https://store.steampowered.com/app/286160/Tabletop_Simulator/

Hosting is as easy as just opening a lobby and getting the game's workshop item. Post your favorite board games, discuss and play with other anons. Find games in the Workshop (https://steamcommunity.com/app/286160/workshop/) and discuss/host your favorite games!

Of course, if you prefer to play board games through other platforms, like Tabletop Playground, Board Game Arena, or game's digital editions, feel free to talk about and find other players here!

>How do I play?
Controls are mostly straightforward and intuitive, but there's always little tips and tricks to learn, more info can be found at https://kb.tabletopsimulator.com/

>How do I join?
That's easy, you click on "Join" in the main menu, search for the lobby name and password that's been posted, and done!

>How do I host?
Click on "Create", and that's basically it. You can find free games in the workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/286160/workshop/

Anyone have an updated save for KDM and Final Girl?
The latter is solo only but it's still the TTS general.
I know KDM is still there but it hasn't been updated for years and this >>>/tg/98140555 is the last save I could get for Final Girl.
>>
>>2535545
The last version of FG I have is Final Girl + Epic Finale S1 Final_Girl_Scripted_v3.8.1 which is just before the DMCA. If they're working on it (they probably are), it's hidden in a private discord probably so the publisher doesn't bitch about it.

Do you have any games or kind of games you particularly like? Or would you rather to be taught something new?
>>
>>2577551
I like competitive games, i never rrally played tabletop games before besides the usual things you play as a kid like monopoly
When i first got tabletop simulator i joined a lobby where the people taught me to play (it was a pirate game) but then when we got in a real match i could tell they all had been playing this particular game for a long time so i lost interest
Honestly i think im gonna pass, i realize tabletop games arent like videogames where we can play a brand new game without spending more time reading the rules than actually playing
>>
>>2577570
There are several games you can learn in less than 5 minutes that have a lot depth and are very fun. Don't be afraid of the teach, I personally found the learning part quite enjoyable.
>>
>>2577570
Depends on the game, if you joined Merchants and Marauders I can see that overwhelming anyone.
Reading the rules or at least a basic rundown of how a turn goes down would be nice, for you and the one teaching, but not 100% needed.

Regarding the component quality, it's flimsy paper money like you would find in Monopoly. It's black printing on colored paper. There is no printing on the back. There are instructions in the rules to hide your stack of money under your shares but the money and shares are different dimensions. The money is longer are narrower so it peeks out when you "hide" it.

i prefer my paper money in stacks
pros
>easeir to handle
>feels heftier in hand
>larger board presence
>who doesn't like the wacky stacks?
cons
>some assembly required
>and the publishers aint gonna assemble it for you
>poker chips are still better for games with high numbers in the bank, which are the only games where money stacks make sense. maybe if you mix coins for low denominations and stacks for 100's and above?

I have a nice set of Iron Clay chips, so I use those.
>>
>>2580475
I was surprised at how thin the Iron Clays are, I thought they'd be more bulky and heavy. I have a bunch of old chips I got from my grandma's house that are nice THICC and heavy, I rarely use them though, I prefer having everything needed to play on the game's box. so I forget to carry the case with the chips alongside them when go somewhere.

Btw guys, what did you think of Nuns on the Run 2e now that we played it a couple more times?
Aside from the inability of being able to run behind a nun's back due to lack of LOS, I kinda liked that it had more moments of tension and people had to take it more slowly because it felt the nuns could get quicker (our first ever 12-round game!)
I think the +1 on Run and Guards being able to hear on the next turn even if they ran are good rule changes that i'll probably house rule back in to 1e next time we play it. There's also a variant on the 2nd edition rulebook that says to disallow double movement on turn 1, wonder how that'd play out lol.

Anyone know how to play root tried playing some at home last night but my group couldn't really get any grasp of it's mechanics

The woodlands alliance & blue birds in particular were real head scratches,so the birds have this thing called "decree" that basically gets rid of all their bases?

