There are three kinds of cooperative games:Parallel coop: everyone does basically the same thing, uses the same loadout (or something very similar) and shares the same objective, such as "dealing damage to enemies with a weapon">monster hunter, darktide, towerfall, call of duty, helldivers, fight n' rage, ready or not, risk of rain, almost every coop game is in this categoryForced coop: they "force" cooperation at specific moments, such as a door that requires two players to press the action button at the same time to open it, a section where one player holds a lever while another crosses the platform it activates, or a button that requires the combined weight of three players.>a way out, it takes two, moving out, little big planetRole-based coop: those are built around a division of roles, where each member of the team does something different and depends on the others to succeed. This can be the classic DPS/tank/healer setup, a different kind of role distribution, or even something completely asymmetric, where it feels as though each person is playing a different game.>older MMORPGs, MOBAs, barotrauma, foxholeThis third type of game appeals to me a lot, but it seems fairly rare. Because you cannot solve everything by yourself, this kind of design appears to alienate the majority of people. Modern MMOs, for example, are basically single-player games where you watch other people playing their own single-player games from a distance, without ever needing to interact with anyone, because every class is self-sufficient.I really like the idea of teamwork, but I do not want to be stuck in gay ass MOBAs forever. I'm the kind of player that shines in a support/leadership role, as a healer even, but these kind of roles seem to just not exist anymore as people get more and more isolated. Can be any kind of game, even an old MMO if there is still a way to play it.>pic related is ai slop so this thread do not devolve into a specific game general
I'm retarded, I forgot to type the important part. Can you guys recommend me something? I'm looking into SpiritVale right now, is it good?
>>2781259Holy trinity action combat. Feels like monhun and wow fucked and had a beautiful Korean MMO aesthetic baby. Party composition is usually a tank, healer and 3 DPS. But there's 10 and 20 man raid content as well.https://oldschool.to/
>>2782423I've heard beautiful things about classic TERA, but I didn't know there was still a way to play it. I'll try it out, thank you anon.

>>2781029Im sure many people (im not sure actually I dont talk to anyone and have no analytical data) would also like codependency coop games if they didnt give people the excuse to get into arguments over whos not pulling their weight. games like that are fun because hyperfocusing on a gameplay style you like is fun right? but if that leaves you hard countered to some other guy you cant do anything besides cry to your team. Im not asian, I dont think “you cant do that because we made sure you cant win because youre not supposed to” is fun gameplay. I always think back to tf2 as a good example of how to do something like codependent coop right, even though its not one of those kinds pf games. each class is specialized enough to create different gameplay styles, but the ability for an individual to succeed (ie have fun weather or not your team wins) is not hampered by said specialization. anyways hope you find a good game to play op, and post about it too ok thanks
>>2783212These kind of games should not be limited to team vs team, I guess that is where most of the salty people come from
