Same low energy discussions as spectrum, time and and time again. >griefing>piracy>cargo spaceSoftest playerbase imaginable for a space combat game.>inb4 it's not space combat game, it's a life simulator Fuck off. You'll get your wish though, because CIG is so fucking incompetent and they're destroying dogfighting via UI and "balance" decisions.

>>2690859I've honestly been playing more now, than ever. Whilst the game is in an extremely bad state, there's surprisingly a lot of engaging content to get into. Some gameloops and ships are cursed and will only lead to frustration. Avoiding these cursed meta hazards keeps you away from bugs/crashes.
>>2691177Bro this is a running thread
>>2691221Too real >>2691394There's a ton to do, but it's the lamest, most non-engaging PvE content created in the last decade. Ships don't fly and mobs run in place, all with an average server tickrate of like 10fps. Shit is bad.>>2691366Where's the vitriol list?

I got the chance on using the Tiburon turrets. We were fully crewed and that thing just shreds. Also, I feel like the turrets are better than the Perseus not damage wise but how smooth it is and better firing arcs

>>2693087I'm gonna be honest with you. Murder-hobo is a vibe that I just don't think enough people are capable of truly understanding and appreciating in this game. SC really gives you one of the ultimate playgrounds to just.. do what you want. The number of ways you can PK in this game are really just limited by your imagination and your charm. You could.. I dunno:>Senselessly gank>Bait UEX traders into double-crosses>Offer to ferry people on a fast ship for long distances, build up trust, and then one day just... cut the engine, pull the QT drive, and hunt them down on the ship 1 by 1>Hang around drop off outposts and drop large boxes on traders>Volunteer as crewmen on larger crews and slowly subtly sabotage the ship and try to go amogusYou have a really big canvas to paint your own story, anon.

>>2693458>>2693413Sincerely, if you have such a problem with PVP and ganking, there's two things you should be doingPester CIG to flesh out the crime stat and rep system to be more robustAnd go be a militia and do something about it instead of whining to daddy Roberts to protect your little bitch ass.
>>2693874>Pester CIG to flesh out the crime stat and rep system to be more robustBut that doesn't sell ships; ever-changing meta and power creep does.
>>2693886It does sell ships, wtf do you think capships are.
>>2693898Or rather, not making a better system sells them.
>PvE event>no sovlful ship in store like the hawk or the glad>"here, you can have the paladin and the tiburon :)"nice job CiGgersis the paladin even nice to fly solo since you don't have the 4xs5 ? HP and shield is high I guess
>>2693472If you are just going for ships, arrow with all ballistic repeaters (shredders) is THE pvp meta for right now. Something like the corsair or taurus with deadbolts will handle bigger ships while tanking smaller ship weapons, while also allowing you to snatch up any random cargo you find that isn't contracted. If you have friends, the perseus is just downright nasty, theres not much anyone can do to stop you except bring another perseus. If you are going for "the most dangerous game" hunting, the Starfarer has a very maze-like interior that is easy to get lost in, especially if you are panicking. Also, it has a pretty fast qt drive last time I checked.. perfect for ferrying people around when suddenly something is wrong with the qt drive *shotgun racking sounds*. Any big ship that you can get lost in will, really. If you PK in Stanton, inside monitored space, the game will tell the PK'd who did it and they will have a choice to give you crimestat. You can get crimestat in monitored spaces in nyx too. Pyro is a free for all, not sure if you get crimestat near gateways. Taking down comm arrays turns the local area into unmonitored space, but also creates a contract for players to come intervene or turn it back on.Happy hunting, anon. The silencer in the game is incredibly effective and I recommend it for amogus type activities since it is effectively silent.
>>2693413I posted >>2693156You should really let your hair down and enjoy what the game has to offer. Besides, anyone who has engaged in pvp, consensually or unconsensually, knows that pve players are always the worst people in the game with the worst attitudes. You're proving it right now. Nobody else in the game makes death threats or wishes ill-grievance on people, except for pve players. If you need someone to be righteously mad at, be mad at CIG for putting out such broken updates, while pretending the game is still Alpha to shirk the responsibility of good quality control. If it makes you feel any better, I am extremely kind and try to help people when I can IRL. I've done more volunteer work in my life than you could ever hope to imagine. Star Citizen is just a game.
CIG really needs to implement NPC police in stanton. Won't happen though until Chris has drained every last drop of subscriber money to gargle mark hamills balls.
>>2694360While I agree, that High-sec/Low-sec should have means to discourage complete and total lawlessness, this won't fix the problem for people who absolutely abhor pvp gameplay. CIG will just gate lucrative high risk high reward content in open pvp areas, and then pve players will whine and cry when they get ganked in said areas. It's what is already happening. The audacity for a pve player to complain about pvp in Pyro is just downright telling. Pve players want pvp players dead, with cancer, and out of the game. They don't want to coeexist. Hopefully Squadron 42 will get the pve toxic player menace out of SC. Pvpve and pvp chads have my upmost respect.pve players are mentally weak and incapable of accepting that they made a mistake against real human threats in-game or that they could possibly ever be wrong. They are the same normies who go to football games and get in fights with other team fans and riot after a game. They have no problem with hostile npc's though (easy to cheese and predictable). Ironically, they are like the npc's in-game with a bad case of main character syndrome.Mog Complete.
>>2694406If there was more reason to play and organize, there would be more player policing
>>2694412Agree 100%. CIG is the root cause for rampant ganking right now. There's nothing else in the game that works, so might as well do the one thing that does work. That said, they should never take away the open pvp stance in-game. It makes everything much more engaging and rewarding/punishing/thrilling. CIG really needs to fix their shit, so pve loops actually work, rather than working flawlessly until the last final freight elevator down button is pushed and they lose everything. In a way, I think pve player toxicity comes from them being constantly frustrated from engaging in the most broken gameplay loops in the game. Unfortunately, the vocal pve players are sunk cost fallacied into doubling down and saying everyone else is wrong, rather than accepting that they are playing a fundamentally flawed gameloop.
>>2694342Same. Just a game and I like it when ships explode. PvE players hurl the worst slurs, everytime.>Exhibit 1: this thread Anyone who gives a gf and asks questions in chat usually gets an invite to discord to join us along with training if they want it.There's actual scumbag behavior in the game, though. Trade scams, blocking pads, anything that takes it out of game (not limited to, but including doxxing) blocking ASOPs, etc. Getting blown out in your Ares by a competent Arrow pilot is just the game. Learn how to dogfight and take some agency back into your life.
>>2694360This won't matter as much as you think. The infrastructure is too bad and the NPCs are ineffective. I think it's more likely they just eat server resources and they won't protect you at all.If the answer is "fix NPCs to be effective", you're reinforcing the low skill playstyle of needing an Idris to do anything because most players can't deflect and have to tank every shot.
>>2694799>if you fix npc's to be effective you're reinforcing the low skill playstyleI think you just want to continue to grief unabated. Personally I don't think that CIG giving their NPC police hit scan insta kill guns is a bad thing. If you want to pirate you should be doing it in pyro and nyx, not stanton.t. lives in pyro.
>>2694906Bud, if they put hitscan instagib guns in the game on npc's, hackers/exploiters will find a way to get them. This problem is strictly due to lack of brain cells in the afflicted population. Travel in groups with fighter escorts and keep an eye on the skies. Problem solved. For the love of god don't put things in the game that will be exploited/hacked/abused to everyone's misfortune. The very loud and very vocal people complaining about pvp are the same people that load their cargo ships up with cargo that costed them ALL of their aUEC, then went ALONE, on a ship that even has crewable turrets to defend itself but is too slow and too weak to defend itself from just the pilot seat, then ignored all warning signs, landed at a random outpost, and got got...so many bad decisions... you'd either have to know you were gambling and accept the outcome, or, be dumb enough to think you were doing everything right but the game is wrong. I guess CIG threw them a bone with contracted cargo since they no longer have to waste their own money on cargo. No concessions from CIG will ever satisfy them, though. They are skinner-box-style dopamine addicts from mmorpg's where making number go up is an easy but time-invested process with strict rules designed to reward them for time-consuming play (because more time = more subscription money). You never hear pve players complain about how long it took to successfully complete a mission. You only hear them talk about all the time they wasted with no reward. Their end-game victory is to have pve servers with no actual threat other than cheesable npcs.tl;dr - Open PVP is critical to this game for the majority of players. PVE players will cry until they get an "i win" buttonI need to stop yapping, bros.
>>2695351>Bud, if they put hitscan instagib guns in the game on npc's, hackers/exploiters will find a way to get them.No they won't.
paladin on salepaladin solo good or shit ?
>>2695353>casually ignores all the current exploits and previous inventory steal hax in recent patchesI see you're either new or retarded.
>>2695375>if you do this then (headcanon made up fanfic story)No it won't.
>>2695370It has 4 s4 guns for the pilot with 4 SCU storage on a cumbersome ship. If you bring friends, it has 4 s5 guns on one turret and 2 s4 on the other 2 turrets. It's a multi-crew aimed at taking down hammerheads and smaller.
>>2695389so guardian mx better for solo? I am not inviting my friends on this scam
>>2695419The hand's down best solo ships are connie taurus or corsair. You can earn enough money with those to start exploring around with in-game ship purchases but it'll be a little bit of a grind.Corsair is cheaper than the connie taurus in-game, but the connie taurus is cheaper than the corsair IRL.>Guardian MX ..has 4 xs4 with s2 shields, which will get you up to being able to solo a something like a connie reliably. If you are going after bigger ships like hammerheads, you need s5 ballistic cannons.>Regular Guardian ..has 2 xs5 guns>Corsair ..has 4 x s4 and 2 x s5 pilot guns along with an s3 shield and heavier armor that will tank most fighter rounds and give you time to escape.>Constellation Taurus ..has 4x s5 guns along with an s3 shield and fairly large cargo bay for the ship size. Same thing for heavier armor, but connie has double the hull hitpoints of corsair. It really depends on what you want to do. If you don't mind grinding, apparently refueling is god-tier for money right now. I don't have any ship recommendations for that though. The taurus and corsair run around 6-8 million aUEC ingame. Guardian and Guardian MX are around the same price. Meta fighter in the game is arrow atm, which runs 1.9 mil ingame.Hope this helps
>>2694906I promise you there is not an NPC in the game that will stop me from killing you if that's what I want.>>2695351Exactly this. It'll break the basic gameplay design of NPC ships=PC ships, plus they'll just get captured and be OP used for actual griefing. Honestly, I expect AI blades to be the same way. I don't know why someone thinks their Carrack is going to fare better with AI blades if I can navdrop a group of AI blade Idris/Reclaimer/Tyllilululu/Scorpius/etc instead of crewing those guns. It'll be the same with AI crew. They just won't be very effective but they WILL be effective enough that you'll never put someone in a turret again over just bringing another bladed ship.>>2695382Def new or trolling; no further engagement with you is required until good faith argument.