Cats start out with the most tokens on the board right?
>>
>>2653212
always a good idea for one person in the group to watch a video how to and read the rule-book especially for more complicated games like root.

birds are like scripting, they snowball able to do lots of different things, but if they cannot complete the script, they go into turmoil and start over. Woodland alliances blow up
>>
>>2653212
WA is simple, it's all right there on their faction sheet
>put cards from hand into supporters stack (its limited to 5 until you have either base or officers, i forget)
>use supporters to place revolt tokens and bases&officers, the card suits have to match the clearing suit
>place bases for more card draw, more actions, and acutal army in play, and also to nuke everthing in the clearing you place in
>train officers for even more action economy
>end game goal: cover the world in support tokens because the 3 card cost ones give the best VP per card ratio

as for birds, the Decree is just their action programming thing. Add 1 or 2 cards to it every start of turn, resolve from left to right in clearings matching the suit of cards you added, though in each stack the actual order doesn't matter, you can go from up to down, from down to up, or in arbitrary order, just complete allcards of one collumn before the next. If you physically can't follow the decree (no warriors to move/battle with, no reserves to deploy, didn't fight hard enough to rule a new clearing to place a new nest in), you Turmoil, ending your turn in the middle of the turn, losing 1 vp per bird suit card in the Decre, discarding all the cards in the Decree, and picking a new leader. Nothing else happens in turmoil, so the bases are all safe, but it still leaves you at a vulnerable position if you didn't anticipate it.

and yes, of all the factions Cats start out with 4 cardboard pieces in play (one of each building, and the Keep). They also start with 1 warrior in most clearings, way more than other factions. This is balanced by the fact they have 0 action economy, with 3 actions per turn and needing to build every round to stay on pace with scoring they have almost no actions left to wage war.

The older rule book for Ricochet Robots explicitly allows a solution with fewer moves than your bid. The newer rule book requires a bid to be a number that could be exact, but uses vaguer wording for verifying a solution. It does seem like the intention is you show an exact solution. We play the no stopping on a barrier edge case according to the new rule book so I think it is appropriate that the solution be exact. In the round where we both called 10 and I showed 9 you should have gotten the point, which ultimately makes you the winner. I also noticed that the old rule book explicitly forbids a u-turn in two sequential moves. You have to "stop" the robot by moving a second robot before the first robot can complete its u-turn. The new rule book has a diagram that seems to demonstrate a u-turn as an option but the text of the rules agrees with the old rule book.

It really is simple
>roll dice at start of round
>on your turn, use dice to do actions related to the color you rolled, like
>>sailing to a spot of that color within your sailing distance
>>picking up or delivering things of/to that color
>>fighting a monster of that color
>>flipping islands outlined in that color
>you can also use any die to get an Oracle (card that acts like a die, can only spend 1 per turn), or to get i forget how many resources that let you cycle die faces (so if you roll all blue but need red, you spend some of that to change a die)
>to win, you need to be the first to complete all 12 Tasks, including finding your three islands, delivering 3 of each kind of pickup and deliver good, and slaying 3 monsters.
theres a few more rules like rewards for killing monsters or finding the opponents' islands, but they are also simple enough.

Generally, most boardgames were made to be understood by players. There's no computer to calculate line of sight, or no referee to umpire and make sure no offside passes happen, it's just the players and the game rules. Do not be afraid to just jump in, most hosts are happy to teach.

It is a 2 player hide and seek game. There are 8 shared characters and 1 of them is the hider's secret identity.
Each round cards for four characters are put in a display and each player activates two of the characters.
At the end of the round the hider tells the seeker which of two buckets their character falls into.

The theme is Jack the Ripper, but my identity was the purple character and I don't know who Sir William Gull is.

I played a test round by myself and it seemed to work fine. As long as you don't do something silly like spawn a million tiles in rapid succession and place companies faster than normal gameplay (this will probably put the Merger alert tile on the wrong spot), it should hopefully work as intended.

When a merger occurs the script should publicly disclose how many shares each player has in the eaten company.
It might be a good idea to remove the sells buttons outside of a relevant merger.
It might also be a good idea to add a trade in button for mergers. Although is was not much hassle to do it manually.
Passing turn around in a merger for shares decisions (and skipping people without any shares) could also be nice.
>>
>>2678943

Ah, the cards were "revealed" in player hands because the backside and frontsides are the same image. I thought TTS was supposed to show a ? for hidden cards, but I guess that's only for tiles. Dumb mistake.
>>
>>2687245
My physical copy has no printing on the back of the stocks.
>>
>>2687245
yes, for cards it usually shows the backside, but there are options to fully hide hand cards for games where you're drawing from multiple decks.

and aren't stock certificates hidden-but-trackable information anyhow? modern games with nonrandom shares embrace the open information, why wouldn't the old game also do that?
>>
>>2687245
Having my tiles obscured by stocks in my hand was kind of annoying. If players have multiple hands zones that accept different tags do objects deal correctly?
>>
>>2687321
I don't intend to hide-hide them, but they were faceup for all to see from what I saw.
>>2687310
I assume you have the GM copy.
>>2687332
I've never tried multiple hands but I'll figure something out. If I add a tag to a hand, TTS doesn't treat it as a hand anymore which is weird (the cards don't show up, and will drop after a few seconds).

