They really do seem to do this. It's mind blowing how much they just seem to want to ruin their games.
The Varangian was pretty much the moment they really jumped the shark but it was evident even before that. Every western type hero or "power fantasy" type hero (Mongolian, Pirate, etc) has been a woman.