>>2694272>but also creates a contract for players to come intervene or turn it back onThis doesn't get abused enough. There should be a concerted effort to turn these off and also ambush anyone turning them back on
>>2695580Pvp in open pvp isn't griefing. Go play a sp game if you want to relax. You are entering the jungle when you log into PU. What you're saying is like saying killing another player in day z is griefing. All your talk about sucking dicks and doing drugs sounds like projection to me with the opinions you are espousing. The vernacular all but confirms it. Nice self portrait also.
>>2695536It does. Thanks.why does the expedition / cargo ship have 4 s4 and 2 s5 pilots gun??I am impressed every day but this ciggotry.
>>2695601>nice self portrait alsoLmao you're so mad, truly the pot calling the kettle black
>>2694906>I don't think that CIG giving their NPC police hit scan insta kill guns is a bad thing.Well it's probably a good thing you're not actually a game designer at CIG because that is the most retarded bullshit imaginable. Then again, doesn't matter how much you throw at a player, npcs are mostly ineffective unless the player is literally retarded. But seriously, if you don't want to get PVPed, hire a guard, share the mission spoils, it's that simple.
>>2695557>I promise you there is not an NPC in the game that will stop me from killing you if that's what I want. There's the tranny.
>>2695604Drake is somewhere between the shitty windowless cargo van's ukranian refugees all seem to have, an AA gun mounted on a toyota hylux/tacoma, russian military vehicles/hardware sold to the 3rd world, and Dodge vehicles with all the weird shit like hidden compartments they add to all their vehicles strictly intended for illegal shit.In-game lore-wise, Drake say their ships are for this or that, but it's really all just for piracy.
>>2695353I can steal literally any ship in the game from NPCs with an EMP ship and a plasma grenade. You can store NPC ships in your personal hangar to keep them long term.Maybe you should go play No Man's Sky or something, it's safer for you there.

>>2695652Incredible reply buddy, but next time give yourself a few minutes/hours to get your breathing under control and your heartrate back to normal
>>2695628Alright I can somewhat see that. The taurus with 4 s5 is fucking retarded but it's a RSI so it's obvious why it's like that.
>>2693458Those people should be heavily armed and supplied and just airdropped into enemy nations to wreak havoc before they are eventually gunned down.
>>2695370Its absolute highlight is that it has stairs.
>>2695604Corsair is one of the "punches above its weight" ships. I dont know if its the first one, but its one of the ships that was clearly the best ship when it launched, its been nerfed a few times now but currently its ok since it got some armor. You can think of corsair as the default ship for pyro, has a lot of guns, cargo and big fuel tanks to jump around in pyro.
>>2695676Both ships have reasonable multiple entry points for both ground and space. The taurus is probably the objectively better ship, but the corsair grows on you and I like back ramps more than droppable cargo trays, so for me, it's the corsair. I also like the rogue vibe of Drake, since I'm pretty sure it was inspired by Joss Whedon style ships from alien resurrection and firefly.
>>2695718Corsair is a bit of an odd ship. Its simultaneously so many things>Look grows on you>Looks nice landed>Wings are surprisingly useful>Wings are very annoying>Turrets are ruining the outline and useless>Nice guns for pilot>Interior is one of the best in the game>Interior has too many doors>Nice new armor>Very low hpIt used to be pretty reliable ship overall but now the elevator has started to bug quite a bit - careful!
>>2695780Stock weapon load out for it is nice this patch and is good for pve and needing to reload. The Connie taurus comes with 4 galdereens that will need to be swapped, probably for 1 mil auec for laser cannons or deadbolts.

>>2696148Bro, they are projecting. All PVE'ers are the same. They lash out and insult you with personal attacks, threats, etc, while never looking in a mirror. Why would it be any different here? All the stuff we've said in this thread about mechanics that would get abused is true, and demonstrably true using actual events that have happened like you said. Someone said I was using headcanon earlier, when I was describing solo traders I've seen in game countless times. They live in a fantasy inside a game.
>>2696148>I'm saying (made up head canon fantasy dream that isn't real)
>>2696029>0 consequence or pushbackThey want players to face IRL punishments for destroying their ships anon.
>>2696588And "those" guys are retarded, actual piracy is within the game rules 100%(doesnt mean people arent allowed to call you a cunt THOUGH)But if you do dumb shit like stand in other peooles freight elevators or try to bug them in armistice just to piss people off again and again then your account should be banned/bricked until 1.0 and im not kidding
>>2689397Bare minimum 1080p/30 setup, budget
>>2695604Drake ships are marketed as one thing but are actually another, with piracy being the underlying theme. The Caterpillar for example has 'parking censors' that are meant to be used as a battering ram into enemy vessels. Once it latches on, the crew can physically cut into the hull of the target vessel, steal whatever they need, then disembark with the Command Module to get away. This isn't headcanon. It's literally what CIG said the dual-use purpose of the Caterpillar is supposed to be, hence then name.
>>2696684Agreed.They need to fix PvP bounty hunting too. Last time I tried it there were 4 experiences, equally distributed.>target just sitting in grimhex doing nothing for hours>target camping random poi armistice so his buddy can try to gank>target disconnects as soon as you catch up to them>target is just some poor sap who accidentally shot the wrong NPC on a bunker missionAnd they all pay the same, offer no information on the target, and half of them don't work at all.
>>2696948>target is a vulture that scraped an abandoned ship in the wrong place

