I even do it for girls without those skills innately, I'll buy at least two double circle versions of those skills to make it more likely to get the other two. It's a bit more expensive, but I prefer to make my runs as consistent as I can.

The last case where buying skills early is important is someone like XOguri or SMaru where you need related skill to turn on their unique, which is also a major boost even if it's not firing in the perfect spot most races.Midrace skills on a front are fine, if probably unneeded, but can be detrimental on anyone else because if they proc early, you're almost certainly going to eat a PDM after they push you up since the fronts are dogshit compared to your monster of an uma, and being at the back of the style pack is a major contributer to getting brocked, and your uma is going to be winning the midrace purely on the back of your wit being way higher anyway without needing skills, much less your unique.I'd suggest watching your uma's replay a couple of times when you lose during MANT and you'll almost always see one of these scenarios and how little buying a bunch of skills would have changed things.
