You now own a mediocre ship at tier 8, congrats.

For the 5 people who still play this game, if you download, install and log into WoT: HEAT you get some decent rewards on WoWS. You dont even need to play a game and you can uninstall after.

I'm half tempted to trade a coal ship for a "free" Mainz, just not sure if it's worth the 180k~ coal at coupon discount price to collect another T8 premium that I may or may not play
>>
How is the F2P experience nowadays on WoWs? I'm sick and tired of WoT and their antics so im skeptical to jump in another Wargaming game. I've tried it before and felt like the +-2 MM is even worse in WoWs, or you just get blasted by premiums since the only people left playing are veterans
>>
>>2606157
It varies a lot
MM is bad in fucking general with a ton of stupid bullshit, and there are plenty of very egregious P2W ships and Admiral Packs/Wishing Wharfs, but the WoWS team has been generous enough giving out free premiums and other incentives to actually play and with Asym being extended because the entire community demanded it (I filled in the survey and literally said "If you remove Asyms I will stop playing the game entirely") you can sorta just ignore the broken PvP queues and farm bots for okay rewards
They nerfed it a chunk so it's not nearly as good for grinding out ships/credits but it's still better than co-op and makes dockyards bearable
>>
I know this thread is kinda dead but it's so weird that decals are limited to T9 ships
T10 is the actual penultimate tier everyone is grinding towards/playing so I figured it'd start out as a T10 thing and move down the tiers until ships from T6 to T10 (+Superships) could use decals
I guess I have a good amount of T9 premiums that I can play and apply decals to (or just save them until they add other ships) but like how many people are saving T9 tech tree ships to play that that's the tier they chose for decals?

It'd be kinda stupid on the really low tier cruisers and nobody really plays anything below T6 these days anyways

I'm kinda split about the new support CV tools, I think the firefighting one is kinda neat if a bit obnoxious for ships that rely on firestarting (you bait out his DCP, get a juicy triple fire, and then the CV cucks you by dropping water on him) but I'm not really sure how I feel about the CV being able to drop a free heal on someone you're fighting
We'll see how they balance them but the article says "they may rarely be shot down" but I think they should give the planes an absurdly low HP of like 200 and if you try to support a teammate who is brawling within AA range of an enemy ship your heal/damagecon just gets instantly shot down to preserve some tiny amount of fairness
I also kinda hope the firefighting one has to be called in like a dutch airstrike so it has a long lag time and doesn't negate all of your fire damage, just enough to be useful and maybe save the guy from burning down so he can cycle his heal

Man, I know these threads have always been dead but I'm surprised that there's basically nobody left.
I figured we'd at least get some discussion around the Holiday Convoy, Kitakami is pretty stupid and New Jersey is going to take a lot of work to earn but for minimal effort you can pick up a T10 reward ship or two decent T9 premiums if you're a newer player and need premiums.
For a bit of coal investment you could be grabbing two T10 reward ships and if you're willing to grind hard for half a year for a mere 12k RB/6k steel you can get the 420k tokens to get all three new T10 reward ships.
I'm probably going to grind + coal New Jersey for 400k but getting 3x T10 reward ships is pretty sweet even if it's a bit more grind than GQ Johnny was and wipes out a big chunk of your coal stockpile (as if coal matters that much)
>>
>>2820464
They shat on the game too much. I came back and played last year for all the free shit but I couldn't be fucked staying when they can't fix randoms or make good events. They aren't giving out shit this year in comparison either.

>>
I'm really curious to see what PQ has to say about the 20 de Julio
On one hand it has no fucking tools (smoke, hydro, etc)
But on the other it has a pretty strong heal and it does like 444k AP DPM with improved pen angles thanks to the on-demand MBRB (has basically no minimum activation time or cooldown) and the auto-activated funny button that further buffs the AP alpha damage so it'll do something retarded like 500k AP DPM and literally melt you within 5 seconds if it catches you not pure bow/stern in (and it has decent enough conceal to do that)

>IX Respublika

>Main Battery maximum range increased: 17.6 to 18.9km

>Casemate side plating armor increased: 32 to 40mm

>Combat instructions parameter of effect changed:

>Consumable preparation and cooldown time bonus increased: -90% to -95%

>Repair Party consumable replaced with Heavy Repair Teams with the following parameters:

>HP per second: +379.

>Duration time - 60 s.

>Reload time - 120 s.

>Charges - 4.