>nerf the good ballistics by 50% of their alpha damage up to size 3>don't touch the restIncredible "balancing pass" by the cunts. Truly the might of a billion dollar studio
>>2696948What's there to fix? That's the nature of the system. Before you give a long winded hopium speech about what bounty hunting "should be", replete with smokey bars and Johns in corner booths offering intel - please don't. Focus on how SC actually operates.>>2698345It's over. There's no vision, just spreadsheet balancing all the way down.
>>2695628Dodge has always been my main comparison. It's got it all, the focus on huge engines and straight line acceleration/speed, the bombastic marketing and brand image, the iffy build quality, making everything from sports cars (fighters) to large commercial vehicles, and the fact that their vehicles are associated with both cops and criminals. They even have 5 letter names that start with D and end with E. On the Cutlass specifically, everybody always compares it to the Hilux but I've always thought it's more like the Huey with those side doors and the range of roles it fits into.
>>2698818It's what happens when they shit out over a hundred ships when they still can't decide on how they should feel, fly and interact.
>>2699290It's so disheartening. We've been watching them throw things at the wall in real time to see what sticks since (at least) the introduction of Engineering. It is extremely hard for me to believe they have a vision of the overall mural and we're too close to the wall to see it. The swings are simply too massive in random directions every time.
>>2698818>what's there to fixEasy. Bounty missions in the mobiglas should:>State the last known location of the target>State the ship/vehicle they were last seen in>State whether they are known to be operating with accomplices>State their CS level and what their recorded offenses are>Scale payments based on the aboveAdditionally, when a bounty holding player is in an armistice zone, they should be on a timer. If they stay too long, they lose protection. This one is trickier to implement, and maybe that's not the right answer to the problem but it's an issue that needs to be solved somehow.
>>2698345What do we even use now? M5A's? What even is the plan for weapon balancing?
>have to add a special rule to my password generators regex because somehow, after 13 years, CIG managed to break the password input field on both the launcher and website to where special characters cannot be the last character in your passwordWAOW!

Can someone explain how people say Star Citizen has more depth than Elite? I feel like whenever people say this, it's like we are not even playing the same game. I agree that with the state of Elite being mile wide deep as a puddle but compared to SC it feels like SC is lacking in terms of gameplay depth when it comes to space ships, ship combat, trading, exploring, and overall multiplayer activities.I get that you have the ability to walk around ships etc. but I feel like that's kind it? Ship combat everyone just kind of uses the same weapons. Mining seems the same and the only important factor is what ship you use. Trading and navigating also feel like point a to b and that your don't have to chart your routes and avoid certain jump points for fuel efficiency. I like both games but I never understood how people say that Elite is shallow and SC isn't. I'm sure SC will improve whenever 1.0 releases but when people compare it to what the game is now against other games, it's fucking wild when they say SC has depth and other games don't.
>>2699649Not bad, anon, not bad. I don't mind the god marker but the gameplay of being within comm range or using your mobi to by visible was neat prior to 4.0. I don't stress about people sitting at Grim Hex, though. There's no sense wasting time over it and I truly don't think there's a lot of the playerbase getting a CS and then standing at Grim Hex simply to waste your time.>>2700354Elite and SC are broadly pretty similar, but Elite feels empty and dead because it's a solo experience most of the time.
>4.10: C-788 Cannon : Alpha damage increased from 325 to 1200 (+269%)Ok cig...
>>2700463>I don't stress about people sitting at Grim HexYeah if the bounty mission said that's where they were last seen, I would just ignore it. As is you have to waste a bunch of time taking missions, seeing they are camping at ghex, etc. Just annoying.
>>2699719Don't tell CiG but I've been fucking players over with 3 dominance laser shotguns on my gladius
>>2700354Two things:Elite is a mp game where the "pvp slider" was implemented. It is a dead npc game where you might as well be playing a sp game.Second, SC was designed from the ground up at this point to be a FPS game with ships as a key component, whereas ED was designed ground up as a ship game with FPS bolted on late in its life. The depth comes from the level of detail in the worlds and the seamless experience going from waking up in your bed, getting a whammers cheeseburger, kitting up/loading stuff on the ship, taking off, flying to a planet, landing, exploring a cave, getting fucked off lost in it because of how big it is, getting ganked by some rando murder-hobo who followed you in for the lulz. Alternatively, another demonstration of depth would be breaking out of prison, traversing through the side-caves up to the surface to have a bro waiting for you, or having to steal the ursa and ride to the aid center, and you have something like a 100i that you can pull and escape the moon in. Add to that the absolutely insane creative ways you can achieve just about anything since you can EVA. Not to mention the absolutely insane concept of even being able to have other people run around on your ship and seamlessly transition between inside and out, doing stuff like air assaults or boarding chasing ships.Ultimately: ED is a game about ships. SC is a game about FPS and ships. I've tried playing ED at least 5 times as an alternative to SC after 3.18 ran me off from SC, but something about it just doesn't interest me. I don't know if it's the janky-vibe or if I'm just too smoothbrained to appreciate it. I got some new sticks coming in though, so I might give it a chance again. The vast size of ED is probably it's biggest draw for me.Sidenote: No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous seem like they are in their own game category/genre separate from Star Citizen with more of a focus on exploration. SC seems like it is a half FPS half space "sim" gta open pvp sandbox.

>>2701068How big of ships does this take out? I'd switch to it when they kill ballistics, especially if it ganks big ships.
>>2701834on my gladius ballistic scattergun is easier on your cap and shoot faster and it does 2500 damage, 2500 alphaDominance does 2600 for 3300.For big ship make sure to stay over the 200 300m limit otherwise you'll get blown to kingdom fuck. That or if you're orbit, blow up the thrusters. The few time I saw an arrow it's either your pass fuck them up so hard they run away or they're smart and keep their distance.Nobody like their shield suddenly breaking and their body going red.
>>2702000>chektI'll experiment with this this weekend. Just got an arrow setup with mil grade a stuff, flight blade, and shredders. I need to get my red gladius kitted up so I can take her back out. What components are you running on gladius if you don't mind me asking?
>>2702042pure stock other than the weapons. I don't bother with them because the upgrade barely justify the grinds / price. For missiles when it works I always grab rattlers.
>>2702059Thx, I will probably just throw excess stealth components I have on the gladius. I don't mess with missiles this patch. Stealth with scatterguns sounds like a hilarious combo.
>>2702073I would have tried it on my talon but there's no ballistic or laser scattergun.
Last night spent some time stealing ships from NPC missions.Stole a Cutlass, Cutter, Valkyrie, a couple Freelancers. Routine is simple: Pop their shields then distort them, open their ass, kill the pilot and any turret gunners (sometimes requires a plasma grenade) and then take the ship back to a station and you can store it. Using a Warlock it costs 12k or less per ship (claim on the warlock so you can get back out there.)It doesn't show up on the pad with a "Store" option but if you summon a different ship, it'll store the one on the pad, even if there's a body in it.Problem is, next time you summon the ship, it just despawns. Seems any mission ship will do so once the mission is over. You can however strip all the components off of it, so there's that. So, any ships that are known to not despawn? Are they from particular missions or locations?
>>2702504Very nice. Supposedly you can steal the polaris on gilly 8. Usually the bots don't move around for a solid 1-2 min. You could probably use a hover bike to get close and gank the pilot then have ai crewed turrets. What you do after that is really up to your imagination.
>>2702042Components aren't in a very necessary replacement spot for fighters in ballistic meta. Shields matter very little. Power plant HP doesn't vary a whole lot and you don't need the pips. Coolers are a solved problem with Vaporblocks and Heatsafes. If you're just starting out with fighters, you're probably not going to have a good time with scatterguns.
>>2703054I'd say the power pips matter personally, but 1 extra pip isn't as big a deal as it may seem I guess. Cooling is a joke, most ships you can even take a pip off the stock coolers to shove into shields or engines without overheating.
>>2703054It's not my first rodeo, have been on the leaderboards high up before. I've been playin solo for a while though, orgs just aren't my thing right now so I might be a little out of tune on the finer details.I have absolutely fucked some shit up with scatterguns in the past before balancing got all weird, so I'm excited to try them again on some unlucky pyro tourists.

