my barn and seeing a two dozen chickens all fucking around like retards. Ideally, once they're tame enough, I'd want one set of hens that are separate and just lay unfertile eggs to eat, and another set that has a rooster and continues raising for meat. But it's annoying to corral this bastards

No I’m not playing your dogshit “vision” of vanilla where the player can’t sort their inventory automatically, the only forms of automation are querns and helve hammers, and where you can’t even link two water wheels to each other because they always spin in opposite directions no matter the orientation or water direction. Guess I’m back to waiting for the modniggers to fix their shit, at least one modnigger actually made a very good steel/iron smelting mod that’s 3 multiblocks (soon to be 5).
>>2474244You will occasionally get bronze tools and cracking vessels will let you make your own bronze. Gambeson should be fine if you're careful since some rare larger surface structures can spawn sawblade locusts.
>>2566834that's what happens when you do not have a computer science degree and don't properly encapsulate anything or use nullable so it's borderline impossible to code without something crashing.
i havent played in a whiledid they nerf surface copper or what? why am i struggling to find any
>>2616370maybe

I know this probably isn't the game for it but is there a way to speed up progression a bit? After the tedium of doing clay vessels I think I'm ready to start pushing for copper. I found a bunch of copper bits in areas and am slowly amassing 20 to build a prospecting pick.
>>2627721the tedium is kind of the fun in itselfyou're supposed to find the entire atmosphere cozy and fun the journey itself not the destination
>>2627880I enjoy the tedium to a point, but I'm feeling pretty gated by copper. I've panned for 2 days straight and got 4 copper pieces.
>>2627902if like me you're getting sick of looking at the floor finding copper then i recommend using one of the mods that highlight things https://mods.vintagestory.at/xrayi use this mod because sprinting and running at the floor makes me motion sick and almost vomit but if finding copper is annoying you then you can use thisalternatively learn how to use a prospecting pick
>>2627721Gravel is your friend, my friend.
>>2627721>>2627902>prospecting pick as your first itemDon't fall for this trapMake a pickaxe and hammer first. Just dig under the dirt where you find copper bits on the surface, there will almost always be a sizeable copper vein underneath it.Also why are you panning for copper just run across the world a bit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1wD_ylk9bschat is this based
>>2630275this UNLESS your first stone layer is bauxite, in which case you're fucked LOL
>>2627721>>2627902It gets better once you have metal.
>>2630275i didn't say to make a prospecting pick as his first item loli meant for him to learn prospecting to make finding future copper easier
>>2632250It's not like I'm NOT enjoying myself, I just feel like I'm wandering for copper. I ended up finding 40 bits and then pulled the mold too early and lost it all. I just cheated the completed heads back in because fuck all that.
>caves have 0 innovation or risky metal acquisitionbro wtf ur so gay whoever made this game is fucking gay!dude have you realized taht this guy is fucking a faggot??@!