I know I'm probably just screaming into the void but lmao they're actually making a demented Soviet Valparaiso turbo brawler
Soviet superstructure (or rather, lack of), demented soviet armor profile where the ship is only vulnerable if it goes flat broadside and exposes the citadel (Valp has a huge cit too and we see how little that holds it back)
Then you have combat instructions that nearly instantly replenish your superheal (and add +25% AP damage to your salvo, as if you needed more) on a heal that isn't even on a retarded cooldown like Pan-American cruisers suffer from so it's not like you suffer if you lose progress on your CI.
You also get 10 (TEN) 406s on a THIRTY SECOND reload (contemporary Soviet BBs like Soyuz have 33s on 9 406s)
This is definitely going to be a Steel Will ship, I was originally going to spend a good chunk of my steel + RB points to get Letouche on top of New Jersey, but maybe I need to save my steel if they're going to release something this demented

I'm comparing it to the Soyuz and just fucking laughing
It has less HP, 13k less base HP which means it ONLY has as much HP as a Lepanto or an Alsace
You know, regular BB HP range of 74-78k (it has 75,900 to be precise)
Compared to Soyuz, it is;
>3kn faster with a slightly tighter turning radius/rudder shift
>has a 30s reload on 10 guns with 1.9 sigma vs 33s x9 at 1.7 (same close range dispersion pattern)
>AP shell pen and flight time is somewhat worse, USN BB levels but this is kind of a nitpick on a close range superheal brawler that cycles heals basically on CD and can fight you at ranges that shell travel time hardly matters
>HE travel time isn't that much worse for when you swap to HE to try to hit DDs
>secondaries are arguably better, same range and no special accuracy so you won't build in to them but significantly higher Fires/min when you're brawling which is what matters in this comparison
>standard damage con but your funny button cycles it as fast or faster than limited charge DCP, so arguably way better
>4 superheals to the 3 regular heals that Soyuz gets
Like legitimately this ship sacrifices a chunk of HP, a bit of conceal (not that Soyuz is even remotely stealthy) and arguably some AP performance in exchange for being way better in every other way that matters
That said I've never considered the Soyuz even remotely fucking good and while Respublika looks retarded I think it's kind of a damning indictment of the state of the game that WG has said "This is what a T9 brawling BB needs to be competitive in the current meta" because it originally had a regular heal but clearly trying to push in and brawl with a regular heal on a Valparaiso cycle is actually NOT enough to deal with the premiums WG has been releasing and it NEEDED a superheal

>>
>>2881246
I've said this before and clearly BaBBies have a different idea and think they should get to cap contest with radar a minute into the match but BB radar should not be an instant-win tool that can be used to aggressively zone out DDs, radar cruisers and CV spotting is already bad enough.
Radar on a BB should be a defensive tool so that lategame when it's just you against a DD you have a way to fight back and actually win the match instead of getting stealth-torped for five minutes straight until you die. The radar change finally enforces that, no more BBs pushing up to an island/into a cap and radaring the DD in the first few minutes of the fucking match
>they can't do that
Nigger Thor goes like 50kts they absolutely can. Borodino has a 12km radar, not that anyone plays it, so it doesn't even need to be near the cap.
Regardless of how much real world impact this has it's absolutely a reasonable change. If you think that radar BBs aren't pushing up to caps and influencing the match unfairly then it's a nothingburger change so why even have a problem with it?
Next step would be to change CV spotting to minimap, even if it's somehow just for the first 270s of the match too, so that the CV can't insta-spot shit too. Of course they won't fix THAT problem but we take what we can get and BB radar prep is a good change that I was hoping for when I saw Pioneer but wasn't actually expecting them to implement.

>>2883252
Cleveland has always been a menace, it has the highest DPM of any T8 cruiser. I struggle to think of any time in the game the Cleveland hasn't been busted, whether it was at T6 or T8. Now it has Montpelier DPM, which should hopefully rein it in a little. Your sidegrade is you have 360 turrets while Montpelier is more accurate, Cleveland is still probably going to be too strong
Seattle needed better firing angles rather than more DPM
>>
>>2884286

lol, lmao even
nothing is stopping you(r) team from killing the Minotaur or Worcester who has overextended to radar you
the battleship gets to do this basically for free and by the time he's dead you've lost map control for the entire flank
it's a good change and you can whine about it all you want, but if you want early game radar influence play a squishy cruiser and work for it
Battleships shouldn't even have radar, you have enough crutches as it is
>>
if you lose a flank in the duration of a missery radar (with + mods) your team never had a chance in the first place

I have enough free xp and credits for almost any t11 except russian ones.