>>2689397what is august bundle.
>>2705088you're mum's used underwear and the broken condom from your conception
>>2703238Power matters, but only in the sense of getting enough power to every component. It's generally a solved problem in the current patch with the exception of a few ships like the Guardian and Blade. JS powerplants, for instance, don't do much beyond a (little) disto damage HP, a little bit of HP, and a few extra power pips only needed in a few circumstances. Coolers is literally no thought required - just use Vaporblocks/Iceblocks. For shields, either Civ A or stock works fine with minimal gain from FRs. >component balance sucks and has for awhile
I managed to torp the idris and disabled it's turrets and engines while shields were down. I soloed an Idris with a Tibby. I don't know, anons, but this ship is pretty good tbqh.

If you think buying ships is expensive, I also have 4 gaming pc's, two sets of hosas, a racing wheel and pedals, vr headset and motion controllers, decent studio monitor speakers and monitor headphones all with accompanying amps running through external sound card, primo m+kb, head tracking, etc etc, I could go on. SC is literal chump change compared to all the other stuff.Maybe you should enjoy the areas in life where you are rich rather than enviously obsessing from afar. I'd trade it all for a nice big paid off house with a 30-50 acre plot of land near some wilderness or a beach but I'm not willing to suffer the best years of my life struggling for that. I'm satisfied with my lot, bro. Are you?
>>2706232>NTAVery pathetic behaviour.
What the fuck even is this conversation? Are we trying to shame people for being poor for using CCUs, or for not using CCUs and wasting money? y'all kinda dumb either way, bragging about pay to win.
>>2689397Star Citizen really needs a low graphics option that works. Nothing is going to fuck this game more than being unplayable on a potato PC. I should be able to run this at 1080p/30 on my Intel i9 6969FE with a GTX 1080 and 32 gigs of DDR4 on a regular ass SSD
>>2705498Min and Max ranges are the ranges at which your pip will appear. Essentially your radars current "max".At minimum power, it's min range. It will then scale by however many meters per pip up to max range (wow). The buffer is how many "extra" meters you get if you exceed your current "max".SNSR7/SNSR7X have a fixed power draw and are generally the pick as the minimum value does not apply, so you get max radar range for a very economical fixed cost. Prophets (Stealth A) have their use as well for low signature builds.

My Railen alone was $155, so a $245 discount, and that was completely done with a ship and CCUs I bought during last IAE.

But experience tells me that every time I check on the game, nothing they add makes the game fun.I'm going to log in, accept a box mission, put the box in the back of my Cutlass, put the Cutlass on my Kraken, and use the Kraken to ferry it across the galaxy. But I'm still going to do fucking box missions. I'll still do patrol missions. I'll still use it as a mining platform, which I already do with my rental polaris. The best possible thing waiting for me is the 15-30 minutes of fleeting excitement I get from exploring the interior before shelfing it. That's what $1650 got me seven years ago.
>>2721152Gonna be honest with you, fren. You're playing the game wrong.Rules to live by in SC:>#1 Never play on a X.0 patch, always wait till X.1>#2 Never do cargo/mining/salvaging/box missions unless you are a sadistic masochist for yourself>#3 PvE will forever be broken until it is not, do PvP>#4 You will get fucked at any point in game-play by the game and there's nothing you can do about it. Tailor your entire experience around minimizing loss, while maximizing carebear damage infliction. Also, the kraken is going to be broken as fuck when it launches and you will not enjoy it, especially if you haven't been playing and don't have at least a small rag-tag of randos to have 1 or 2 play with you every now and then. Even if you have a big ship, chances are, you're going to lose anything custom on it and end up having to pay 600,000-1,000,000 auec just get anything custom on it back.Playing on a corsair/taurus with a few fighters you can buy ingame seems to be the sweet spot right now. You can do gilly missions and make decent money, loot open pvp areas, gank bigger ships like hammerhead, and loot cargo from players.TTK is relatively lower with ballistic cannon/repeater meta right now, so the game is enjoyable. The game is always worst to me when TTK is high and the bugs are overwhelming.

They have a very high DPS, but again the issue is that they changed how shields and ballistics work. Previously shields would let through an amount of ballistic damage comparable to the amount of shields lost. Now it's a flat amount. So even with lower DPS, ballistics are just better because you don't have to fuck around with shield recharging, shield facing or any of that ass. You just hit the target and do damage.Torsen also is fucking retarded. Why he was placed in charge of balancing I don't know. Even worse Chris is the head retard and most of the changes are because it's not "cinematic" enough for him.

>>2737888Its a contributing factor but quite small. They even admitted it in the scl - its the ships left everywhere.
>>2737991Obviously persistence to that degree is stupid and a problem, but the idea that the playerbase using a feature that anon from his high horse soapbox is going to correct is peak arrogance, especially considering that every single player is contributing to persistence if they play the game.
>>2739618Now that "bricking" is in game, may as well just have the server automatically clean up those useless bricked ships. The space jannies (salvagers) may cry about it, but this issue wouldn't exist had they been able to do their job.>Yeah, having an ever-growing ship graveyard around every external freight elevator is just SO IMMERSIVE.This shit would only work in a single player game, or else a multi-player game where (actually good) NPCs outnumber the players to such an extent that player action have little impact on the game world unless one sets out specifically to create an impact.CIG promised the former all those years ago, and the latter is never ever going to happen, despite their claims.
>>2739750>The space jannies (salvagers) may cry about it,why would they cry about it? They can't even do anything with them. They really dropped the ball with T0 component bricking. You can't fly them, you can't salvage equipment from them, you can't even destroy them in armistice areas, they're literal tumors. It's pretty lame to be shot down over a bunker with a bunch of landed ships scattered around and you can't even use them to get offsite.
>>2739806I meant the rare few individuals who actually fly salvage ships to scrap RMC. They REALLY love their work, for some reason.

>>2740713>IMO it was dead when they slashed component sell prices. You could still find good components for your ships just flying around and scavenging from abandoned ships. Now it's pointless.
>>2740719yeah but my favorite memory of the game (admittedly simple and childish) was salvaging with a friend - he salvaged with vulture and I took the boxes and guns etc. from the ships to a cutlass black.
>>2740705Big if true
>>2740705Everyone is saying the complete opposite for s3 and below. PVP groups have fully embraced the c-788's over deadbolts for s4. c-788's have an incredibly low TTK.
>>2740860You can look the stats up yourself. They're inferior to deadbolts in every metric that matters. Size 4 deadbolts can already penetrate an idris so the increase in alpha is meaningless when the dps is so much lower. The people you're listening to are the same idiots that you see make fortnite or cod videos on the new meta gun. Total retards.
>>2741094Yeah man except for the splash damage on the C-788s which isn't reflected on Erkuls or spviewerI swear this thread is 90% shitty bait posts

