If it works like other merge abilities then one-time applicated effects like Red guardian or Hazmat would shrink him but consistent on going effects like Man-thing mean nothing to him. Also, I have no idea if he inherits the tokens indicating the debuffs from the stuff that merges into him or not. If he doesn't then he would completely sidestep the new Scorpion's ability. Either way, Luke Cage is probably gonna be pretty much mandatory for any Sinister Six deck.
