If the optimization is only the stuff they've listed, it's mainly volumetric clouds and foliage. Which can be additional double digit percent better performance, sure, but doesn't really touch the "lack o' skill" coding of NPCs etc. that's hammering the CPU.
Modding seems to still be the go-to on that front.

Frankly I don't buy the performance optimizations until they actually deliver. If it was already implemented and functional why wait months to release the performance update instead of with the June update? And if it's not implemented and functional then they're just saying that they're gonna TRY improve performance. Was it always possible and they just never got the funding/go ahead to actually implement these performance improvements? Because that's crazy if so.

Ignoring the GPU here because they can always just drop the resolution to improve GPU performance, but CPU bottlenecks are a whole other thing, the Switch 2's CPU is pretty much a phone/tablet tier CPU and I would assume it's much weaker than that of the PS5 for example.

It's also not *that* weak, it's only ~half a gen behind PS5 which is why you can get Cyberpunk running on it but not on PS4.

it's not crazy at all, it's actually completely normal. That's why there's lots of stuff modders do that companies don't, they have to go through a gorillion hoops (mainly, who to pay and for how much time) while modders just do it
them not releasing it in june might be for a lot of reasons, even the simplest "they just wanted to make two updates instead of one before the dlc, to remind people that the dlc is coming more often". After all the timeline now is june update>wait two months>august update>wait two months>DLC, which can be deliberate

Also keep in mind that altering the number of NPCs in any way crashes the game during the battle with the false arisen, any changes they make might have harsh consequences in specific circumstances and they can't afford any more bad PR. Modders can just do whatever they want because the stakes are low

That's quite stronger than I thought, I'm guessing they're aiming for 30~ FPS on the Switch 2, I wonder if they'll have unlocked FPS still.

It's bad, you need frame generation to play at 30 fps in Vermund and it will still drop below that occasionally (which means you're below 15 fps internally). It only has 4 cores tho, minimum specs require 6