>>2741145It's fine dude, use your deadbolts and jork it to feeling superior to all the meme meta sweatlords >splash damage is back in and is breaking varipucks
>>2741153You've never fought an idris. It either has 100% shields or 0% shields. This sort of posturing is rife among faggots who've never pvped.>>2741157>splash damage is backCig have been actively removing all sources of splash damage in the game including the mustang rockets. Where's the evidence splash works now on this one gun?
>>2741161You strike me as the kind of person who's going to claim this isn't splash damage, but here's three stills from a clip where it's 100% obvious that splash damage is occuring and is still very apparent in the stills if you understand what you're looking at.>hurr durr send me the clip this isn't evidence of splash damage>every single piece of the Bucc is damaged after only four impacts
>>2741217NTA and not claiming you are wrong..But damage in SC propagates down towards main part.So if you damage a child part (they usually have less hp too) once it gets red it starts to propagate ALL of its damage down the chain towards the main part.Imagine as shooting at a single part in a ship that is not the main part- even if you shoot at that child part (if its not a detachable part) - you will eventually destroy the whole ship.
>>2741250It propogates to vital once you deplete the HP of a non vital. Do you think both wingtips, engines, rear fins, and nose were damaged by two hits?
>>2741260No, but due to the projectile size and penetration, one projectile can damage multiple parts even without the original splash damage - in theory.I've never heard anyone talk or even consider the penetration to damage more than internal components but it could be the case.Or occams razor, the old splash damage is still around. It's not like they'd remove it from the projectile code.
>>2741260>>2741273In fact if you could test it by shooting from the side at bucc or similar it would kinda show whats up. If its splash then only a side of the ship is damaged and if its penetration the whole ship is damaged.
>>2741276There are multiple test videos in various pvp discords. Use whatever weapons you want, but in other clips you can clearly watch an arrow being hit in the body and the weapons themselves taking damage. Weapons are breaking in duels in 2-4 hits.
>>2741302Ok, I have no reason to not believe you.Is it only C-788 that has splash damage? are there other weapons that are supposed to have it?
>>2741315Nope, it's just C-788 that I've seen.
>>2741217This is pen not splash damage retard.
>>2741217If you want to test this go to a bunker and shoot next to a soldier. It won't hurt him because it doesn't have splash since it was removed last year from the gun. You also fired both rounds not just one. You really have no idea about how the game works.
>>2741326CIG knew this going in, PTU reported its op right?I'd say its a fuckup by cig but either they cant edit balance without pushing dangerous files or they want to have it as it is for some test.I'm betting they fucked up but cant push balance files due to repo practises. Especially after the Idris fiasco.
>2741327 (You)I generally don't care to debate it with you so have a good one anon
>>2741327>>2741302I'm gonna test it out of curiosity. I'll post results.
>>2741327deadbolt 4s had more pen and radius last patch than the C7s do now so idk it is pen
>>2741507Size 4 deadbolts haven't changed stats from last patch as far as I know.
>>2741349This anon is right. But I am pretty sure neither of you expected exactly how. After the initial hit from the cannon, about 0.5 sec or so, the damage display shows ~5 extra hits, like 5 fragments from a grenade or such hitting different parts of Corsair - you can see hull starting to be damaged. Ignore right big wing, im shooting at the left engine with the little wings and the damage is spread to main hull and to wings etc.
>>2741585
>>2741609Hard to time screenshot in time to show the hit indicators but here I shot the big wing off, aiming at near the pivot, the engine did not take any damage while the hull got damaged. Its splash but its kinda fucked up how it works.
>>2741609That's penetration. You can check splash damage easily by going to a bunker and firing next to soldiers to see if they get hit.
>>2741688There is no telling if it works the same on ships and ground/characters.If its penetration in this case - then the projectile is the size of corsair almost. But ill humor you and go to a bunker
>>2741720When splash damage was in the game that's how we tested radius and spread.
>>2741609this is btw where and how i aimed. Smaller dent on engine is where the projectile lands visually and the big circle - no clue. It appeared when the wing broke off.
>>2741685
>>2741764>penetrates through one wing and wraps around to penetrate the other and then the hull
>>2741688>>2741732Well from my tests its not hitting characters if you hit the ground, Its kinda hard to test it with characters next to characters but it didnt do it one time I managed to have 2 guys next to each other. But again if its penetration, its kinda crazy since it hits an area size of the corsair, ill test with a bigger target. Is the penetration cone (start) size massive?
>>2741979No, and significantly smaller than deadbolts last patch.
Ok I'm aiming at this engine, I noticed something shooting the top one so I took a fresh one. This is the spot where I am aiming and shooting (polaris shields off)
>>2742127The hit indicators go really fucking far.Now I might need to keep shooting to prove it actually damages the hull - but in corsair it did.
>>2742185
>>2742190Fire near a pdc without hitting it and check
>>2742200will do, just testing that its not unrelated glitch. I have a vague memory of seeing those indicators all over the place
>>2742209Normal hits do go to single spot, but gonna test some other big guns quick.
>>2742209It does it with other big pen guns too. This is with perseus aiming at center mass:ish and the hit indicators go around wildly - not as wildly as with C-788 but you can see one in space above the engines.
>>2742301The indicators don't reflect specific hits. They'll appear and flash around the entire HP section you hit. If the area is large the 3D spark hitmarker things go all over. If it's small it's much less noticable.
Ok so uh. I did the pdc test.I'm just not sure what to say.Basic test.
>>2742396
Distance test from a certain angle...(ill edit some together once i park the polaris)
>>2742413
I kinda wanna test perseus on similarly now
Penetration is a conical cylinder and it is 60mm to 90mm 2.24 meters long on a C-788.It was 330mm to 660m and 6.6m long on the deadbolt 4 last patch and they didn't behave like this. The meteor guns don't either
>>2742495I'll do some tests tomorrow. Might be some autoaim gimmick due to using the zoom - I'll try without it and with different guns. But it sure looks like something is causing area damage.
>>2742519Yeah its fucking odd. I try to imagine a ball from the center but the ranges differ from different angles etc. Need to test more tomorrow.
>>2741161Different anon here. I could see splash damage being in game, I've been having components get destroyed when facing off against c-788s in light fighters. Shit like weapons getting blown off, wings getting blown off, engines getting destroyed.
How come we never see the devs playing the game? Like actual PU servers playing and show casing new features etc.
>>2743461You think they can actually play the game?Even IF the actual devs played, I bet they wouldn't play with names anyone would recognize, seeing as they'd get torn to shreds
>>2743797There used to be a dev that would go into FF and duel and was actually pretty good. Hasn't been seen in awhile and at this point public FF lobbies are empty anyway.
>>2743051Yeah i think its confirmed to be there but its a bit odd since its not LOS but it doesnt (seem to) be a sphere originating from the hit location either.
>>2743051The game had splash damage for a long time on specifically the c-788, missiles and rockets. Cig categorically went through and removed all the splash damage references over a year ago for all these weapons. The splash test against enemies at a bunker was previously how we tested splash radius but it no longer works on any weapons. Missiles no longer have the ability to even hit components any more and all rockets had their splash removed. I think it was september or october last year I remember c-788's splash damage being removed from the gun. The fact that shooting the ground does not produce splash damage indicates to me it's not splash damage and this is something else. Possibly some bad values on penetration which they have been messing with recently or some other weird code.
>>2744053Regardless of the mechanic, currently, C-788s effectively have splash damage
>>2744065>effectively have splash damageThat's why I've submitted a bug report about it.

