Block weapons have a narrow activation period closer to the impact of an enemy's attack. The idea is to stack perfect blocks to 2 so that your next attack gets a stunning explosive effect. Fencing is so much more generous in its reach, timing and gunstrike procs that it's hard to recommend most block weapons over their fencing equivalents.
Notice how I said most, because weapons like the power axe can make a single block work to decent effect and two blocks work to massive effect with much, much better damage overall than the fencing equivalent and critically doesn't rely on gunstrikes to function. But in the case of something like a power sword or knife, the speed and other fencing properties make much more of a difference.
That difference makes itself most obvious when getting swarmed by gaunts or multiple majoris variants at once all attacking you at different intervals. Fencing will likely catch all the attacks and reset the enemy group with a gunstrike, but block will likely miss most of the attacks and leave you in a much more vulnerable position.

I wouldn't fuck with the power gladius unless I could use it with my jump dash built assault. Perfect dodges feel too unreliable unless you're doing them with jump pack dashes after upgrading them to perfect dodge. Even then, I'll still get robbed multiple times an op.
The jump pack + how much better your perfect dodging is with it makes up a lot for balanced melee weapons having shitty parries too. I don't really want to use balanced weapons at all unless it's with assault.

Unironically how I prefer to play Bulwark. You've got access to the best secondaries in the game and perks that actually let you use them about as efficiently as primaries and all of your best melee perks work by becoming a walking death zone off of parrying anyway so the "best" melee setups are liable to just get you killed because you can't move as freely as assault.

Like, between Ammo HBP, Ammo Volkite, and Fire Rate Plas you shouldn't have too much issue killing things with your guns and staying alive.

The underlying issue with SM2 is that there's zero to do when you max out your weapons and currencies. They have an inkling of a good idea with ordeals but they implement them in their typical retarded russian-depression way. There should be gear/skins and variants of those released as in-game challenge/activity each week (or as a bi-weekly event). Going that route you'd satisfy both vets and people who don't spend so much time in the game. It boggles the mind they can't be arsed to take people off that shovelware they're developing all the time and have them make small additional content. Crazy idea I guess.

Depends on your definition. If it's grinding out progression towards unlocks and max levels, that's your problem.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be more content, or more content released more often, but you CAN just play the game for the sake of playing it. You can just decide to try absolute carries. Sometimes there's fun dailies or even weeklies.
You can play custom strats with friends and turn on like 12 different modifiers so long as they don't conflict. They even still count towards the capegrind.

I forgot to check the atonement once, and it was squad unity. Started dying for the first time in 10 waves. Kept my wave 1 med kits through all 10 waves too until squad unity. Had enough points to swap it to something else almost three times over.

Bonds of Brotherhood gets removed in favour of a semi-permanent Iron Halo perk that removes any kind of weapon cooldown/venting and increases its rate of fire, accuracy, projectile speed and range

I'm sorry do you not...fight....the enemy in sieges? Even when doing the missions rarely can you just ignore the enemy because they spawn right in front of whatever you need to go to. You often have to fight your way through. You have guys covering you while you interact with things and go back to shooting your way

What am I meant to be shooting at exactly? Anon, the objectives it often expects me to do are outside of where the enemies are currently spawning. Hence why I, and another anon, have said they're boring. And one of the issues is them having you hold a position or run carry-this-shit errands. They are the easiest thing to implement for Saber apparently. And MAYBE if they were worth a damn, you could argue for their existence in their current formula. But it's quite the opposite.

And lictors don't just gank you on principle if you fuck off doing an objective, maybe if there are too many this could happen but it's more of a skill issue and not killing quick enough.

Spaming techpriests and turrets might work on 1-15, but past that even full guardsmen regiments really aren't performing enough to get to higher waves. Which means unless you have a player on each and every techpriest you're getting a hit to your economy and eventually your run. We could try valtus, but he's overpriced, under present, and is prone to glitches. I wish there was some way to keep up with the horde, but by 17-19 ish there is nothing you can field that can hold against the horde and you start to waste resources. That's the real problem with siege

Yeah, that's exactly why people bitch about Balance. And I'm no exception. The extra damage and cleave looks appealing on paper because this IS a horde shooter but in practice I think the only Balance weapons worth taking at all are the Power Fist because you can pro-actively charge at a Majoris group and all that damage won't get cucked by the minoris in the way, and the Power Gladius specifically on Sniper just because you can cut a Terminus in half with the optimal damage setup, it eats Carnifexes and the Hive Tyrant for breakfast.

Otherwise there legitimately is too many downsides to Balance weapons to justify their use.

I'm not a huge fan of the power swords so I can't speak for the Xenophase, but it has giga cleave so I can see a use case for it. Not only does it narratively free up having different Chapters coming together, it also removes any and all barriers to older armor types and custom stylings. Let people choose from multiple voices loosely based on the loyalist legions, and avoid having them involved in overly specific mission dialogue. Basically just copy Darktide's rules for VA. This means new missions being added doesn't require bringing back every single VA.

Used to be, they've gotten a lot better as time's went on. For Skitarii, the stuff that's like X seconds after Y hit is almost exclusively toughness/ability regen, so it's stuff that has to be timed anyway. Damage buffs have become a lot more directly controlled in their conditions so it's usually "do more damage after you killed a fucker for X seconds" which just loops over and over, and it's much easier to proc compared to the weapons in SM2 that have this perk because shit is made of tissue in Darktide.