Have hannover, Maine, annapolis researched but not bought, could free xp to claus, devastation, Patrie, yama, Seki, Satsuma(kinda want it for YUGE GUNS, but have never played the IJN bb line past Naga)

But I dont really know which of these are any good and dont wanna spend ~50mil and 600k free xp on a lemon, which I know some of these are.

any suggestions? obviously being t11 they are just for clowning around and losing money in randoms.

Genuinely what the fuck is the point of the Pan American cruiser line
mind boggingly dogshit line
let's put a superheal on a ship line that explodes if anything looks at it funny, surely that healing will be super useful when the ship is a floating citadel devstrike pinata
also lets make it AP only but give it garbage unusable AP that is completely fucking useless against BBs/DDs so the only possible niche the ship has is fighting against HE spamming cruisers that are willing to give broadside
>>

Radar BBs go 95% DD speed my man. It is very easy to rush the cap in Mo, Thor or Constellation and get there 30s after the DD.
>>
>>2884601
If you haven't noticed this game has always favored DDs. Anytime anything inconveniences them they get buffed.

>AP kills us :(
Removed DD citadels
>AP still kills us!
Big calibre AP does 10% damage to DD
>BB dodge our torpedoes!
Nerf all BB rudder shit and turn distance
>Rocket plane hurt me!
Nerf rocket planes into the ground, only some CVs can touch DDs now, assuming they have the right flavor of dive bombers.

This is of course on top of DDs have the best torps, speed and concealment, which means the only way to die is if you're an actual fucking retard. Every single ranked season playing DD is the easiest, fastest way to rank up for a reason.
>>
>>2894626
>Nerf all BB rudder shit and turn distance
that's why half the BBs in this game still turn tighter than cruisers, another half have hydro so they have to be retarded to eat torps, and WG is now introducing BBs with a consumable that you press when the torps are spotted and it gives you a forcefield that absorbs them
>muh heckin tiny tims
CV spotting still instagibs 90% of DDs, he doesn't need to attack you just hover you until you waste your smoke or die
>>
>>2894968
You don't need to exaggerate how many BBs have consumables they shouldn't and that doesn't change the fact that DDs are and always have been the strongest class. Here I'll add another one, cruisers are supposed to counter destroyers but frequently just get smashed by a torp wall just like BBs. They should probably make 75% of DDs have DWT, but that will never come up as it is a nerf to DD. And it's all HE rockets, not just tims. About the only rocket planes that can hurt DDs now are russians. I suspect you're a DD main as only they make the retarded argument that a CV is going to waste his time parking on top of them. They buffed all DD AA years ago so you WILL kill planes unless you're a jaeger or something else pre-ww2 meme tier.
>>
>>2897356
>every DD should be Asashio and completely helpless against cruisers
demented take
if you're eating enough torps to get devstruck as a cruiser I regret to inform you that it's a skill issue, although you definitely sound like a straight liner that gets mad as fuck when you get white lined by a DD
>waste his time
How is getting the DD killed for barely any planes lost a waste of time? No DDs have AA, not even shit like Halland will effectively stop a CV from hovering them for very little cost and they nerf AA globally every patch to make it worse
>unless you're a Jager
like 80% of DDs have fuckall AA
>>
>>2897901
See, DD main confirmed. Never satisfied with being just rock in RPS, gotta be strong against everything, always.
>>
>>2899785
are we going to pretend BBs suffer or that your "rock paper scissors" matters when CVs break that dynamic wide open
also by that logic do you have a problem with cruisers like Jinan or Svea that can deal with DDs relatively easily and have the conceal+torps+smoke to farm BBs without much concern?
>>
>Rodina is a "Soviet Montana" like people were saying
I mean, it's probably pretty healthy for the game unlike 90% of shit added but at 140,000 Convoy Points I just cannot see the purpose of it
I'd love to see a CC play it and hear their opinions on it but unless it's a sleeper build that the dev blog stats aren't revealing I cannot imagine why you'd want to buy it when the same convoy points could buy a much more interesting ship like Prins van Oranje, Georg Hoffman, Latouche-Treville or even Togasa
>>
>>2567585
Why did you do it nigga
>>
Genuinely debating if it's worth the 4500 dubs to get Marlborough B (I don't have the OG Marlborough)
On one hand it'll probably just sit in my port and never get played, but it'll be cool to have for collection's sake as a port queen and it'll provide value as a T9 ship every time an event like anniversary/snowflakes rolls around
On the other hand it's 4500 doubloons; it's not a LOT for a T9 ship but it's also real money and like two premium battlepasses worth of resources
>>
>>2884286
>Next step would be to change CV spotting to minimap
They'll never do this because you could create a mod that shows the silhouette of the ship based on the minimap information given to the player client.
Of course you wouldn't be able to get a lock-on but you'd still be able to fire at it and lead it correctly.
They simply need to completely turn off plane spotting for attacking aircraft and give CVs the ability to use spotter planes that can do nothing but spot. CV players then have the choice of either griefing with spotting or griefing with DPS. And because most carrier players are obsessed with their meaningless CV PR, they will go for attacks more than spotting, giving the classes dependent on stealth much better counterplay.
They'll never do this though. CVs are designed to be broken. And they'll never be nerfed.
>>
>>2894626
>Nerf all BB rudder shit and turn distance
Do you even play the game?
BBs go 40kts and turn tighter than some DDs.
>planes
If you strike a DD, you are a retarded player. You hover them because they don't have the AA to shoot down your planes until your team murders him. That's all there is to the DD-CV interaction.
>>
>>2931975
>Genuinely debating if it's worth the 4500 dubs to get Marlborough B (I don't have the OG Marlborough)
It's not. Save your doubloons for something worthwhile.
>>
>>2932157
>CVs are designed to be broken
What is the reason behind this?
>>
>>2932172
Money. And sunk cost fallacy on the part of WG. They have confirmed that the CV rework was to ensure that a certain percentage of the playerbase is CV players. And the best way to ensure people will pick the class is to make it broken.
WG has dumped so many resources into CVs that they need to see some kind of return on that investment.
>>
>>2932223
>They have confirmed that the CV rework was to ensure that a certain percentage of the playerbase is CV players. And the best way to ensure people will pick the class is to make it broken.
That's... Where can I watch or read this?
>>
>>2932235
Look up interviews of Wargaming during the CC summits on the channel of former Community Creators.
This is widely known, how has this passed you by?
It's still baffling to me how ignorant the playerbase actually is. I thought it was public knowledge that WG is deliberately fucking over the average player's experience to make sure they can report numbers that will placate the middle management.
>>

