The DX11 update for payday 2 got me interested in the series again. Never gave PD3 a chance because shit around it was so negative, but looking at reviews, most of the complaints are about it not being massively bloated like PD2, which is what turned me off from PD2 in the first place (I liked PD:TH more, was super hyped for PD2 prelaunch, got more and more turned off as it became more and more bloated). Is 3 worth trying if I'm coming from that perspective?

I bought PD2 recently and I'm wondering why have I missed this game completely during all these decades.. Anyways there's two things:
>pd2 is still fun and obviously clean looking enough to not be an issue
>publishers more than doubled the price of legacy dlc collection just two months before the steam sale - now even with a "discount" its price is way higher than the original undiscounted price
>reading about pd3 more, it was a cash grab attempt too
All things considered I have personally made my mind bases on my findings:
>devs and the publisher are scumbags, don't give them any money
>pd3 split the playerbase on purpose and even now it's clear that you should stick with pd2 (just don't buy any dlc because as I said, these guys are scumbags).
This is how I'm seeing it. If you want to play similar vidya, Rockay City is probably something. It's like two bucks too.
Otherwise, it's PD2.

What I mean is that I was interested in PD3 just like you OP but I refuse to support their practices. It's not about money per se, but about a principle.

The problem with 3 isnt content bloat the problem with 3 is that its lacking literally any and all of the polish, soul and details that made 2 fun. Killing cops doesnt feel good, everything is overanimated, objectives are boring and maps were designed to recycle the same damn objectives all the time, assets barely change anything, the rng for when you start a heist is next to non-existent and the enemies are somehow even more braindead in this game than they are in 2, and they arent working on a 20 year old racing game engine, so they have no excuse for the game being this half assed and poorly put together.
Also they still havent fixed many game crash states so you can still try to look for a game and you will get disconnected for no reason because they never fixed the servers properly from the launch fiasco.
