because that specific formula makes a lot of money and that’s the only thing that matters
>>2719718>Kinda this. Its safer to make a WoW clone in 2005-Current Year than it is to innovate and make Crush/Warmonger Online, or APB, etc
>>2719151New World didn't have any gacha mechanics and look what happened to it.
>>2719151asia
Why do mmos always have like 15 gay not fun mechanics that get shoe horned in that have nothing to do with role playing or multiplayer? Hotbar combat sucks, questing is literally never worth your time because it's all piss easy and balanced around playing solo, or even forcing you to play solo like final fantasy does, and nobody interacts outside of towns. The only content worth engaging with is dungeons, and those are instanced, so it's like every other co-op game except the combat sucks because of the hotbar combat which only exists so the servers can handle all the inputs in the open world questing half of the game, but nobody interacts with each other so it might as well not exist.
>>2784417yeah but if you don't do all that then people say it's not a TRVE KINO MMORPGlobby games mog the fuck out of MMOs, but everyone spergs out because they need their open world slop
>>2793556I'd be cool with the open world shit if anything actually happened in the open world, or if you actually needed a party to navigate, or literally anything that a bot couldn't automate and save you 40-70 hours of terrible gameplay.
>>2793556What do you mean by lobby games? Are you talking about co-op games like DRG and Darktide?
>>2719151Because tranime is the slopium of the gaymer masses
>>2719151unironically chinese investors, black rock DEI quotas, and, most importantly, modern games are developed entirely by teams of faggots who were never invited to play DnD when they were growing up.
So are we just never getting a good MMO ever again?
Don’t worry Steven is a good guy. Ashes of Creation will save the genre
>Tried playing Elder Scrolls online for a few days >Now I feel bored out of my mind as entire game just has to advertise itself every minute or so to make sure you're being cycled through every psychological trick in the book with each and every session, no matter how short I understand they have to make money one way or another, but does it have to be this obnoxious? I feel much calmer and relaxed after logging out of such mess, despite it supposedly being entertainment.
>>2719151because most game companies are publicly traded now, with investors who want money. making a profit ain't enough.
>>2851309they're a product of the past and serve no purpose in the current year.