You could do this for stuff like cyclones already but nobody does because WG would 100% ban your account if they detect this mod
>>
>>2932298
It was available in April of this year? I think it was pretty expensive as part of the Golden Week shit.
It's a "Rare" ship though so, 15.3 release... 16.5 summer festival from WG's roadmap?
I don't imagine it'll be cheap unless WG tosses it into an event at some point.
>>
>>2932398
I hope. I have an addiction to panzerschiffe, supercruisers, and battlecrusiers. The only dockyard ship I own is the Niord because it fit how I play. I've got basically every other ship but the Regele Carol I and I was waiting for an UP 102 or UP 90 to be added to the game and didn't get any notifications for it in April so I'm kinda pissed.
>>
>>2932779
They tucked it in with Shigure and some other stuff, it was like $200 for the full bundle or like $100~ for the Regele alone? I don't remember the price for each individual currency.
>supercruisers
Holiday convoy might be alright for you - you can grab Latouche-Tréville for free, and Van Oranje if you consider that a large enough cruiser
If you don't have Bismarck '41 you can also grab that for cheap.
There's 195k tokens up for coal and 200k~ for playing daily, so you could get all three if you have a good stockpile of coal and are willing to play or you could play semi-casually and spend a handful of coal and get Latouche (and/or Bismarck)

Van Oranje might be neat, haven't seen Latouche. Mostly been playing Schill, Niord, and Agir that I bought during my last bout with the game.

Speaking of supercruisers and battlecrusiers- what's up with WG's rather schizo classification of them? Sometimes they seem to be put under battleship, and other times under cruiser.

Points are from ships you own, so the more you have in your port the more points you get
That said if you have to even ask you probably have not been playing long enough to accumulate the massive glut of ships required to hit 11k tokens

Depends on which side of the line it sorta falls on and how much it'll influence the match; if it's classified as a battleship it takes up a BB slot and matches against a BB
Generally a battlecruiser/supercruiser under a cruiser slot is way better value for your team but some of them would be way too broken replacing a regular squishy cruiser. Stalingrad was a good example when it released - insanely tanky with powerful guns, basically a pocket battleship, but it occupies a cruiser slot and got matched against stuff like Zao or Hinden.
Obviously in the current meta Stalingrad isn't quite as dominant but that's the logic behind it.

What's the Togasa's gimmick?

Jesus fucking Christ, the game is unplayable with all these stutters happening every few minutes.

Damn what is this? Do you need to pop it before launching the torps? When I tried it after the CD already started it didn't seem to work.