Should I wait to buy the game until the Foundation Fest just in case they have a good deal on a starter pack, or should I buy now and enjoy the servers before they're overloaded with free fly players?
>>2756776The way the game has been performing the last couple patches should have CIG paying us to play it.
>>2756776i mean this without any malice anon.Do not buy this trashheap. Stay away from it. It's a plane that's slowly crashing down because the pilots are too retarded to change course.
>>2756776What >>2757238 saidBut if you absolutely cannot be persuaded to not buy it, wait for the fest, see if there's a starter pack, and do not, DO NOT ever buy anything beyond that starter pack. Just buy shit in game with in game money.
>>2756776Do not buy. It's a perpetual alpha/live service depending on what CIG needs it be to avoid lawsuits and it'll never be anything more than a way to get into debt in the name of "supporting the game". We're approaching 10+ years and counting for some jpgs that cost thousand or thousands of dollars. None of the gameplay loops are finalized so whatever ship you get will be left to rot after they change up the mechanic for the nth time and instead of updating older ships to be relevant they just make a new one to sell. Only people saying it's not a scam are in deep deep deep denial because they know it's a scam but they're in too far to back out.
>>2756776Buy only if you accept that this game is literally dead in roughly 2 years and unplayably buggy until then. And only buy the cheapest possible option if you want to experience the trainwreck. This game and company going bankrupt is no longer a possibility and now a reality. You have until SQ42 comes out +- 1-2 years
>>2756776Devs are incompetent because the code base is so massive now and there's been so many programmers being hired and leaving that nobody there knows how any of works anymore. The game has an enormous amount of tech debt that nobody will ever be able to solve and at this point in the life cycle it's just bandaid fixes on top of more bandaid fixes. The entire thing is being propped up on false promises and the cracks are really starting to show. Like the other anon said, this scam will be dead in 2 years.
>>2756776>>2757443I cant stress this enough: Majority of players in scg realize on some level that all the money we've spent on star citizen is lost. Gone. And the current best case we can reasonably expect is that we get a buggy but entertaining single player game with no replayability, while the mmo dies off.
>>2756776For me, this game is basically the game I dreamed of as a kid watching movies like The Fifth Element or Titan AE. Going back and rewatching old scifi movies makes me realize we have cinematic fidelity visual quality in the gameplay from the movies I grew up with. The problem, is that no other game even comes close to SC in terms of being a seamless physics-based multi-star system simcade type open pvp FPS experience with 700 player servers. I say it's a problem, because SC is broken as fuck and CIG should be embarassed by the bugs they knowingly let exist in their live branch. Also, CIG knows exactly what they are doing by using ship sales as a crutch since they seem to be leaning on it in more and more obnoxiously obvious ways. Their sales practices and calculated silence when shit is on fire is very damning, and does not inspire confidence. Look at the opinions of other anons that replied to you about the game. All that aside, when it's good, its god-tier. But when it's bad, you are uninstalling for years with the occasional check in that goes exactly like >>2744955.Considering you are already interested, I personally recommend you pick up the game, but understand that almost every single gameplay loop is broken. Don't do trading/mining/salvaging/box-delivery type missions or gameplay. If you do these mission types you will get burned bad. The inventory system with the game is also extremely bugged, particularly with persistent in-world items and transferring said items to non-physicalized storage on stations. You're going to experience pain, but if you love this type of game, you will tolerate it. DO NOT spend large sums of money on this game. At this point, it's just enabling the current state of the game to continue.
>>2757452An AI to analyze and reprogram the game code is the only hope for SC. It’s code is probably a Rat King by this point and induces the same revulsion to the programmers.
>>2757933Solid post, thoughtful.
I have a Polaris with LTI that was CCU'd from a starter game package. I have literally never left the hangar with said Polaris and never plan to at this rate. Not enough friends still play the game.Gray market it? How do I even go about selling this garbage?
>>2756776Wait till foundation festival to get a starter package deal that might come with free gear and a decent ship. Also try and do the foundation festival event for more account bound stuff. If you have to get a ship then get the Avenger Titan starter package. It's the best ship that does everything and you can also it's not hard to earn money and buy all the ships in-game, saving you potentially hundreds. Use this code: STAR-3K75-LP3D or one from the stickied list when you register your account for free stuff. BUT!This game is a buggy mess, you need more patience than fucking Buddha and this game may never come out. You are paying for admission into the circus. Get some thrills but don't get too attached. >>2758907Gray market is not really great for one single ship sale. You might get some tackers but you will not get the full value back. If you still enjoy the game sort of...maybe...kind of...then melt the package and use the store cred to buy a load of solo ships that you might enjoy more.
>>2758907>>2760518Id offer to buy the account since id like another for multibox, but since my trust for the project surviving longer than 2 years is 0, i cant justify using any money at all in the game. Instead i should be selling my account.
>>2760518I only paid $425 for it, and not really looking to buy more ships even if I had it as credit. Just want to get a few bucks back from this heap of shit that I'll literally never use. Even when I have a few friends to fly with, I'd rather pull out the Percy.>>2760801And I'm not interested in selling the whole account, just the Polaris, as it's giftable.Whole account has way too much value in it: $195 BMM, $310 Carrack, $320 Liberator, $420 Perseus (I should have fucking used some CCU tricks on the Perseus but I was retarded at the time.) And a few other ships. Probably not going to use the BMM, but the other 3 I kind of want to hang on to
>>2760909Polaris is not a very hot item in the community right now which is kinda telling since its better than idris if you have even a single crew member, let alone 2.
CiG cultists are a whole new level of infuriatingly stupid.
What would it take to make CIG go back to the old flight model?Master modes are turbo nigger aids
>>2760518>>2763605That toilet seat picrel is cig-cultists man. I swear if you say anything negative about the game in chat, 10 wild cig cum guzzlers pop out of nowhere start trying to bully you for not sucking cigs cock. I urge you guys to try it and have a laugh engaging them. What do you guys think the average cig-cultist is like IRL? Personally, I think they are chronic stoners, because if you ever had a stoner friend, at some point late in their addiction they start becoming irritable at the dumbest shit. Cig Cultists are the same. It's like anything that they don't like that ruins their buzz that a normal person wouldn't even think about sends them into a violent rage and puts you on their shitlist. It's always dumb shit like "nah I don't like that show/music/game".
>>2763869Not even just that. They're so willing to put up any bad faith argument they can to try and shut you up but when you prove them wrong they devolve into ad hominem attacks every single time because they know they're wrong and have nothing constructive to say. Then they have the nerve to shift goalposts again and again after using the same 2 or 3 insults they have which is usually some variant of "you don't know how alpha works" or "you're just a child throwing a temper tantrum". Sometimes they even accuse of you of being a chronic indoor neckbeard which is just them projecting. What I think they are in real life are actual 300 pound land whales with no life, friends, or sense of self worth so they can latch onto their $5000 jpgs and pretend they're superior because they make poor financial decisions and can't accept that fact so they attack anybody that criticizes the game because it to them you're attacking their identity.

How are you guys enjoying the new c-788 meta? Reminds me of the old JT days with low TTK. Every dogfight is a gamble in a good way, adds so much tension that you got new bloods hitting lucky shots and veteran getting antsy and missing shots. The only people not flinching are the guys with 500+ hours in arena commander. Truly a spectacle right now. If you enjoy pvp you're eating good this patch since there are multiple JT hot spots in Pyro. Urge you to log on if you haven't in a while if you enjoy some good PU spaceship pvp shenanigans.
>star citizen will have a campaign>actually we splitting it off to better focus on fps>SC Ai is just standing and doing nothing while you shoot emthis just gonna be hobbled together spaghetti code isn't it....There is no way SC42 become a definite base for fps part of sc.They can't help themselves doing radical changes.

I tried a lot of thing and I can conclude that the basher is only fun with scattergun because your agility does a lot of lifting.I can do gauntlet up to 6 with it.Ballistic works better for big ship and laser shotgun onetap smaller shields.I ganked a lot of traders with it and I almost managed to kill a hull C with it.I think scatterguns works on ships with a lot of guns to make up for the loss of dps with S1 to S3 because you essentially cast a fireball of fuck you in front of you. Here you go. Useless info on a shitty overpriced ship for a dying game.