It's not perfect for sure, but when you add enough options and decision-making to that setup it does make for an interesting experience. Like putting aside the hyperbole, while there is a lot of "gain X bonus after Y for Z seconds", you find ways of putting them together to either support breakpoints or to trigger off the same actions or cover weaknesses and you work out a build. There's enough variation and limits that you can't easily work out an optimal build and that you can create slightly suboptimal alternative builds that are still good enough to play.
Meanwhile SM2 is much simpler, and then has a bunch of perks that are just entirely useless on top. It's too easy to just quickly know exactly what the best option in a slot is and if you can't it's probably because all three perks are so useless that it doesn't really matter.
It sure does suck to compare, especially when DT used to have the same boring system and then reworked it (a feat that I doubt SM2's devs can or will even try to pull off).

An obvious problem with this game is that the developers clearly haven't PLAYED a BamHam, Shadows of Mordor, or Insomniac Spider-Man game despite the fact they're trying to ape those mechanics.

Enemies will never ever multi-attack you in those games the way they do in this. They always attack with one big heavy strike, and alternate these attacks between one another, almost like a rhythm game where it's dodge, attack, attack, dodge, parry, counter, attack, attack etc. and half the fun is keeping the chain going for as long as possible without being hit. Ranged enemies also can't shoot you through the crowds, ranged enemies are always abysmal in melee combat and slow instead of constantly evading.

Ok, look, I'm not saying there aren't any issues. But the training area is not the way to highlight them. There shouldn't be cover penetration, there should be more cover available, ranged enemies shouldn't just keep spamming ranged in CQC, and yes, enemies shouldn't just be able to fire through their own ranks without doing friendly fire. On release, when a boss spawned in Ops, it would never be accompanied with a wave of enemies, never. This is a post-release balance change that was never accounted for with the token system. I'll put it this way, the bosses aren't even considered within the token system, and attack regardless of if three enemies are already attacking you or not.

You breeze through Absolute right up until the moment something out of your control just decides to fuck you. One of the worst offenders that continues to exist is being staggered against a wall, which has a recovery window that may as well be measured in aeons. This game and difficulty is a fucked situation.
They've locked themselves out of higher numbers of enemies because of performance limitations of consoles (and PCs that are more than a few years old), but I don't think it would really do much at this point if they could because the extra enemies will mostly stare and do nothing.
The devs like to increase the individual enemy power in favour of the enemy but we're already way past the point of slapping rocks with wet noodles while we ourselves get deleted in two hits.
They COULD try to add more challenging movesets but that's easier said than done, and we've seen the results of their attempts (chaos spawn that are fine individually but overwhelm in numbers due to design flaws). The devs are either not able to or unwilling to add fair but difficult attack patterns.
So the end result is a game that, 99% of the time, is easy and memorized combat, but then every now and then you get hit with one of the many combos that just kill you no save (e.g. carnifex and an extremis forcing you against a wall and then attacking you faster than you can stop them, soulreapers fucking you while you're busy making a horde back off, a neurothrope putting you in an undodgeable situation as soon as any given attack coincindes with one of its blasts in the wrong way, (computer) bugs eating your attempts to fight back, and many more).
The game would need a complete rework to truly challenge its best players in a fair way. Until then, RNG is the only thing that can truly fuck you, and increasing or decreasing the frequency with which that happens will only affect how frustrated the players are and not how skilled they have to be.
This is also why cheese strategies are the only ones that truly affect your winrate much. Fix all the BS stuff and I'll (albeit very slowly) clear absolute runs with a rusty fencing spoon and a throwing rock; until then though, weird nonsense strats that bypass the usual combat system sound fair to me.

That could very well have been the case. I mean visually SM2 looks fantastic, which is even more tangible if you load up 4K texture pack they released. Everything looks crisp. Even a lot of execution animations are meaty and satisfying (disk niggers in particular are cathartic execute).
But there's way too many particles that put a strain even on beefiest of systems. Like you said, the tech debt is palpable once you push the engine. And as horde shooters go, you don't want that.

The noobtrap goes in that the infantry and bikes go for a lot of points, but until this year, the reliance on Forge World models designed for 30k leaves players with only Land Raiders and Astartes Contemptors, both of who have loadouts that work fine but still aren't even allowed to use a fraction of the options their kits offer. Sisters of Silence are anemic and overall character variety in the army is ass, but that's true in both games and presumably already paying the price of having everyone already be TEQ+.

Earlier this year, most of the good shit is now in plastic, so it alleviates having to deal with resin and of course Forge World. But I wouldn't put a lot of confidence in their future if mostly because current GW also wants more strict segregation with game systems and model ranges. And if all of the 30k stuff is Legendsâ„¢ while 40k doesn't push out equivalent replacements, then Custodes in the latter might as well be a footnote in Imperial Agents. Granted, I wouldn't wish that on anyone; what a waste of potential that idea was and it even nearly killed the fucking Deathwatch! On the other hand, this also might be what some people want since their presence on the tabletop is constantly questioned.

Ultimately, it's playing the one guy who thinks himself clever in trying to save money on GW plastic, dodging Primaris, or whatever, when he'd be happier collecting an army that's been around for much longer than a niche one if he does get into it.

This is how I build my las. You should be cloaking to initiate and mostly aim ranged warriors / CSM since melee warriors have higher resist. This is fire rate btw, which lets you mow down priority targets fast. I also use ammo HBP, which is what you want to refill ammo and still deals decent damage up close. You obviously want to use las all the time (eg up close) but you need to conserve ammo when extremis spawns.
Minoris, throw a frag and cloak or spam heavy attacks.
Carni/Helbrute you want to aim their heads if you can/have ammo, else parry spam or shadowstep with the knife.