Here's the backside for now. Utilitarian so if someone wants to design a prettier backside, go for it.
>>
>>2687321
Losing track of things while they aren't important to you only for them to become important later on is part of the game. Next you'll advocate for open information in Wandering Towers.
>>
>>2687245
That's only if you use the Hide backs feature when importing the deck. In that case it'll use the final image on the deck file as its hidden back
>>
>>2687345
I'm not familiar enough with TTS or Lua to know if this is a a good solution, but it seems to work:

-- in the preface
local MAINHAND_2_OFFHAND = { } -- initialized in onLoad

-- in onLoad
MAINHAND_2_OFFHAND = {
[ getObjectFromGUID( "c87ee7" ) ] = nil, -- todo
[ getObjectFromGUID( "2297d1" ) ] = nil,
[ getObjectFromGUID( "e4d15b" ) ] = nil,

[ getObjectFromGUID( "24432b" ) ] = nil,
[ getObjectFromGUID( "fc251a" ) ] = nil
}

function onObjectEnterZone(zone, object)
if object.hasTag( "stock" ) and MAINHAND_2_OFFHAND[ zone ] ~= nil then
object.setPosition( MAINHAND_2_OFFHAND[ zone ].getPosition() )
end
end

ya done heard correct matey. there you go https://cloud.disroot.org/s/8faxFJqkrFH4xXG

you can be the judge as to if the russian one has better quality or not, maybe its the same.

btw individual files have at the end the amount of copies each requiere. for example 'Img_1_X6.jpg' repeats 6 times.

and there is a pdf to get an idea of front and back for each tile and comprative sizes of all components

If I don't join then I'm either not around, not available, or I'm asleep. Also for some reason, Chance's push notifications aren't working for me, need to get that fixed somehow. I only see lobbies if I happen to check the thread. Tonight is IRL night so I won't be around until 11PM EST either.
>>
>>2702715
I think the successful host gets similar turn out from thread recruitment. I suspect it packs its lobbies using friends list invites. That recruitment method is closed to me because it's kind of gay and I have Steam Friends turned off. Some day I'll turn it back on, but for now I'm still avoiding someone I haven't know for 12 years.
>>
>>2703223
I do use friend lists only as a last resort, after all, playing together for so long ends you making you ga- I mean, friends.

Lately I haven't needed to send invites since anons have joined on their own accord, which has always been my goal ever since I made these threads like 7 years ago, and the way I prefer it to be honest, keeps us grassroots u know what I'm sayin'
>>
>>2702715
Yeah, as someone who had hosted regularly in threads, you need people to get people. That's why when I ran lobbies for other, non-TTS games, I'd always try to get a couple other anons I have added to join in to seed things.

But also as a hostanon, I can say there's just a lot of dice rolling regardless on whether people join, and finding the optimal hours is key. Late EST is definitely always a rough slot. Prime or Early EST (to get Euros potentially) is always better.
>>
>>2702715
I wanted to join yesterday, but I was so tired I just ended up falling asleep. Which is gonna sound weird when I say that for me it is the morning, so it is a bit difficult to join.

Tabletop bros, is there so known popular app/website whatever, that works as a "ledger" for at least simple enough tabletops?
Today I basically made something super simple for counting points and other things in Monster Maker. At least for this game it simplifies a bit end-game calculations or/and at least acting as taking notes of others.
Custom ledgers for other games can be made too.
Right now it is limited to needing either running locally on a single phone (not a normal apk, it is pwa), or if a PC is running a server, somebody can host a game with QR and people can join from their phones through their browser.
It is sharable even like this, but if I make an apk version, then it would be able to host and other people to join a session, again just through their browser. So needing only one person to really install it.
Still has some things to iron out, but it works.
Wonder if this of interest to others, or already something like this exists and I just didn't find it.

Any Euros around for a gaming session?
>>
>>2713253
You can call me an ESL if you want to, I do not even care to proofread.
I am still more pure blooded white European than you will ever be.
So does something like this exist already? I could just not bothering building this further, if it does.
Is something like this even useful (I know it can be for my example game), or not really for most games?
>>
>>2713229
I see an app like this at least once a month on the boardgames sub. In any case, I'm not installing something just to play on TTS. Just use counters or something.
>>
>>2713454
It is was not intended for TTS. I used it irl.
If such apps/websites exist, can you point me to any of them, because I am failing to find something workable. Or at they just game specific usually? I mostly only found MtG stuff.
I am obviously a newbie, I am not pretending otherwise.
Maybe pen and paper could do the trick just fine, but it does require some setting up. With this I just need to set it up once. Then again, I am not so sure I will get the chance to use it again soon.