Enjoy your space mmo, Goyim! Keep buying the digital ships. Keep upgrading those CCU Chains. Don’t buy a $45 Aurora Mk2 and play for hundreds of hours while only spending AUEC on ships. No, no Goyim! You must compete with who owns the most imaginary ships!
>>2773050>basher released and you want to give the shiv a go goy?>well here you go! warbond pack with both ship in them>pay up
>>2773050>>2773060CIG has an extremely unforgivable sales-first doctrine. However, gamers should be aware of what's available for in-game purchase and rental. With a little starting capital from your starter ship, you could work your way towards a corsair and be setup for the rest of the patch to earn enough for usable ships or just fuck around with the corsair. The corsair is 6,2 mil aUEC, which is extremely achievable (sold at New Deal <- Lorville <- Hurston).Grind low tier missions enough to scrounge up for something like an avenger, buccaneer, arrow. Grind the entry level intersec missions for intersec rep until you unlock vanduul tech smugglers, then run vanduul tech smuggler but skip the loot and you can net somewhere around 1.5 mil auec per mission doing 99% fps work. It is a little bit of a time investment, but there are quick item rewards all along the way that make it worth it. Loot in the final warehouse is broken right now, so if you plan on making keycards in the mission, just save them for now. You can always come back and just loot the warehouse after shutting down the security alarm when you first arrive.List of ships available in game with location:https://scfocus.org/ship-sale-rental-locations-history/
>>2773319Renting a Raft is even cheaper until you can buy your own which is still cheaper. Downside is you can only haul cargo but get good enough at it and you can do the A18 <-> Baijini point loop in 30 minutes and make enough to buy a Raft in an afternoon.
Does anyone know if the escalate stabilizer 1 (minus 10% damage, plus 30% RoF) affect the Lumin V at all? I made a chart with all SMGs with all possible damage upgrades and highest DPS muzzles. If I count the Lumin V as a fully automatic (which it isnt) with an escalate muzzle it could supposedly out DPS both the quartz and the tweaker P8-SC but given thats a burst weapon the data could be wrong since I have no idea if the RoF bonus affect only the time between shots (within the burst itself) and/or the downtime between bursts.
>>2773738I don't know, but I just wanted to comment that the Lumin V and Gallant aesthetics grow on me every single day, and I consider reserving the parallax for more serious missions to carry a gallant more regularly. I wish there was a better looking killshot, since it's pretty much an ak rifle with a gallant barrel mounted underneath the ballistic barrel. What I noticed in the past is that smg's seem to have either high damage drop off or really are affected by heavier armor on targets, if that info is worth anything to you. Maybe it's changed.
>>2773738So I did extensive testing on this when crafting came out. For one you lose damage with escalate on the lumin. Remember you are doing 10% less damage.. PER SHOT.So in a burst of 4 that's 40% less damage than if you had burst normally. The more you shoot the less damage you do. Normally you need 2 to 3 bursts to down a player. With the escalate that's a 80 to 120 percent reduction in damage over normal.Since it's 8 rounds per kill with the lumin you usually need 3 bursts. With the escalate I was determined to try and make it two bursts of 8. However the damage reduction makes this impossible. Even with crafting you can't make up for that. If that wasn't enough the escalate makes the gun nigh uncontrollable at anything that's not point blank resulting in plenty of missed shots. Then you have the issue where the mag is not divisible by 4 so you'll always end up shooting a 1 burst or something retarded at the end of the mag or the mag just sitting in the gun not reloading. There's also the base issue with the lumin that the rof is wonky. It's not consistent for some reason in auto burst. You can notice it just dumping a mag. Personally I feel the best setup for the lumin is a stoic suppressor (almost impossible to find currently) or a flash hider and crafted with at least 750 quality. Probably one of the best and overlooked guns in the game seeing as it has no bullet drop or damage drop off for an SMG but has SMG damage. TLDR: Escalate is actually a massive damage reduction on the Lumin in TTK.
>>2773738The main issue is the 10% damage loss. If it was just +1 to burst and the increase in recoil it would be perfectly balanced making a double burst possible but difficult. With the damage decrease it's a plain downgrade from what I tested.
>>2775432Excelent anon, thx. That was my fear. In burst weapons any damage reduction can easily become a liability, specially when the number of bursts required for the kill increase (thats why tweaker gallant is one scary mofo since it does the opposite). Its official then. Tweaker P8-SC (assuming the player controls the recoil or is relatively close to the target) is the best overall smg in the game and the quartz can out DPS it but it stands somewhere between a smg and a shotgun in terms of range being more niche. Ripper is dogshit, Custodian is an ambush weapon for filthy rats (if the player charges it up, releases and quickly changes to full auto and fires like a karna) but the TTK is a bit lower up close. Lumin V is a longer range compact weapon.C54 is kinda weird. I wonder if a full precision build of sorts with suppressor + laser + x2 scope can be used to quickly latch to the targets head but Im not sure how good it would perform (high RoF can be advantageous sometimes). For center mass it falls short of the P8/Quartz and is less accurate.
For myself 90% of the time I take the Lumin since it has almost no downsides compared to other SMG's. It also has pinpoint accurate hip fire so even with spread increasing attachments your hip fire always hits. It also has the lowest recoil of any of the SMG's with no downsides. The only one I'd consider other than that is the quartz because of it's exceptional TTK. But in reality with desync that rarely comes into play in PVP. The recoil is also one of the worst of the SMG group. You'll notice the range too. Even indoors. Very good when boarding ships though. Wouldn't take anything else if it's an FPS fight in a ship.I've never seen anyone use custodian burst in any PvP situation effectively. Usually if you have the jump on a player the desync will ensure you win the fight no matter what you're using. If you're close enough to burst with a custodian you're also probably close enough to run up and knock them out for a free weapon. The other 10% in PvE I'm using the pulverizer or fresnel for onyx and probably siege of orison when that comes out. C54 is about moderate in recoil. Lower than the P8 but higher than the lumin. But it's not ammo efficient when the other guns have slightly better TTK and better ammo economy. I wouldn't use a suppressor on any of the SMG's due to the damage decrease unless you have a quell or stoic. The tacit reduces damage and we saw how that can affect TTK especially with fast firing guns. It's obviously fine if you're PvE'ing but PvP you'll notice it. Veil flash hider and scope of choice are probably the best options atm. Laser is only for hipfire so if the gun has high spread I'd only use it on that. Meanwhile a flashlight can somewhat blind a player in PvP giving it some use. Worth thinking about.

>>2779295I mean.. if you are telling him he should be spending money on an experience... technically buying the .jpg is the same as going on vacation, except the .jpg is an experience that you can continuously experience longer, whereas the vacation (which he probably already goes on anyways) is usually full of all kinds of tourist trap money sinks on top of price gouging for every single amenity. The only thing you get from either is an experience. Unless you count useless souvenir junk. Also, people can't fathom having a paid off house and not being in debt. Not everyone has student loans, mortgage debt, credit card debt, vehicle loan debt, etc. Some people took extra measures to ensure they are debt-free or have extremely manageable debt that they could pay off if they wanted. So yes, if you're a debt-slave with no hope, $1.6K probably is a lot. But if you got your shit under control, it's hobby money.
>>2779303The only people who don't value time are neets and gibs-recipients, since all they have is time. Anyone who has ever had to work for money, especially if you had to get a technical degree, knows the value of time. If you've worked and made good money, you've usually busted your ass, spent all your time earning, and reached breaking point multiple times, leading you to understand that money is fucking bs, and time is more valuable.

>>2779705>reddit spacing>bullshitting>spending thousands on a jpeg is equivalent to a reasonable holiday in another country You are a loser.
>>2779728Apparently they blew most of it until I think last year or the year before where they had made enough to be able to put something into a nest egg according to their financials. But the vast majority of the billion is long gone. Primarily spent on squadron. Remember squadron was done in 2015 and they scrapped it because CR wanted to remake it. They were getting so much money they didn't know what to do with it so they were buying studios and staff like crazy. Then running costs were too much and they had to close a bunch of offices and move every to manchester. I think they have a small office still in texas who are only working on the kraken or something. Chris has always been known for poor money management in nearly every project he's been a part of. In the film Lord of War I think the production company he was in charge of was accused of money laundering or fraud or something.

Yet another jpeg isn't worth it.It's not a question of whether $1600 is a lot of money or not. I spent $1200 on a 3D printer last year like it was nothing. I run a $6500 desktop. Even if $1600 isn't a lot of money, it's more a question of the value proposition. $1600 spent on hookers and blow is worth more than $1600 in shitty half broken video game space ships.
>>2780682These are all matters of opinion, so what you're saying is completely subjective. For the record, I recommended not spending any money on the game, unless he couldn't be convinced otherwise (in which case wait till november instead of impulse buying a bunch of shitty ships).Did you get any enjoyment out of SC ships? If yes, how is it different than hookers and blow. Both have their pros and cons. You would be shamed for buying both by normies. The hookers and blow carry extra risks from a legal stance, std stance, and self-worth stance. I have no problem getting laid and I'm not a druggy, so honestly the hookers and blow option is such a retarded idea to me in comparison to buying a sc ship. Surely you wouldn't brag about getting your dick wet from an std' riddled drug addict, would you? At the end of the day, what will you have to show for your $1200 3d printer and $6500 desktop? The 3D printer will break leaving you only plastic junk and the experience. At least with the PC you can cannibalize parts, but ultimately, those too will break.Intrinsic value is only important to the individual. I think spending $6500 on a pc is absolutely retarded since you are chasing diminishing returns for processing power that 99% of people will not even use. I highly doubt you use your PC to the max either. I have plenty of friends that bought top of the line pc's for gaming, yet play the dumbest shit that you could play on your phone. People spend $1000's on tattoos, which IMO lowers their social status because it's trashy. People spend $1000's on sports tickets so they can vicariously live through an athlete or feel like they're on a team and their team is winning, again, a waste of time and money to me. People spend way more money on dumb and frivolous shit like booze, cigs, drugs, OF thots, twitch streams, subscriptions to MMO's, games on steam sale they'll never play. How is this any different?Everyone has a hobby that is intrinsically valuable to them.
>>2780682>$1600 spent on hookers and blow is worth more than $1600 in shitty half broken video game space ships.Terrible example.I've spent that amount of money spaced out over twelve years on Star Citizen, which is equivalent to spending eleven bucks each month on an indie game in that same time period. What do hookers and blow get you? >>2781037But we are talking about experiences, not tools or hardware. I was pointing out that ultimately, one day your hardware will fail and you'll be left with just the experiences from it. >>2781633>experienceMother fucker it's a video game and you're ass is sitting here furiously refreshing this page all day long because you're seething and can't sit by and accept you're a faggot. Tell me, what experience did you get out of your BMM? >low effort response by indian*by an IndianWrong. You can't even come up with a half assed attempt at real argument when you're proven wrong so you just come up with whatever insults your sub 50 IQ can think of. The problem here is you're so stupid you don't realize how stupid you actually are.>inb4 poorfagYou do realize not everybody is a fucking retard with their money no matter how rich or poor they are? Tell me how easy your life was by ridding on your daddy's coat tails.
>>2781651Absolutely seething and dishonest + more ad hominem.
>>2781699Is that all you can come up with? You can't even come up with your own insults now lmao. Absolutely furious and still instant responding to everything anybody says. Why aren't you playing your broken ass game that you're defending so much? It can't possibly be because it's an unplayable dumpster fire now is it? I'd continue but it's generally considered poor taste to argue with the mentally challenged.Seethe, cope, whatever. I'll be laughing at you faggots in 2 years when the game dies.
>>2781713You can just leave the thread instead of coping and seething about how much you hate it. It's pretty pathetic that you feel the need to stick around instead of fucking off. I am playing the game right now.
>>2781727It's pretty pathetic you feel the need to defend a dying game you blew too much money on and can't accept the fact.>I am playing the game right nowSure thing bubba. Game must be boring as shit for you to be here 24/7 defending it.
>>2781111My guess is the retard has poor impulse control, already bought the overpriced jpeg pack and is now upset they're being called an idiot.Look even playing devil's advocate and saying that buying jpegs is fine, buying that pack in particular is still the stupidest shit you could do.CCU game for the ships you'd use or gray market for still cheaper than you'd spend on this pack.
>>2781733The game is in a pathetic state, I've said it multiple times, what are you even trying to prove? The point I've made this entire time, is that spending money on the game is no worse than any other hobby. We can go all night. I'll say the same thing over and over.
>>2781778>spending money on the game is no worse than any other hobbySpending money on games in general is fine. Buying this game is fine. Spending $1600 on a pack of overpriced half broken ships that could be acquired for less is objectively financially irresponsible. Even if you think the amount itself is insignificant, the fact that it's both possible and extremely easy to not spend it makes it irresponsible. Ipso facto you're a retard if you buy that pack, and deserve to be parted with your money.
>>2781331Didn't fat Ben turn out to be a pedo too?
>>2782281He had a bunch of health problems and was going blind.
>>2783697>>2782281As an actual veteran space game player he was probably overly critical as well
>>2783836No Ben is the number 1 Croberts fanboy. There is literally no one who wants to gobble CR's cock more than Ben. He's been doing it since the 90's. >>2783697No health issues either.>>2782281No a pedo. But kiwi farms or another lolcow group found out a ton of posts when he was younger including IRC logs and weird sexual fanfics including a page dedicated to some newsreader that had thousands of images of her he'd set up. All of which basically embarrassed him off of the net and any consumer facing roles. As far as I know he still works at CIG.
Further quantum changes, oh boy
>>2786220Man, we better fine tune those numbers to be just right or else... uh... game will be uh.. imbalanced and shit..yeah
>>2786585>Man, we better fine tune those numbers to be just right It's all they can manage to do now without breaking the game
>went from 1.6 to 8.0 in the asgardI'm happy.
>>2786585Now they're messing with spool times and speeds. Speed and acceleration tuning is fine, but spool times are a significant PvP balance issue that's already solved.
>>2787257Solved? HahahaIf CIG happened to get some numbers right, they'll just fuck them up and claim "Well we won't know for sure until we try new stupid numbers"And then it'll never change back. How long ago did they set all the components to have the same stats per grade? We still don't have the new stats ironed out. Fucking ridiculous.
>>2787736Solved in the sense that current spooling times are spot on between not too fast, and not too slow.
Capital ships should have their speeds quartered and their turning speeds tuned down to a fraction. Capital ships should be barely moveable hunks of metal. Meanwhile yesterday I watched two idrises orbit dogfight for an hour in and out of asteroids like they were light fighters.
>>2787836I think you misunderstand. I agree the spooling times feel just about right at the moment.I was just implying that CIG don't actually know this, nor accomplished it intentionally, nor will they leave it alone.
>>2788981>Capital ships should be barely moveable hunks of metal. There are a lot of obvious "should be's" and "should haves" for Star Citizen to make it a better game, but those don't sell JPEGs.
Why the fuck does the constellation have such bullshit stats? It has 4x size 5 guns, tons of cargo, fast as fuck and for some reason more armor than every other ship in it's class and some in the class above. Why?
>>2790945A combination of developer playing favorites and knee jerk reactions to design flaws. Used to be the engines would just fall off if you scratched them slightly
>>2790945If you haven't noticed by now, Chris's gigantic unearned ego means that all RSI ships are best in class because they're "roberts" space industries. That's literally it.
High burst FPS weapons are now a PvP only thing (with also Atzkav still being a sweat favorite). For PvE its high alpha peak&shoot shit like some snipers/Arlington/Gallant.
>>2790945It's the millennium falcon of Star Citizen.
>>2789155Of course they can't. It's been one disaster balance patch after another since engineering was introduced in December. They have no idea what they're doing. Weapon balance could've used some tweaks but there's literally nothing about quantum spool times that need adjusting.
>>2791664*nvm, servers will be overwhelmed again and the AI will stay braindead as always (when they actually work shit gets harder).
>>2786585You don't understand. It's crucial that the numbers are perfect while the rest of the game is being actively developed otherwise it just won't work. They'll surely never tweak them 3 more times over the next 10 years again.
